  • iPhone 5 Price In Pakistan

Looking for the latest iPhone 5 prices in Pakistan? Ever since the iPhone 5 launched, people have been raving about the smartphone and its epic features. The iPhone 5 is also a local favorite in Pakistan. It sells among the highest selling Android phones in the market. This phone comes in three forms, a 16 GB version, a 32 GB version and a 64 GB version, each varying greatly in the price. They also come in two colors, black and white, the white version is harder to find in the local Pakistani market, being the version in demand these days.

Like every other smartphone, the iPhone 5 has a lot of varying prices specially in the local market. For the latest iPhone 5 Price In Pakistan, check out the full list below:

    1. Apple iPhone 5 16 GB – 69,999 PKR

    2. Apple iPhone 5 32 GB – 82,999 PKR

    3. Apple iPhone 5 64 GB – 92,999 PKR

The iPhone 5 does not come with an external SD card slot, but the internal memory makes up for the missing feature. It also comes with the super-fast A6 processor which is smaller in size than its predecessor and consumes lesser battery life.  It also comes loaded with the latest iOS 6 operating system which has a lot of nifty features that the older versions didn’t have.

Looking at the physical appearance, the iPhone 5 does not go very far from its predecessor the iPhone 4S. The battery is above-standard for smartphones, it comes with an 8 hours of talk time and 255 hours of stand by time. It can also be used as a good music player with audio playback time with up to 40 hours.

The screen is as beautiful as ever, with the incredible Retina Display which comes along with a huge 4-inch display with multi-touch capabilities. It also comes with an oleophobic cover on the front which protects it from fingerprint impressions. The camera is an 8-megapixel HD camera which comes with auto-focus.

The video recording capabilities could have been better, the camera produces average 720p videos. The camera also sports an LED flashlight along. The sensors on the iPhone 5 are quite a few, along with the Accelerometer, we have the Proximity Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor and Three axis-gyro sensor.

Knowing Apple, the accessories don’t come cheap. The phone itself comes along with the earphones which I personally don’t like that much because of the below-par sound quality they produce. Well, there you have it, this was a short review of the phone along with the prices in Pakistan. Check back here for updated prices as they change.

  • The Top-5 Must-Have Apps for a Jailbroken iPhone

Every time a new firmware comes out, to update your iPhone you have to flash it  (Due to the lack of OTA updates), which results in all the data on the phone getting wiped. For me, the process has developed into a choreographed exercise. The first thing I do after the phone gets updated, needless to say, is Jailbreak it. After which I install the following apps from Cydia, now I do this before moving on to anything else because honestly, I have become so accustomed to them that I cant bear to use my iPhone without them. These are the best apps for a Jailbroken phone in my opinion. The full list after the break.

    1. SBSettings(Free)
The very first thing that I do after jailbreaking an iPhone is install SBsettings. I simply can’t stand to use the phone without it and best of all, it’s totally free! SBsettings is basically a menu which drops down from the status bar when you swipe the bar (activating action is fully customizable). It puts all of the commonly used toggle in one place which is just a “swipe” away. You can even customize which toggles appear and can even install new toggles from Cydia (shown in the screen shot below) and there is a plethora of toggles available there. It can be accessed from anywhere on the phone and it even includes a nifty task manager. Without this app installed it just seems like a hassle to perform even the simplest of function such as turning on bluetooth. With SBsettings it’s as simple as “swipe and tap” instead of “Settings->General->Bluetooth”. Once you get used to it, you wont be able to live without it. It is certainly a Must-Have.

    2. BiteSMS($8.99)

I’ve used iPhones, Blackberrys, Symbian and Android phones and almost every OS that was in the market one time or another and I assume it’s safe to say that NOTHING even comes close to the texting experience offered by BiteSMS. The only downside is that it isn’t free but i have to say that it is well worth the price. The best two features, in my opinion are the Quick Compose and Quick Reply. With Quick Compose you can basically compose a text from anywhere on the phone instead of stopping whatever you’re doing, opening the SMS.app and composing the message from there. You simply have to press the volume button, tap on the volume screen and Voilà, you get to the quick compose, froom there you can select the contact, compose the message, and send it. The prompt will then disappear and you’ll be back to whatever you were doing. You can even reply the same way; just press the reply button on an incoming text and a keyboard pops up, with which you can reply and the prompt disappears after sending the message, you can even pull on a slider on top of the prompt and it pulls up the texting history of the contact you’re chatting with(see screen shot), really nifty. Just like SBSettings, once you get used to the BiteSMS, you wont be able to live without it.

    3. iFile/Myfile($4.00/Free)

The iPhone does not allow access to the root file system, that’s what jailbreaking is basically: Getting access to the root file system, but even after Jailbreaking, some sort off app needs to be installed give a GUI access to the file system. That’s where iFile(Myfile free alternative) comes in. It offers a myriad of features. You can directly view files of various types with it’s open with menu, it can unzip zipped files, files can be emailed, permissions can be changed and much more, it even offers the ability to host a web server. $4.00 is a small price to pay for an app with so many features, this one is highly recommended.

