  • Install CWM recovery on Nexus 10 and root Android 4.2.1 JOP40D firmware

    Nexus 10 is the biggest and baddest Android tablet available. At $399 it’s also a steal for the hardware you get. If you’re a lucky owner of this tablet, then the first thing you need to do is root this baby. That is after all what a Nexus device is for. Follow the guide below to install CWM recovery on Nexus 10 and root Android 4.2.1 JOP40D firmware.

    Requirements

    • Make sure all your data is backed up and your tablet is fully charged.
    • To install CWM recovery on Nexus 10 using this method you need to have the latest JOP40D firmware.
    • Android SDK

    Step 1- Download fastboot and extract it in android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory.

    Step 2- Download this file and copy it on your tablet using mass storage.

    Step 3- Download the recovery image and copy/paste it in theandroid-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory.

    Step 4- Enter fastboot/bootloader mode on your tablet. Do this by pressing Volume Down + Power keys for a few seconds.

    Step 5- Open command prompt and navigate to android-sdk-windows\platform-tools. 

    Step 6- Enter the following command

    fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.8-manta.img

    Step 7-  After executing the command enter recovery from fastboot. Scroll to ‘flash zip from SD card’ and choose ‘choose zip from SD card’.

    Step 8- Choose the file ‘CWM-SuperSU-v0.98.zip’ and flash it. Installation process will hardly take a few seconds.

    Step 9- Reboot the tablet using the ‘reboot system now’ option from recovery.

    That’s it. Install CWM recovery on Nexus 10 procedure is complete. Furthermore your tablet is also rooted.
