With Square-Enix’s new found love for the iOS and Android, Final Fantasy Dimensions, an episodic smartphone spin-off, releases worldwide on 31st August 2012.
According to Square Enix, the prologue will be free, the first chapter will cost $2.99 and then chapters 2 to 4 will cost $9.99 each. One can also purchase the entire collection for $28.99, saving approximately $4.
Final Fantasy Dimension was developed by Matrix Software with Square Enix producing and publishing it. It was originally released for mobile devices in Japan 2 years back. FFD features 2D graphics and a Job Change System similar to the one seen in Final Fantasy V. The combat system is the variation of the Final Fantasy series’ Active Battle System or ATB. The game will allow players to control up to five members at a time in battle, it follows the story of two parties, The Warriors Of Light and The Warriors Of Darkness.
Square Enix hopes that this retro-based title would calm down a few RPG gamers who are waiting patiently for the much anticipated Final Fantasy Versus XIII which was rumored to have been cancelled but was then confirmed that it is still in development.
