  • Apple Won’t Be Launching The iPhone 5 In September Afterall, New Report Suggest October Release

There has been a lot of contradiction as far as the iPhone 5′s (4S, 4GS or whatever it’s gonna be called) release date is concerned. We’ve narrowed it down to the months of September or October.

AllThingD quoted a source which knows highly about Apple’s plans.

“I don’t know why AT&T’s calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it’s not for an iPhone launch,” a source familiar with Apple’s plans said.

So when can we expect the company to uncrate the iPhone 5?

“October,” the source said, while declining to offer a hard-launch date. Other sources said it will be later in the month, rather than earlier.

The source failed to provide any details about the next iPhone’s design or internals but we’ve come to know from the supply chain that the phone will feature the iPad’s dual core A5 processor, a dual GSM/CDMA baseband radio and a 8MP camera will supposedly 1080p video recording.

  • Final Fantasy Versus XIII Won’t Be Shown At TGS

More sad news for all the JRPG fans who were hoping for a closer look at this long delayed game from Square Enix. It turns out that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is absent from the list of games that are to shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show in Japan.

According to a trusted source from NeoGAF, the confirmed TGS titles are XIII-2, Type-0, KH3D and Theatrhythm. Theatehythm is a new title from Tetsuya Nomura which will be a part of 25th’s Anniversary for Final Fantasy. According to the original user at NeoGAF

No Versus at TGS… think most people knew this though. Nomura has already decided on the timing of its next reveal, however.
THEATRhythm is the first game as a part of the 25th Anniversary for Final Fantasy.

Their confirmed TGS titles are XIII-2, Type-0, KH3D and Theatrhythm. They’ll have the open mega theater again, and the PVs will eventually be released on the web.

It is already confirmed that Versus XIII won’t be releasing on PS3 this year and their are no news yet of a release date in 2012. The only in-game footage of Versus XIII was shown during last year’s TGS which showed a lot of footage including impressive fights and beautifully rendered CGI cut scenes. The gameplay looked similar to Kingdom Hearts and was a lot more action oriented.

  • This Newest Addition To The Mortal Kombat Character Roster Will Give You Nightmares

Freddy Krueger is the newest addition to Mortal Kombat character roster. In case you didn’t knew about him, he is the famous villian of “A Nightmare On Elm Street” film series.

This DLC which is scheduled for release on 9th August will bring this iconic classic character to the Mortal Kombat universe. So far, we have about 3 new characters released as DLC in Mortal Kombat. These include, Kenshi, Rain and Skarlet. Freddy Krueger will be the fourth addition and will use his awesome skills for terrorizing the Mortal Kombat universe.

The introductory video shown below can tell us how he will fare with the fighting in the game. His moves look good and the fatalities are cool especially one of them pays homage to the original “A Nightmare on Elm Street” movie which also had a character die in a similar (not the exact) way.

His character model is quite true to his appearance with burns clearly visible on his face. He seems to pack some serious punch with his trademark claws which are almost similar to Wolverine. I guess now that we have got Freddy Krueger, Jason, who is also a famous fan favorite villain of “Friday The 13th” should also be added so that we can enjoy some Freddy Vs Jason fun just like in the movie.

  • X-Men Destiny New Screens And Trailer Show The New Generation Of X-Men

X-Men Destiny is the upcoming action game from Silicon Knights which is being published by Activision. We will control 3 different characters in this game and we will have the option of choosing either the good side or the evil side of the X-Men.

This game is slated for release on September 27, 2011 in North America. It will be released on PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS. This trailer was shown at Comic Con 2011 and we can spot the release date in this trailer.

The three characters that we can control in the game include a girl and 2 guys. Their powers are still unknown and their background story is shrouded in mystery. We will be able to control their actions throughout the game which will determine our outcome. Whether we will join the evil side(Magneto) or the good side(Professor X), it will all depend on the choices that we will make in the game.

Another new gameplay addition is the inclusion of X-Gene. It will allow players to experience mutant abilities of their favorite X-Men characters. So even though we won’t be able to play as Wolverine or Cyclops, we can still use their mutant powers.

A couple of new screens were released on HeroHQ which is the official page of X-Men destiny on Facebook. It shows some pre-order costumes as well as in-game images.

  • The Witcher 2 For Xbox 360 Delayed To 2012

The Witcher 2 is a PC exclusive which was recently announced at this year’s E3 for the Xbox 360. It was going to be released this year, but now it seems like it has been delayed to Q1 2012.

The game is being delayed for two reasons according to CD Projekt RED, the makers of Witcher 2. One reason is to provide more time to the development team so that they can focus more on expanding and polishing certain elements of gameplay. The other reason is due to the legal battle ongoing between CD Projekt RED and Namco due to the removal of DRM from the PC version of Witcher 2.

The Witcher 2 is an action RPG which was liked alike by both fans and critics. It had good sales figure and was a success for its developer CD Projekt RED. It is sequel to the original “The Witcher” on PC, which despite being lauded for its unique style gameplay and story, it was a horrible and buggy game. Later though, CD Project managed to patch the bugs by releasing updates for the game.

The original Witcher was also destined for a console release but never made it. It was announced for release in Fall 2009 but later it was cancelled.

