According to a report by BGR the Playstation 4 will support 4K resolution (3096 by 3072 pixels) playback. Just like they did with 3D and Bluray on the PS3 Sony is planning to make the new standard a house hold name via its next gen line of products. Sony is already selling 4K res Bluray players at an affordable $200, now add the upcoming 80-inch XBR LED TV and the Playstation 4 to the mix and we have a whole lineup of 4K products.
Although the PS4 most probably won’t be able to run most retail games at 4K we might see some exceptions like Wipeout HD on the PS3 which runs at 1080p compared to the console’s other games which run at 720p or lower.
