Tune Up Utilities needs no introduction. Since its inception almost 9 years ago, Tune Up has been adding and improving their benchmark product to perfection. Their latest invention is Tune Up Utilities 2012, and it is jam packed with a whole new list of features to play with. We’d reviewed their last year’s product as well, give it a read here and compare the two.
Apart from having the cool old features, Tune-Up has really stepped its game up this year with a couple of totally unexpected additions.
A Familiar Interface
Tune Up Utilities 2012 returns with a familiar but redone interface. The look that has been continued ever since the 2010 version has been revamped once again, everything is where it was for easier user experience.
PC Optimization Mode
A new feature introduced this year is kind of an upgrade to “Turbo Mode”. You get three options to choose from to set your PC/Laptop to your desired environment. They even include their own Power Saver option called Economy Mode that beats the default energy saver option of laptops by focusing more deeply on it.
“Economy” Mode
It really works well with laptops!
Program Deactivator
Another new addition this time around is the Program Deactivator. The cool thing about this gadget is that it’s fully automated. It studies the amount of time a user spends with a certain list of programs and automatically disables the unused ones, saving RAM and performance. A very cool addition, indeed.
Good Ol’ One-Click Maintenance
Ah bliss, one of my personal favorites from Tune Up is their One-Click Maintenance. It’s no secret that a number of programs have copied this feature off of them but Tune Up is still the king in it. Seeing when my registry errors get cleared from a thousand to zero is just heavenly. I’m sure computer geeks would agree with me on this one.
The Motherload
It’s not all fun and games when it comes to bringing it to the table! Here’s the entire list of gadgets that come with Tune Up Utilities 2012.
Final Verdict
Pros:
- The look and feel of Utilities 2012 has a very smooth learning curve.
- Program Deactivator works under the radar, allowing smooth performance.
- One-Click Maintenance is STILL the best!
Cons:
- The interface needs to be lighter, like back in the 2009 days, might take some time to load on slow machines.