    4. Caller ID/Format Fix(Free)

Although this isn’t technically an app, it is a very important package. Now, in most third world countries the iPhone still hasn’t officially launched, what this means for the iPhone users in those countries is that the contact names do not show up in the SMS app. Many people have asked me, “How do we get contact names to show up in the SMS app?” It’s really an annoyance if you have this problem. The simplest solution is to install this tweak. It goes by the name CallerID-Format fix for 3.x and although it was originally made for 3.x firmwares it works great on iOS4 too. What it does is it adds your country code e.g +92, to the iPhone’s directory. With this installed you won’t have to edit the country code into each and every contact on your iPhone and the SMS app will show all the contacts in your SMS app.

    5. Celeste Bluetooth File Sharing($9.99)

Celeste is perfectly defined on their homepage. Celeste is the Bluetooth file transfer that Apple forgot. For 2.x there was iBluetooth, for 3.x there was iBlueNova and for 4.x there is Celeste and out of all these Celeste has the tightest integration with the OS and is best implemented. It requires no configuration at all and it can send and receive files to and from any PC or mobile. It is integrated directly into the OS, meaning that there is no seperate app for it, to send a file you simply have to to long press the file and an action menu appears like it would on any other phone and then just tap send and to receive a file you simply have to toggle Celeste from SBsettings . It’s as easy as that. Not quite sure if it’s worth the steep price tag though, but those who need it will still buy it despite the huge price tag, it’s a great app nonetheless.

That’s about it. For anyone new to Jailbreaking, these are the best apps IMO that are out for a Jailbroken phone, these really enchance the experience of using the phone and you should at least try them out. You wont regret it. Feel free to leave any suggestions for new apps to be added to this list in the comments below.

  • This Is The iPhone 5; 4-inch Display, A6 Processor And 4G LTE For $199 Hitting Stores September 21st

Its finally here folks! After months if not years of speculation (rumors starting before the iPhone 4S was out) the iPhone 5 is finally official. Yes its called the iPhone 5 and not the next iPhone or iPhone 4GS as some people were speculating.

The iPhone 5 looks just like the leaks said it would, the chassis is a 7.6mm super thin blend of glass and aluminum making it 18% thinner than the iPhone 4S. Its not just thinner but lighter as well weighing in at just 112 grams.

The screen has finally been upgraded to a 4-inch Retina Display running at 1136 x 640 res which equals to around 326ppi. The display also offers better color saturation with full sRGB rendering greatly improving video quality. The bigger screen and resolution puts the display a bit shy off 16:9 due to which first party apps including Garage Band and iMovie have been updated while older apps will work in a letterbox configuration until they’re updated.

Apple iPhone 5 1 This Is The iPhone 5; 4 inch Display, A6 Processor And 4G LTE For $199 Hitting Stores September 21st

The iPhone 5 now also supports 4G LTE with US carriers Sprint, Verizon and AT&T offering plans. The older HSPA+, EV-DO, EDGE are also available along with 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi if you want to overspend your wireless budget.

The beast powering the iPhone 5 is the brand new A6 processor which Apple claims is two times faster than the iPhone 4S. The A6 is also 22% smaller making it much more energy efficient. Cupertino’s engineers claim 8 hours of talk time on LTE and 10 hours on WiFi.

The camera on the iPhone 5 is the same as the iPhone 4S except for being a bit thinner. If you aren’t aware its an 8 megapixel 5 element lens and an f/2.4 aperture lens. The major improvement is the much faster shutter speed which Apple claims is 40% faster. The new panoramic photo mode captures and stitches together a 28 megapixel image. The camera just as the iPhone 5 captures video in 1080p. The front camera also got a bit of a boost and now captures video in 720p, perfect to compliment Facetime over that 4G LTE.

apple iphone 5 This Is The iPhone 5; 4 inch Display, A6 Processor And 4G LTE For $199 Hitting Stores September 21st

The iPhone 5 also upgraded its microphone to five-magnet transducer which greatly improves voice quality on networks which support it.

The dock connector has been upgraded as well, and the pins are down to 8 just as the leaks suggested. Apple’s new 8-pin connector is 80% smaller and is called Lightning. Apple will also be selling an adapter for customers who wish to use the older connector’s accessories with Lightning.

On the software side the iPhone 6 runs on iOS 6 out of the box just as expected.

The iPhone 5 will be available in two colors, Black and White. The prices will stay the same at $199 for the 16GB model, the 32GB will cost $299 and the 64GB $399 so there’s no premium for LTE. Shipments for Shipments in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore start on the 21st while pre-orders start on the 14th of September. Apple will be adding around 20 more markets in the coming months, more details on that later.

So will you be getting one? Let us know in the comments below.
