  • GTA V Characters Leaked

Well looky what we have here, Rockstar apparently slipped up and let out an actor’s recruitment page. The page was posted on Actorpages by Take Two (The owners of the GTA franchise) as a private casting note.

Out of the characters only one has been identified as being legit according to the GTA Wiki:

James Pedeaston is a child molester wanted in Malaysia and is being investigated by the FBI. He hosted The Wild Traveler show on WCTR in 1992, although it is apparently syndicated to nine other stations (not heard in-game). He enjoys traveling the world and logging some of his most ‘exotic’ encounters in his travelogue, some of which he accidentally reads on-air to the disgust of the listeners. His favourite memory seems to be a relationship with a boy named Avrindar in Sri Lanka. His show appears to be so reviled by his listeners that at one point, he receives few calls which are not supportive. For example, a caller tells him to stop droning on about other countries and focus on talking about where he lives. At one point he received a phone call from a suicidal man in Verdant Bluffs who wanted to go to hell. Pedeaston replies with “Me too! Buy me a refrigerator magnet when you get there”. In GTA IV, he was arrested by the Indonesian police after being suspected of child molesting in Bali, Indonesia in 2003.

  • Hideo Kojima Unveils The Fox Engine For Multiplatform Games, MGS 5?

Hideo Kojima is a sly dog indeed, he was working on a brand new engine to power his next multiplatform project while we thought he was idling. The developer sat down for a brief interview with 1up and had this to say:

Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima recently said on Twitter that he would not be attending E3 this year. Instead, he sat down for a video interview with former 1UP editor and current 8-4 employee Mark MacDonald for a chat. That video was released today as a part of Konami’s pre-E3 event today.

The subject of Metal Gear Solid: Rising was covered briefly. There won’t be any big announcements regarding it at E3 this year and it’s still on track for release in 2012. The game has had a prominent showing for the past two years at E3.

Kojima went on to say his next game is still in the planning phase, offering little more than that. He did show a brand-new engine Kojima Productions is developing known as the Fox Engine. It’ll be used in his next game and, unlike in the past where the developer worked on specific platforms, the Fox Engine is “paving the road to go multiplatform for future titles.” (A mouse, PS3 controller, and Xbox 360 controller were the three different platforms that it seems to be designed for.) The hope is it will reduce development time so that games can be released more frequently. Work began on it after Metal Gear Solid 4 was finished and it continued to be developed as Peace Walker was made.

The new title was referred to only as an “upcoming, unannounced game.” What’s seen in the video is stuff being done for research; it won’t necessarily make it into the new game. Kojima “really can’t say much about when” we’ll learn more about it, but it will be multiplatform, transfarring-enabled (Kojima Production’s new save game connectivity feature), and designed for a global audience.

Kojima teased that next year could see the release of Rising and maybe even other games. He didn’t offer up anything more than that, simply calling 2011 a “year of preparations for Kojima Productions.” Both Metal Gear Solid 3D and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be out this year.
