  • Transformers 3 Becomes The Top Grossing Movie In The USA For The Year 2011

This weekend box office was still in the favor of the Autobots as Transformers 3 continued its winning streak. This week, the competition between new movies wasn’t fierce and only two notable titles were worth mentioning which were Horrible Bosses and Zookeeper.

Transformers 3 fell an average 52% to gross a steady $47 million during its second weekend at the American box office. This brought its total tally to $261 million in USA which translates to a roughly $558 million worldwide gross if we count the foreign markets as well.

Transformers 3 is the top grossing movie for the year 2011 in the USA. The Hangover 2 stands second with $250 million while Pirates 4 is third with a $236 million gross.

The two new entries this week, Horrible Bosses and Zookeeper failed to bring in much audience. Both of these movies were comedy movies. While Zookeeper featured Kevin James who rose to fame after his smash hit Paul Blart Mall Cop, but still it faltered partly due to the growing success of Transformers and the declining star power of Kevin James.

Horrible Bosses opened to an estimated $28 million which was quite average for such type of movie. Zookeeper on the other hand lost to Horrible Bosses and opened to an estimated $21 million which was quite low especially for a Kevin James movie.

Below are the trailer for both of these movies.