This game is only announced for the Xbox 360, there is no news of any PS3 version so far.

  • PlayStation 3 Latest Firmware Update To Add Some Cool New Features

Sony has released the details on the upcoming firmware update for the PlayStation 3. According to official PlayStation blog, this new update will add the ability to auto-synch trophies and have a auto-upload function for online save data. There is a catch though, it is limited to PlayStation Plus subscribers only. Read more to find out the full change log.

Sadly, as we know, the most promising new features are only available to people who have a PlayStation Plus subscription meaning regular users won’t be able to enjoy it. So what about the regular users? What do they get with this new firmware update. Well according to the press release, the regular users are also getting some new features.

For starters, there is nothing really important. There is a new category added on XMB which will include all the Video Applications at one place for ease of use. There is also a new recommend function which will allow you to share you recommendations with others for PlayStation Store items. Along with these minor updates, this new firmware update will also bring updated support for 3D and Blu-ray playback. Read the official press release below:-

Hi everyone! As we are continuously working toward providing the best gaming and entertainment experience on PlayStation 3, I wanted to give you all a heads up on the following new features and changes coming with the next system software update (v.3.70).

To make things easier for PlayStation Plus subscribers, we’ve added the option to automate two existing features. The [Automatic Download] feature will now be called [Automatic Update] as a result of these new options.

A new auto upload function for online save data back-up will be added to make it easier to back-up your game save data. Under (Game), select the game for which you want to automatically upload saved data, and then press the Triangle button.
Also, Trophies will now sync automatically at the timing of Auto Download.
A new recommendation function will be added that enables you to share your recommendations for PlayStation Store items, such as games and videos, with PlayStation Network friends. You will be able to send messages with a store link from the product pages within the PlayStation Store.
Due to the increase in video applications being offered on PS3, we are adding a new category on the XMB called TV/Video Services. This category will include video applications such as Netflix, Hulu PLUS, and VUDU.

You’ll be able to find and download all of the video applications available on PS3 directly from this new XMB category.
A folder labeled “My Channels” within this category will allow you to easily access your downloaded applications.
Any videos downloaded from the PlayStation store will continue to be placed in the existing Video category on the XMB

Two updates for all of you enjoying Blu-ray 3D movies on PS3:

3D support will now be available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray
DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.
3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.

  • Resident Evil 4 HD And Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD First Gameplay Videos Released

Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica are getting a release on PS3 and Xbox 360. They will be fully HD remastered along with support for Trophies and Achievement Points. These new videos show us these remastered games in action for the first time.

Resident Evil 4 was one of the most critically acclaimed Resident Evil game of all time. It is one of my personal favorite and i have got a lot of fond memories with this game. This version will come with all the extras of the PS2 version which means we will also get Separate Ways, a side-chapter which dealt with the story of Ada Wong.

Since i personally played the PS2 version and never tried the Gamecube/Wii version, this gameplay video of Resident Evil 4 does appear to be a lot better and cleaner then its PS2 counterpart. The graphics appear to be better, frame rate appears much more smoother, as the PS2 version had slight hiccups on heavy scenes like shooting a exploding barrel and during some of the boss fights. The textures definitely look much better then the PC and PS2 version. You can see the gameplay video below. Make sure to view it in HD to see it in full glory.

Resident Evil Code Veronica was a Dreamcast exclusive Resident Evil game until it was later ported to PS2 under the title Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. I have personally played it on PS2 and i always heard that the Dreamcast version was the superior one with better graphics as compared to PS2. It is one of the many old-school style Resident Evil game which still retains the tank controls(Press up to go up, left and right to turn).

Based on the brief gameplay shown in this trailer. I can clearly see improvements compared to the PS2 version. The lighting appears to be better and the game has received a slight texture upgrade which makes it look better then PS2 version. Capcom claims that this version will have a new lighting engine and from this trailer, it certainly looks like it. See the video below and make sure to view it in HD.

Resident Evil 4 HD will be available on Xbox Live Games on Demand on September 20th while PS3 users will be able to grab it off PSN on 21st September. Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD will be available on Xbox Live Games on Demand on 27th September and PSN on 28th September. Both of these games will cost you $15 each($30 total for both) or equivalent to about 1600 Microsoft points.

  • Resident Evil HD Revival Selection New Screens Released

We previously posted about the gameplay trailers of these upcoming HD titles here, but we forgot to post screenshots. Now you can see these new screens and be the judge yourself. Can you spot the difference?

These HD remastered version of these fan favorite old games will be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 users will be able to enjoy these classics one day early then their PS3 counterparts.

Resident Evil 4 HD will be released on Xbox Live on 20th September while Code Veronica will arrive a little later on 27th September. Both will be available on Games on Demand rather then being a XBLA title.

PS3 users will get Resident Evil 4 HD on 21st September on PSN while Code Veronica will arrive on 28th September. You can read more details and and see gameplay video from here.

From the images below, Resident Evil 4 HD still looks fantastic despite being an old game. It hasn’t aged much with respect to current technology. Resident Evil: Code Veronica, on the other hand – looks a little old school. Nothing to worry though, it was still a fantastic game. The main thing that matters is the story and gameplay and both were quite good in Code Veronica. You can also dual wield guns as shown in the gameplay trailer.
