Every time Rockstar releases new screens for GTA V it makes me wonder, is there anything we can’t do in GTA V?

GTA V has been confirmed for release on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in September. We still don’t know if GTA V will make it’s way to PC, Wii U or the other next gen consoles. Will you be getting it? Let us know your thoughts on the game in the comments below.

  • GTA 5 Details Revealed!

This is the day we’ve all been waiting for. The day when we get details of a highly anticipated installment that is part of one of the best and most popular video game franchises. That’s right, Grand Theft Auto 5.

Today, Game Informer revealed a lot of detail about Rockstar’s upcoming game. We had reported earlier that the game would have three protagonists, as revealed by Game Informer’s GTA 5 cover, which you can see below.

game informer gta 5 cover 12 GTA 5 Details Revealed!

Here are all the other details that will have you dreaming about this game in excitement.

    • GTA 5 “evolves nearly every mechanic” found in previous games in the series.
    • Features the biggest open world in the series’ history – GTA 5′s world is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas and GTA IV combined.
    • Three playable characters who you can switch between “at nearly any time”.
    • Each character has their own specific abilities and story arc, with all three stories intertwined.
    • Camera zooms out to a “Google Earth-style” perspective when switching characters.
    • Character 1 – Michael, an ex-bank robber in his early 40s who retired after making a deal with the FIB. He has two teenage children and hates his wife Amanda. He’s also the narrator of the original GTA 5 trailer.
    • Character 2 – Trevor, a former war veteran and a “drugged out psychopath”. An experienced pilot.
    • Character 3 – Franklin, a repo man in his mid 20s described as a “young and ambitious hustler”.
    • Certain characters from GTA IV and Episodes From Liberty City will also make an appearance. Rockstar’s Dan Houser says we’ll never see characters from the PS2 era, though. “The five PS2 games are one universe, and this is the high definition universe, so they don’t co-exist,” he says.
    • No major actors cast as any of the main characters.
    • Focus on making more diverse missions.
    • Heists and bank robberies are a big theme to the game.
    • Characters will work together during missions, and you can switch between characters mid-mission to fulfill different roles. For example, during a chase sequence you can pilot the getaway helicopter as Trevor, snipe pursuing pilots as Franklin, or fire an assault rifle as Michael.
    • Missions will have a “very different tone depending on who’s on them, how many people are on them, and how much we’re using switches”, says Houser.
    • Even when you’re not controlling them, each character will still go about their own business across Los Santos. “You may be surprised by the situations they find themselves in should you switch back to check up on them,” says Game Informer.
    • Big advances to lighting and shader model. Greater draw distance.
    • Improved vehicle handling and physics – “The cars hold to the ground better… It feels more like a racing game,” Houser says.
    • More vehicles than in any GTA to date, including BMXs, mountain bikes, road bikes, dirt bikes, cars, trucks, helicopters, planes, ATVs and Jet Skis, but vehicle manufacturers are still fictional.
    • Fighter jets appear to be in. One screenshot shows a fighter equipped with missiles, as a helicopter explodes in the background.
    • Improved shooting and melee combat. Melee combat “never going to be as big a deal as shooting,” though, warns Houser.
    • Pedestrians are fully mo-capped and more interactive.
    • You can rappel down buildings, although it’s not confirmed whether this is specific to certain missions.
    • Los Santos is described as a “huge and diverse city”, combining the best of Red Dead Redemption’s “large open expanses” with GTA IV’s “densely packed urban environment”.
    • Areas in the game world include beachfronts, mountains, the wilderness, a “Salton Sea” region, a military base and the suburbs.
    • GTA: San Andreas was about gang culture. GTA 5 is about capturing the “contemporary culture of LA”.
    • There will be a “vibrant and fun” economy, but you won’t be able to buy property.
    • A variety of different side missions and “more sophisticated” minigames, including yoga, triathlons, Jet Skiing, base-jumping, tennis and golf. There’s a full golf course in the game. You can go scuba diving along the coastline of Los Santos, or go to the gym on the seafront.
    • Each character will have unique hobbies, including “one or two key minigame activities per character”.
    • San Andreas’ RPG-like player customization is still absent, but you can customize the clothing of each character.
    • GTA IV’s romance feature has been removed.
    • Like in GTA IV, players can make friends and hang out with certain NPCs, including Michael’s wife Amanda and son Jimmy, Franklin’s “crazy friend” Lamar, and Trevor’s mate Ron.
    • GTA IV’s mobile phone returns, but a lot of its features have been altered. You can use it to access the internet.
    • Dynamic missions – hidden missions dotted around the game world. “Going off-road in the desert, you may come across two parked cars and a sea of dead bodies around them… Investigate if you want.”

