Although competitors like EA maybe be down in the dump, there’s nothing stopping Activision and it’s CEO Bobby Kotick who was recently revealed to be one of America’s highest payed CEOs.
After reviewing papers submitted to the SEC by Activision in 2012 (via Bloomberg) it was revealed that Mr. Kotick was worth a whopping $64.9 million to his company mainly through the $55.9 million stock options give to him. Other than the stocks, Kotick has received up to $20 million directly from Activision. For comparison, EA’s former CEO John Riccitiello was paid only $800,000 a year.
Gaming is becoming one of the fastest growing businesses in the world, taking even the oldest analogue games like Bingo and incorporating them into online mobile Bingo sites which are rapidly becoming more and more popular.
Activision is currently the biggest name in gaming with huge franchises like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft and Starcraft just to name a few. Just how bigger the company will get next generation is unknown, but the growth by the looks of it isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
