  • AT&T releases sales figures for iPhone for Q3 2012

AT&T is the biggest cellular network in USA. It was also the first network that got the iPhone under its lineup way back in 2007. After that both have had a special relation with the iPhone consistently being a top seller. Today AT&T has released their sales figures for iPhone for Q3 2012 and as expected, they make for a special reading.

AT&T activated a total of 6.1 million smartphones this quarter. From that 6.1, 4.7 million are iPhones. That’s a staggering 77% of their total activations. As a comparison Verizon had a 46% iPhone share showing again that AT&T and iPhone gel well together. AT&T also said most of these sales went to existing customers and only a handful were new connections.

As for the iPhone5, AT&T hinted at an impressive 1.3 million units sold. This is double to what Verizon managed, which was only 650,000 in this quarter. While many may call the sales figures for iPhone for Q3 2012 under par, it’s important to note that iPhone 5 has been plagued with various issues, ranging from built issues, to Maps and purple lens flare in the camera. What will be interesting to see are the Q4 sales figures for iPhone 5 since it will include the lucrative holiday season as well as the new Nokia Lumia lineup.

  • AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II Variant Leaked By It’s HDMI Dock?

We are pretty certain that the the US will eventually get the Samsung Galaxy S II. As previously reported the big 4 carriers in the US (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint) will get four different variation of the phone just like it’s predecessor.

Samsung Singapore recently posted this picture of the official HDMI dock for the Samsung Galaxy S II on their Facebook. Notice the AT&T branding on the phone along with a different lower portion compared to the original i9000. Looks like an official announcement for the variants is due very soon.

  • Samsung Galaxy S II AT&T Variant’s Pictures Leaked, Features A Slide Out QWERTY Keyboard

BGR has received exclusive photos of the AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S II which is yet to be released in the USA. The most distinctive part of the variant is that it features a slide out QWERTY keyboard like the Sprint variant of the previous Galaxy S: The Epic 4g.

BGR says this Galaxy S II variant manages to maintain it’s slim profile even with a QWERTY slider, could that make it the slimmer keyboard phone ever?

As you can see from the image above it’s indeed the rumored SGH-I927 which was previously thought to be the Windows Phone 7 powered Galaxy S II.

The BGR informant even managed to run some benchmarks which makes one thing clear: it’s bloody fast!

The camera is still 8MP with what it looks like a single LED flash. We’re still not sure that if the innards like the processor have been changed but we can say for sure is that the phone is indeed coming to the United States.

  • The Recently Reported AT&T Branded Samsung Galaxy S II, It’s Not A Galaxy S II After All

Remember the AT&T branded so called Samsung Galaxy S II with a slide out keyboard? Well it’s not a Galaxy S II after all. According to BGR who received the images of the phone say that it’s a whole new phone, so basically AT&T is getting TWO slim and stylish Samsung phone soon.

A phone with the model number SGH-i927 went through the FCC a few weeks ago with AT&T bands but it seems that was another phone and Samsung has recycled the model number for this new phone. Another odd thing about this phone is the kernel version, 2.6.36.3 is suppose to be a kernel for Android Honeycomb not Gingerbread. More news about this as it develops.

  • China Telecom Wants Apple To Make Them A CDMA iPhone

It seems at Asian carrier China Telecom is in direct talks with Apple regarding bringing the CDMA model of the iPhone to it’s whooping 216 million subscribers. Apple is currently serving only China Unicom and it’s 886 million customers just like it was previously doing with AT&T in the USA, If they can give Verizon the iPhone then why not China Telecom?

China Telecom’s chairman Wang Xiaochu told Reuters:

We’re not denying that we’re in touch with iPhone (Apple), but I cannot comment on the progress.

These “talks” could very well lead to something as Apple’s exclusivity agreement with China Unicom is set to expire later this year.