Take Two has also promised a lot of interesting things for the game’s DLC. Right now, I’m just glad that Blu Ray exists. All this content will sure be difficult to put onto DVDs. Lets wait and see how many discs the Xbox 360 will have this on.

The story doesn’t end there though. A bunch of screenshots were also revealed for your viewing pleasure. You can check them out below.

  • GTA V For Wii U And PC Are ‘Up For Consideration’

Just a few days after releasing the second trailer for their much awaited title – GTA V, Rockstar via Vice President Dan Houser let fans of the game know that the PC and Wii U version are still ‘up for consideration’ and very much possible.

gta v screen 528x320 GTA V For Wii U And PC Are Up For Consideration

IGN asked Houser about GTA V coming to the Wii U and PC:

Everything else is up for consideration,

That’s all I can give you. The main thing is we are not…we are a third-party publisher. We’re not Nintendo, we’re not Sony, we’re not Microsoft.

We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that’s on Apple we put something on Apple.

Wherever it might be. I think that’s the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don’t make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.

GTA V is confirmed for release for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Spring 2013.

  • GTA V Characters Leaked

Well looky what we have here, Rockstar apparently slipped up and let out an actor’s recruitment page. The page was posted on Actorpages by Take Two (The owners of the GTA franchise) as a private casting note.

Out of the characters only one has been identified as being legit according to the GTA Wiki:

James Pedeaston is a child molester wanted in Malaysia and is being investigated by the FBI. He hosted The Wild Traveler show on WCTR in 1992, although it is apparently syndicated to nine other stations (not heard in-game). He enjoys traveling the world and logging some of his most ‘exotic’ encounters in his travelogue, some of which he accidentally reads on-air to the disgust of the listeners. His favourite memory seems to be a relationship with a boy named Avrindar in Sri Lanka. His show appears to be so reviled by his listeners that at one point, he receives few calls which are not supportive. For example, a caller tells him to stop droning on about other countries and focus on talking about where he lives. At one point he received a phone call from a suicidal man in Verdant Bluffs who wanted to go to hell. Pedeaston replies with “Me too! Buy me a refrigerator magnet when you get there”. In GTA IV, he was arrested by the Indonesian police after being suspected of child molesting in Bali, Indonesia in 2003.

  • A New Batch Of Grand Theft Auto V Screenshots Fresh From The Oven

Rockstar is back, teasing us with more screenshots and making us die over and over in anticipation. This time the screenshots reveal an old-school propeller plane, a daring guy laser-aiming at a helicopter with his ‘what looks like’ an AK47 and helicopter chasing a man, well…not really, it just looks that way and it looks funny.

Last time we shared with you first three initial images that Rockstar revealed which showed a fighter jet you can pilot, a classic car returning and the San Andreas trademark of using bicycle as a transport means.

Rockstar is still tight-lipped about the release date and on which platforms will the game debut on.

The recent images show a wonderful upstream above which an old-school propeller plane, which is commonly used to train pilots, is flying above it. The visuals of the water look extremely photo-realistic and breath-taking. Good to see that Rockstar is doing a magnificent job in the graphics department.

Grand Theft Auto V so far:

Michael Hunter is the music composer for GTA V, Ned Luke will not be playing the lead role, San Andreas is the location for GTA V and still no release date or platforms announced for the title but we are hoping that it gets released this year.

Check out the new batch of screenshots below
