  • Metareview: Rockstar’s L.A. Noire

Here’s what gaming journalism’s big shots have to say about L.A. Noire.

Giant Bomb (5/5): “The world already has enough open-world action games, but a game which marries that open world to such a methodical style of gameplay, with a budget this big, is a rare thing indeed.”
1UP (A): “Despite the shortcomings of the combat, it still doesn’t detract from the overall experience of L.A. Noire. By the end of the game, I felt like a seasoned gumshoe with years of experience under my belt. The evidence-gathering gameplay, and conversation-based puzzles requiring actual logic took me completely by surprise — not just because of how “real” it seemed, but by how entertained I was just doing it all.”
Gamespot (90/100): “L.A. Noire is a unique game with a terrific sense of period atmosphere, absorbing investigation mechanics, and a haunting tale with plenty of moments that would be right at home in a classic film noir. Those smoky nights spent listening to jazz at the Blue Room, and the price you paid for them, will stay with you long after you’ve retired your badge and gun. ”
Eurogamer (80/100): “But where Ace Attorney carries you through on winning characterization and a swift interface, L.A. Noire’s realistic, low-key style gives this process a very different pace and flavor. To begin with, it’s disconcertingly slow, but you soon relax into and start to enjoy its steady, methodical tempo.”
GameTrailers (91/100): “LA Noire floors you out of the gate, loses some steam due to repetition, but eventually wins the day thanks to its subtlety, attention to detail, and stunning character interaction. It has a certain level of class to it and sets a new standard for storytelling in video games, but it’s also a bit limited compared to its contemporaries.”
Destructoid (90/100) :”Add that sense of uniqueness and intelligence to the fact that L.A. Noire is a terrific bloody videogame, and you have what is guaranteed to be a classic for years to come. True maturity and narrative depth in mainstream gaming begins right here.”
IGN (85/100): “L.A. Noire may not reach the emotional heights of a game like Heavy Rain, but it’s something everyone must try out. It reaches high and almost succeeds as a brilliant new type of video game narrative.”

So what do you think of the game?

  • Modified iPhone 4 Coming Soon, iPhone 5 Might Face Production Issues

It seems 9to5Mac has gotten their hands on some pretty legit information which they are very confident about. They claim that there are indeed two different next generation iPhones in production, one being an upgraded iPhone 4 while the other being the much anticipated iPhone 5.

The lower end next generation iPhone possibly the iPhone 4S is being produced in massive numbers and will hit 10 million units by launch. The iPhone 4S will be priced aggressively as compared to the previous iPhones allowing Apple to capture more of the market share. The biggest news to come out of this report is that the iPhone 4S will be available on both pre-paid and post-paid plans which is a first for Apple.

The iPhone 5 which we’ve been waiting for quite some time now is said to face delays on at least one of their assembly lines which will cause shortages for quite some time. The iPhone 5 according to the site is said to be very light but still firmer than Samsung’s plastic ridden Galaxy line of phones, could Apple be using a new materiel in the iPhone 5 like liquid metal? Lastly Apple has focused greatly on the iPhone 5′s camera which is said to rival many dedicated cameras.

  • Leaked iPhone 5 Screen Protector Is Bigger Than The iPhone 4 Itself

There’s a lot of contradiction regarding the screen of the iPhone 5, some reports say it will be bigger (3.7inchs to 4.2-inches according to different reports) while others say that it will be the same as the iPhone 4. This newly leaked screen protector of the alleged iPhone 5 tends to side with the prior reports as it’s bigger than the iPhone 4 itself.

Now that is quite a big screen around 4-inches plus much bigger than the iPhone 4′s 3.5-inch Retina Display. The screen protector also gives away the long rumored elongated home button which is supposed to bring gesture support to iOS devices. Another picture of the screen protector being compared with the iPhone 4 is below:

  • Entourage Season 8 Finale Predictions

Entourage Season 8 Finale is tonight and I decided to write some of my own predictions of what could happen in tonight’s highly-anticipated finale! Read below to find out some possible spoilers for tonight’s episode.

I’m making these predictions based on my own knowledge and part of what I want for the season:

    1) Turtle: Since Turtle got nearly 4 million dollars in the last episode, he’s going to have no problems starting his Don Pepe’s business on his own. Things turn out pretty awesome for this one.

    2) Drama: Vince offered Phil 100 thousand dollars to get Drama his movie, and he got it! So it’s VICTORY for the chase brothers!

    3) Vince: The main role for Vince has been kind of a blur this season, from coming out of rehab to proving his purity to liking a girl he could never get to finally landing a drink with her. I assume Vince will try to woo Sophia even more in this episode, and she seems to be the perfect fit for a Hollywood star like him.

    4) E: Things are not going good for this one. But the preview clips did show Turtle and Drama lying to Sloan about Eric. So maybe Sloan would let him back in her life.

    5) Ari: This is the one I’m rooting for. Everybody’s favorite super agent is on his knees with this divorce situation. Is Melissa going to let him rule Hollywood again?

Judging from the chances, this episode is going to be the most powerful season finale yet!

A review will be posted here as soon as the episode airs.

  • Sprint iPhone 5 Will Launch With Unlimited Data Plans Next Month

As previously reported that Sprint along with AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile will be getting the iPhone 5 next month. According to a recent report by Bloomberg the Sprint version will come with Unlimited data plans.

If this is indeed true Sprint will be the only carrier to off unlimited data plans with the phone.

The report also notes that Sprint has delayed the release of a competing phone with 4G capabilities to clear the schedule for the iPhone 5 though it’s not specified which phone they’re talking about. Unlimited data plans offer unlimited voice and internet for $99 per month, rival carriers Verizon and AT&T have recently moved onto tiered plans for new customers which offer limited data for a lesser price.

Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) will offer Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s iPhone next month with unlimited data service plans to distinguish itself from rivals AT&T Inc. (T) and Verizon Wireless, according to people familiar with the matter.

Sprint, the third-largest U.S. wireless carrier, plans to begin selling the device in mid-October under a deal with Apple for the next model, the iPhone 5, said the people, who wouldn’t be identified because the plans aren’t public. Becoming the country’s only operator to offer the device with unlimited data service for a flat fee may help Sprint draw customers from AT&T and Verizon Wireless, which already carry the phone, they said.
