  • The First Custom ROM For The Samsung Galaxy S II Is Now Available For Download

The original Samsung Galaxy S had a very strong developer community behind it churning out excellent ROMSs like Darkys, looks like the same is gonna happen with it’s successor. pulser_g2 from XDA has released the first custom ROM for the Galaxy S II called the VillainROM 1.0, don’t be confused by the image above the ROM shall be fully stock. The ROM is based on XWKE2, the developer describes it as:

It’s fully deodexed, and I’ve resigned all the Samsung and stock applications with a new key-set, so that it’s much easier to make modifications to the apps in future. Villain Tweaks was a project of mine to “test the water” for modifying the apps in the SGS 2 ROMs. I hit issues I couldn’t get around, since the pre-installed apps were signed by Samsung.

Do note guys is ROM is in it’s primary stages and would take some time to be usable on the daily basis so install it at your own risk.

  • HTC Incredible S Locks Down Custom Roms

11x0324mn83cavxhtc HTC Incredible S Locks Down Custom Roms

So it seems just like the recently release HTC Thunderbolt the HTC Incredible S too is locking down against the use of custom roms. So it wasn’t just Verizon who wanted the phone locked to it’s default rom but HTC had a lot to do with it as well. The phone features a signature check when flashing recovery images so if you want to install a custom roms, the rom’s signature must match the default rom’s signature! So our best bet is to wait for someone to get us the password locked away in a utopia under the sea guarded by mermen.

  • Samsung Galaxy S II AT&T Variant’s Pictures Leaked, Features A Slide Out QWERTY Keyboard

BGR has received exclusive photos of the AT&T branded Samsung Galaxy S II which is yet to be released in the USA. The most distinctive part of the variant is that it features a slide out QWERTY keyboard like the Sprint variant of the previous Galaxy S: The Epic 4g.

BGR says this Galaxy S II variant manages to maintain it’s slim profile even with a QWERTY slider, could that make it the slimmer keyboard phone ever?

As you can see from the image above it’s indeed the rumored SGH-I927 which was previously thought to be the Windows Phone 7 powered Galaxy S II.

The BGR informant even managed to run some benchmarks which makes one thing clear: it’s bloody fast!

The camera is still 8MP with what it looks like a single LED flash. We’re still not sure that if the innards like the processor have been changed but we can say for sure is that the phone is indeed coming to the United States.
