We still don’t know if the date is indicating an announcement of some sort or a release date for an upcoming Droid handset. A recently released Verizon roadmap which the Droid brand is exclusive to didn’t indicate any Droids to be released in the current season, maybe they changed something up?

Other than the regularly leaked Motorola X which is supposed to be made official any day now, Motorola is working on a few new Droid handsets including the Droid Ultra which should be exciting to see.

What do you think this announcement will be about? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Sony Xperia Z Charging Dock Review

I’ve been using the Sony Xperia Z for a few weeks now and I’m pretty much in love with it. The Sony Xperia Z has a very beautiful design and comes pack with top of line specs making it one of the best Android phones available in the market right now. As with any expensive smartphone, I decided to get accessories with it, the first thing that came to my mind was a charging dock of course.

So I decided to not take any risks and go with the official Sony Xperia Z Charging Dock model DK26 which I’ll be reviewing today.

The dock has a nice design and is painted black to match the Xperia Z, the dock is also available in White and Purple. In the dock the phone will be in Landscape mode so it’s not like Samsung docks which are mostly Portrait. The dock also holds the Xperia Z in a comfortable viewing angle so you can use it while charging or while watching a movie with the dock on your desk. The charger also won’t require your to connect your Xperia Z with it’s MicroUSB slot, instead it charges via the conductors on the phone’s left side making, so all you have to do is just slider your phone into the dock and it’ll start charging.

Unfortunately the DK26 dock can’t charge directly from your PC so users will have to connect the USB input at the back of the dock to AC power. The dock will also not work with a case of any kind and is intended to be used with a naked Xperia Z.

Overall I’m very happy with the dock, it could’ve been a bit cheaper considering it’s just a piece of plastic but it is quality stuff. TechDeville gives the Sony Xperia Z Charging Dock DK26 3.5/5 stars and if you’re interested you can grab one from here.

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 S-View Cover Review

Samsung has developed a ton of accessories for it’s latest flagship smartphone the Galaxy S4, we review the Galaxy S4 Smart Dock a few weeks ago and today we have with us the official Samsung Galaxy S4 S-View Cover.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 S-View Cover instead of functioning as just a plain cover for your expensive smartphone includes a touch capable front windows and a sensor making it one of the first of it’s kind. The front touch window is a great idea and reminds me of the old Motorola RAZR flip phone and how it displayed information on the front screen.

Similar to previous flip covers for older Samsung phones, the S-View cover for the Galaxy S4 also replaces your phone’s battery door which is attached to a cover at the front. The front cover though is special as it has a cut out area at the top used to display selected information. The idea here is to enable users to view simple information like the time without flipping open the cover. The overall design of the cover is similar the iPad’s smart covers.

The front window is also touch responsive so you can use some the touchscreen to some extent. Some of the functions include answering calls by sliding to the right.

Overall it’s a much welcomed innovation for smartphone covers that we would love to see in the future. TechDeville gives the Samsung Galaxy S4 S-View Cover 4/5 stars and you can grab one from here.

  • One million Nexus 7 units are sold each month says Asus

In an official statement Asus’s CFO David Chang has revealed that his company is selling one million Nexus 7 tablets per month. He announced this information after the company’s third quarter conference that took place on Tuesday according to WSJ.

Nexus 7 is a joint venture of Asus and Android maker Google which has been undoubtedly become the most success Android tablet ever produced. Asus revealed that the sales were 500K-700K in the beginning but last month the sales jumped to 1 million units. While the number announced by Asus is good, it is no where near to the market leader Apple’s sale numbers. Apple recently announced in its third quarter results that it sold over 14 million iPad units in the last quarter alone in the US while the global sales of iPad were 25 million in the third quarter.

While Apple is enjoying the status of the most successful and the only king of the tablet industry Google is expected to boost its sales in the coming months. Google recently announced Nexus 10 with 2560×1600 resolution display and a 32GB version of Nexus 7. Google has also reduced the price of 16GB model to $199 replacing the 8 gig version with it.

  • The “Senseless” HTC One Google Edition supposedly releasing this Summer

Recent rumors have been suggesting that HTC, just like Samsung, is working on a Nexus version of their flagship phone. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition was revealed a few weeks back at Google I/O and has been causing much excitement throughout the Android community.

The HTC One which many hardcore Android fans claim is the best smartphone available on the market right now can give some competition to the aforementioned Galaxy S4.

The latest rumor of the HTC One Google Edition comes from the recent major restructuring of the Taiwanese smartphone maker which lead to many key employees leaving the company. One of these key employees was HTC’s chief product officer Kouji Kodera who was a huge supporter of HTC Sense which is HTC’s proprietary Android skin.

OneGoogleEd 580 75 The Senseless HTC One Google Edition supposedly releasing this Summer

Kodera was once quoted that he “very proud of HTC Sense” and that he desired to ship it on every one of their devices. Maybe this new Google Edition lead to him leaving the company.

Other than this rumored HTC One smartphone, HTC has also been responsible for the first two Nexus devices namely the G1 and Nexus One, they’re also the manufacturers of the first Facebook phone called HTC First which is able to run stock Android along with Facebook’s own Home overlay.

I personally am a huge fan of stock Android and if HTC’s great hardware present in the HTC One is coupled with Stock Android, things can only get better. Which Android UI do you like? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
