  • Sony Buys Gaikai For $380 Million, Could A Cloud Revolution Be Coming?

    Sony announced earlier today that they have acquired the cloud gaming service Gaikai for $380 million. They plain to use the company’s assets to build and improve their streaming services company wide and not just gaming.

    Thanks to the deal Sony customers will be able to “to instantly enjoy a broad array of content ranging from immerse core games with rich graphics to casual content anytime, anywhere on a variety of internet-connected devices,” according to SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment) President and CEO Andrew Smith.

    Gaikai founder David Perry had the following to say about the buy out:

    Gaikai is a unique gaming streaming service very different to its main competitor OnLive in the sense that it does not require any downloads to work but instead streams content directly in the browser. Read more about the company on their official website.
