Motorola has made a strong comeback in the smartphone arena with the impressive Droid RAZR. The incredibly thin Android smartphone built upon the success of the original RAZR clamshell over half a decade ago. With a kevlar enforced back and striking looks, it instantly won the hearts of those who were bored with the same black plastic slab designs we were accustomed to seeing. With the RAZR Maxx Motorola further innovated with breathtaking battery by packing in a massive 3300mAh battery into a body very similar in thickness. The phone is still unrivaled in terms of battery performance.

However with the advent of Android 4.0, faster dual core CPUs and HD displays have become a norm. The Droid RAZR lacked both of these, although it did carry a SAMOLED display. Now with these leaked pictures it seems as if Motorola has something up their sleeves which will certainly wet the appetite of even the most demanding user.

Called DROID RAZR HD, the phone fittingly comes with a HD display. Interestingly though the resolution mentioned s 1196×720 instead of the usual 1280×720. This can only mean one thing: RAZR HD will come with similar onscreen buttons as Galaxy Nexus did. The CPU will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 clocked at 1.5GHz and Adreno 225 will take care of the graphical tasks. The Snapdragon S4 nearly doubles the performance of the original Droid RAZR. In some tests it even bests the quad core packing One X and Galaxy S3. Unlike the RAZR Maxx, the RAZR HD will carry a smaller battery, most likely around the 2200-2500mAh mark which is still enough for a full days worth of usage. RAZR HD will also come with a kevlar enforced back for enhanced durability.

There’s no release date yet for this phone since it’s not official yet. Rumors point towards an August launch on Verizon
