How To: Update To iOS 4.3 Manually

Sometimes updating your device through iTunes may not work out for one reason or another. If that happens you can always update your iDevice manually, just check out the step by step guide after the break.

Step 1: Download the iOS 4.3 IPSW file for your iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad 2 or Apple TV using the links at the end of this article.

Step 2: Connect your device using a USB cable to your computer and open iTunes.

Step 3: Right click the device’s name in iTunes. Now Windows users have to hold SHIFT while clicking the “Check for Update/Update” button while Mac users have to hold OPTION while clicking the ”Check for Update/Update” button.

Step 4: A popup will open, browse to the IPSW you downloaded earlier and select it.

Step 5: iTunes will then update and re-sync your device with iTunes. This process should take around 10-20 minutes.

Make sure you download the correct IPSW file for your device. The IPSW files are as follows:

iPhone

• iPhone 3GS
• iPhone 4

iPod Touch

• iPod Touch 3G
• iPod Touch 4G

iPad

• iPad
• iPad 2

Apple TV

• Apple TV 4.2 (8F191m)
