  • Samsung TouchWiz Devices Including Galaxy S II Being Reset Via Vulnerability

It seems Samsung’s in quite of a predicament. It was reported that Samsung TouchWiz devices including the Galaxy S II are being reset via an HTML code vulnerability, which when clicked wipes the phone.

samsung touchwiz reboot 694x480 Samsung TouchWiz Devices Including Galaxy S II Being Reset Via Vulnerability

The vulnerability was initially thought to only affect the Galaxy S III as tweeted by Pau Olivia:

Although multiple reports suggest that it only brings up the phone’s dialer. The vulnerability instead works on the Galaxy S II which is caused by the TouchWiz launcher which automatically dials the reset code.

According to Tweakers the Galaxy S Advance is also being affected by the problem.

Samsung is reported to be looking into the problem.

  • The First Custom ROM For The Samsung Galaxy S II Is Now Available For Download

The original Samsung Galaxy S had a very strong developer community behind it churning out excellent ROMSs like Darkys, looks like the same is gonna happen with it’s successor. pulser_g2 from XDA has released the first custom ROM for the Galaxy S II called the VillainROM 1.0, don’t be confused by the image above the ROM shall be fully stock. The ROM is based on XWKE2, the developer describes it as:

It’s fully deodexed, and I’ve resigned all the Samsung and stock applications with a new key-set, so that it’s much easier to make modifications to the apps in future. Villain Tweaks was a project of mine to “test the water” for modifying the apps in the SGS 2 ROMs. I hit issues I couldn’t get around, since the pre-installed apps were signed by Samsung.

Do note guys is ROM is in it’s primary stages and would take some time to be usable on the daily basis so install it at your own risk.

  • AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II Variant Leaked By It’s HDMI Dock?

We are pretty certain that the the US will eventually get the Samsung Galaxy S II. As previously reported the big 4 carriers in the US (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint) will get four different variation of the phone just like it’s predecessor.

Samsung Singapore recently posted this picture of the official HDMI dock for the Samsung Galaxy S II on their Facebook. Notice the AT&T branding on the phone along with a different lower portion compared to the original i9000. Looks like an official announcement for the variants is due very soon.

  • The Recently Reported AT&T Branded Samsung Galaxy S II, It’s Not A Galaxy S II After All

Remember the AT&T branded so called Samsung Galaxy S II with a slide out keyboard? Well it’s not a Galaxy S II after all. According to BGR who received the images of the phone say that it’s a whole new phone, so basically AT&T is getting TWO slim and stylish Samsung phone soon.

A phone with the model number SGH-i927 went through the FCC a few weeks ago with AT&T bands but it seems that was another phone and Samsung has recycled the model number for this new phone. Another odd thing about this phone is the kernel version, 2.6.36.3 is suppose to be a kernel for Android Honeycomb not Gingerbread. More news about this as it develops.

Remember the Hercules? Yeah the T-Mobile phone with the 4.5-inch screen set to release sometime after the Galaxy S II’s release, well it looks like Telus a Canadian carrier is planning to launch the phone very soon.

This sounds legit since Telus is known for releasing T-Mobile specific phone in the past like for example the Galaxy S 4G. The picture was taken by MobileSyrup in a VIP event by Samsung yesterday in Toronto.

As far as specs are concerned it was reported to have a 4.5-inch display and the same internals of the Samsung Galaxy S II including a dual core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP back camera with 1080p recording and a good quality front camera which seems to be a 2MP sensor. It’s also suppose to be Canada’s first dual carrier 42Mbps smartphone. The phone looks like a cross between a Nexus S and a Galaxy S II, which looks great indeed.
