  • 5 Amazing Collectors Editions to look forward to

All these ‘Collectors Editions’, ‘Limited Editions’ and ‘Special Editions’ are created by developers to make the fans love the game a lot more, and to gain more knowledge about the game. At the same time, they are also a way to fish more money out of our wallets. Nonetheless, there is no doubt that some ‘special’ editions are quite worth the extra money. However, one must be careful not to purchase these very often, unless you want to have your wallet drained, or have a large amount of spare cash just lying there.

Here are 5 amazing game editions to look forward to:

    5.  Bioshock Ultimate Rapture Edition

bioshock ultimate rapture 5 Amazing Collectors Editions to look forward to

Although not announced by the developers themselves, the British Board of Film Classification has confirmed the existence of an Ultimate Rapture Edition. This will include the first and second Bioshock games along with all their DLCs. No pictures or further details have been revealed as yet. This edition is a wonderful opportunity for all those who have not yet tried the Bioshock games. It will surely get you ready for Bioshock: Infinite.

    Cost: Unknown

    4.Halo 4 Limited Edition

halo 4 limited edition 5 Amazing Collectors Editions to look forward to

Looks like Halo fans will be celebrating Christmas a little early. Not only does this Limited Edition come in a very sleek-looking case, but it also contains a lot of bonus content to keep you occupied for a while. Early Specializations and bonus in-game goodies are a few perks that you will receive if you buy this. Also, the Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn that is included in this edition of the game, will allow you to go deeper into the game’s history.

    Cost: $99.99

    3.  Assassins Creed III Freedom Edition

Assassins Creed 3 Freedom Edition 570x321 5 Amazing Collectors Editions to look forward to

The Assassin’s Creed 3 ‘Freedom Edition’ may not grant you freedom from everything, but it sure gives you a lot of other things to be ecstatic about. A 24″ figure of Connor, very detailed by the way, unlike most other figures bundled with games. George Washington’s notebook is also included in this edition which will help you discover the secrets of the Assassins and the Templars during the American revolution, hence granting the players access to information that will not be given in the game. And obviously, the edition will provide you with several single-player and multi-player goodies.

    Cost: $125.85

    2. God of War Omega Edition

gowoe 720x433 5 Amazing Collectors Editions to look forward to

Once again, this edition has not been announced by the developers, but has been listed by Playfront. Apparently, it will contain five God of War games; The main three games, Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta. These games will be shipped in a box along with a steelbook containing the art of the games and a bronze statue of Kratos, which will be individually available later.

    Cost: Unknown

    1. Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collectors Set

91VoXRHek6L. AA1500 480x480 5 Amazing Collectors Editions to look forward to

Capcom is being real generous this year. This is, by far, the most attractive ‘special edition’ of the year. This set comes with four games: Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Street Fighter x Tekken. And the set doesn’t end there. You also get a 8″ Ryu statue, an 11-disc soundtrack that contains all the tracks from all the Street Fighter games, a hardcover book that contains pieces by fans, a documentary, all the Street Fighter anime episodes, the Street Fighter II Animated Movie and movies for Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV. A lot to digest, isn’t it? As for the cherry on top, you get a replica of Ryu’s belt. Now you can be the warrior that you always aspired to be.

    Cost: $149.99

Bonus: Resident Evil 6 Premium Edition

This may be either ridiculous or amazing, depending on how much you love Resident Evil. This edition will include the game, four tablet skins and Leon’s jacket. Seems pretty cheap, right? Well, it’s not. This thing, which is only releasing in Japan, costs roughly $1300. Unless you’re a RE veteran with a lot of cash to spare, I recommend you stay away from this one.

These editions are a source of ecstasy for most gamers. Yes, they might be slightly expensive, but for the hardcore gamer, they’re definitely worth it. So, which one are you buying?

  • Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition Free and more for PS+ Subscribers

Sony has been very kind to it’s fans over the past few months with it’s PlayStation Plus scheme. And this months listing for PlayStation Plus is simply further proof of that.

But the fun doesn’t just end there. They will also be getting a 30% discount on Portal 2 and Portal 2 In Motion, the prices for which are $13.99 and $6.99 respectively. • Resident Evil – Operation Racoon City Detailed in the new OXM

As we first heard late last year, Capcom is apparently putting a new twist on the Resident Evil franchise with the help of SOCOM: Confrontation dev Slant Six Games. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, a squad based shooter, is reportedly the cover story of Official Xbox Magazine’s May 2011 issue.

