  • Galaxy S II I9100 XWLST Android 4.1.2 Firmware Install Guide

    Samsung has released a brand new stock firmware for their now legendary Galaxy S II smartphone codenamed XWLST running Android 4.1.2 bringing a ton of features along with it. The Galaxy S2 is great smartphone still relevant today two years after it’s release in 2011. Although I currently use a Nexus 4 I still have my old Galaxy S II with me just to tinker around with it and install new ROMs and apps.

    Follow the guide below to install the XWLST firmware on your Galaxy S II.

    Step 1. Download the XWLST firmware for Galaxy S II I9100.

    Step 2. Download and install Odin on your PC.

    Step 3. Turn off your phone and connect it to your PC in Download Mode. To access Download Mode turn on your Galaxy S II I9100 while holding the Volume Down and Home buttons.

    Step 4. Make sure you have the required USB drivers installed for your Galaxy S II.

    Step 5. Wait for Odin to recognize your device, if it does, one of the ID:COM boxes in Odin will turn yellow with your device’s number.

    Step 6. Select the required files from the XWLST archive you download from the first step:

    • Click the PDA button. Select the file which has CODE in its name
    • Click the Phone button and select the file which has MODEM in its name
    • Click on the CSC button and select the file which has CSC in its name
    • Click the PIT button and select the .pit file. Some firmwares will have this, ignore if it doesn’t.

    Step 7. In ODIN select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. Select repartition only if your selected the PIT file

    Step 8. Click the start button. Installation process will take a few minutes. After the reboot is complete, your Galaxy S II will boot into the XWLST Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean firmware.

  • Galaxy S II I9100 UHMS9 Firmware Update And Root

    The Galaxy S II UHMS9 firmware or I9100UHMS9 as it’s more commonly known has been released and is now available to be installed. The UHMS9 firmware for the Galaxy S II is a Mexican firmware but can be installed on any variant of the Galaxy  S II I9100 except for the Chinese and Taiwanese without any problems.

    The UHMS9 update mainly includes bug fixes so there aren’t many new features present in this release.

    Before starting, make sure that:

    • You have all your important data backed up.
    • The battery is at least 50% charged.

    Step 1. Download the UHMS9 firmware for Galaxy S II I9100.

    Step 2. Download and install Odin on your PC.

    Step 3. Turn off your phone and connect it to your PC in Download Mode. To access Download Mode turn on your Galaxy S II I9100 while holding the Volume Down and Home buttons.

    Step 4. Make sure you have the required USB drivers installed for your Galaxy S II.

    Now the tutorial to root your Galaxy S II running the newly installed UHMS9 firmware is below:

    Step 1. Download Root Kernel I9100UHMS9 for your Galaxy S II I9100.

    Step 2. Go into Download Mode again and start up Odin like we did above.

    Step 3. After Odin recognizes your Galaxy S II I9100 click on PDA and select the Siyah-s2-v6.0b4.tar file we downloaded in the first step.

    Step 4. Check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.

    Step 5. Click on the Start button and let it do it’s thing. After the rooting is complete your phone will restart.

  • Galaxy S III XXEMB5 Firmware Update And Root Guide

    The Galaxy S III I9300 XXEMB5 firmware or I9300XXEMB5 as it’s more commonly know has been released and is now available to be installed. The XXEMB5 is an unbranded firmware so it can be installed on all Galaxy S III I9300 smartphones except those from China and Taiwan.

    The XXEMB5 firmware is available for install through Kies but if you’re running into problems updating through that then just follow the tutorial in this article.

    Step 4. Check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.

    Step 5. Click on the Start button and let it do it’s thing. After the rooting is complete your phone will restart.

    Samsung has had a major turnaround with their update cycles this year. From being mediocre in this aspect they are now churning out one update after another. Today is a big one. It’s the official Android 4.1.2 XXELKC firmware. It’s completely unbranded so you get the experience that Samsung intended.

    Step1- Download the XXELKC firmware

    Step 3- Boot your phone into download mode. Do this by switching it off and then pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home buttons together, and then pressing the Power button. You’ll see a triangle and an Android logo. Press the power button to enter download mode

    Step 4- Open ODIN on your PC. Make sure USB drivers for the phone are installed. Upon successful connection one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number.

    Step 5- Select all files you downloaded in step 1.

    • Click the PDA button. Select the file which has CODE in its name
    • Click the Phone button and select the file which has MODEM in its name
    • Click on the CSC button and select the file which has CSC in its name
    • Click the PIT button and select the .pit file. Ignore this step if this file doesn’t exist

    Step 6- In ODIN select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. Select repartition only if your selected the PIT file

    Step 7- Click the start button. Installation process will take a few minutes. After that your phone will reboot with XXELKC Android 4.1.2 official firmware.

  • Install Android 4.1.2 XXELK4 leaked firmware on Galaxy S III

    A few days ago we covered the XXDLK1 Android 4.1.1 update for Galaxy S III. That is the latest official firmware available for this phone at the moment. Now a new leaked firmware has appeared. XXELK4 firmware will update your Galaxy S III to Android 4.1.2.

    Samsung has reportedly added a lot of new features to this XXELK4 firmware. But it is not an official release, so expect bugs and other inconsistencies. It’s also pre-rooted.

  • Google is now rolling out Android 4.1.2 update for Nexus 7

    Google has announced on its official Android building group that the Android 4.1.2 update for Nexus 7 tablet will roll out to the users today. The update that is termed as ‘minor’ brings several performance and stability improvements to the tablet. Android 4.1.2 also fixes several bugs that were reported by many users and devs. Along with the improvements to the software this update also adds a new landscape mode on the Nexus 7 home screen. While Android 4.1.2 is an incremental update, it certainly brings Nexus 7 and us one step closer to Android 4.2 update.