The issue, which StickSkills claims to have obtained from an unnamed newsstand (pictured above) that routinely sells issues early, supposedly details a game in which players take on the role of Umbrella Corporation special forces on a mission to clean up Raccoon City following the events of Resident Evil 2.

According to the site, the team will have access to “big guns” and employ a number of tricks to fool and manipulate enemies — human or otherwise. Trying to kill series hero Leon Kennedy is said to factor into the game, with the possibility of friendly forces being deployed to protect him. Operation Raccoon City is reportedly in development for Xbox 360 and PS3, and is scheduled for release this winter.

  • Resident Evil 4 HD And Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD First Gameplay Videos Released

Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica are getting a release on PS3 and Xbox 360. They will be fully HD remastered along with support for Trophies and Achievement Points. These new videos show us these remastered games in action for the first time.

Resident Evil 4 was one of the most critically acclaimed Resident Evil game of all time. It is one of my personal favorite and i have got a lot of fond memories with this game. This version will come with all the extras of the PS2 version which means we will also get Separate Ways, a side-chapter which dealt with the story of Ada Wong.

Since i personally played the PS2 version and never tried the Gamecube/Wii version, this gameplay video of Resident Evil 4 does appear to be a lot better and cleaner then its PS2 counterpart. The graphics appear to be better, frame rate appears much more smoother, as the PS2 version had slight hiccups on heavy scenes like shooting a exploding barrel and during some of the boss fights. The textures definitely look much better then the PC and PS2 version. You can see the gameplay video below. Make sure to view it in HD to see it in full glory.

Resident Evil Code Veronica was a Dreamcast exclusive Resident Evil game until it was later ported to PS2 under the title Resident Evil: Code Veronica X. I have personally played it on PS2 and i always heard that the Dreamcast version was the superior one with better graphics as compared to PS2. It is one of the many old-school style Resident Evil game which still retains the tank controls(Press up to go up, left and right to turn).

Based on the brief gameplay shown in this trailer. I can clearly see improvements compared to the PS2 version. The lighting appears to be better and the game has received a slight texture upgrade which makes it look better then PS2 version. Capcom claims that this version will have a new lighting engine and from this trailer, it certainly looks like it. See the video below and make sure to view it in HD.

Resident Evil 4 HD will be available on Xbox Live Games on Demand on September 20th while PS3 users will be able to grab it off PSN on 21st September. Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD will be available on Xbox Live Games on Demand on 27th September and PSN on 28th September. Both of these games will cost you $15 each($30 total for both) or equivalent to about 1600 Microsoft points.

  • Resident Evil HD Revival Selection New Screens Released

We previously posted about the gameplay trailers of these upcoming HD titles here, but we forgot to post screenshots. Now you can see these new screens and be the judge yourself. Can you spot the difference?

These HD remastered version of these fan favorite old games will be released on both PS3 and Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 users will be able to enjoy these classics one day early then their PS3 counterparts.

Resident Evil 4 HD will be released on Xbox Live on 20th September while Code Veronica will arrive a little later on 27th September. Both will be available on Games on Demand rather then being a XBLA title.

PS3 users will get Resident Evil 4 HD on 21st September on PSN while Code Veronica will arrive on 28th September. You can read more details and and see gameplay video from here.

From the images below, Resident Evil 4 HD still looks fantastic despite being an old game. It hasn’t aged much with respect to current technology. Resident Evil: Code Veronica, on the other hand – looks a little old school. Nothing to worry though, it was still a fantastic game. The main thing that matters is the story and gameplay and both were quite good in Code Veronica. You can also dual wield guns as shown in the gameplay trailer.

    re4_dolphin

Early reports from the latest issue of Japan’s Famitsu magazine point to a new Resident Evil title for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Resident Evil Revival Selection. Unconfirmed details indicate the release is comprised of previous entries Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Resident Evil 4 was originally released as a GameCube game, but was later released on PlayStation 2, PC and Wii. Code Veronica, originally a Sega Dreamcast title, later came to the GameCube and PlayStation 2.

Note: Above image is from the GameCube release of Resident Evil 4 running on the Dolphin emulator.

    Update:

“It is now a confirmed news that a remastered HD version is coming.”
More details indicate the re-release consists of “remastered HD” versions of the two Resident Evil games, with little in the way of new features. Resident Evil 4′s “Separate Ways” mini-game is said to be included in the game.
