  • TF2: Meet The Pyro With Pyromania Update

A couple of days ago Valve released the Pyromania Update which features a lot of new content. This was bundled with the Meet The Pyro video which is the ninth video in the “Meet The Team” series. Long awaiting fans can now finally know as to how the world seems when looking from behind a gas mask.

With the Pyromania Update, Team Fortress 2 gets a brand new gameplay mode called Doomsday. The mode pits BLU against RED and teams will be delivering a suitcase of Astralium to American Monkeynaut Poopy Joe’s rocket, so he can blast off and hunt down Soviet space chimp Vladimir Bananas (I swear that I did not make that up).

In addition to the new mode the update also adds ten new weapons to the game. Valve also threw in a bonus, anyone who plays the game between now and July 5th will receive a brand new vintage item.

If all that wasn’t enough, Valve went on to announce their Source Filmmaker which will be released soon. All the nine Meet The Team videos have been made using this tool and if you’re interested in film making then you need to check this tool out. For now you can head on over to their official page and sign up for a beta invite.

You can check out the new Meet The Pyro video below. This marks the end of the “Meet The Team” videos for Team Fortress 2.

Time to go back to TF2 eh?

That’s right, you read the title right. The sequel to the insanely popular Counter-Strike will do Zombies and what more is that the official launch of Counter-Strike:Global Offensive next week will be accompanied side-by-side with the Zombie mod, which was previously planned upon but now actually coming with the launch.

Developed with the collaboration of Plaguefest.com, players will get a chance to dive in and well…get a piece of all the brain chomping, undead horror action when CS:GO goes live next week. Steam is currently offering a 10% discount to all those who will pre-order the game.

Counter Strike Global Offensive Brand CS:GO Catches And Spreads The Zombie Virus With Zombie Mod

“It was important to us as we developed CS:GO to make sure it was as moddable and extensible as any CS game,” Valve noted in their blog on the official Counter-Strike site. “So this is just one of the many mods that will be available in the coming months.”

The mod will support up to 64 players at launch and one of the game modes identified was Zombie Reloaded.

In Zombie Reloaded, one player will start out as a zombie and will try to infect and spread the undead virus to all the players, while the other ‘human’ players will have to try to survive by building barricades, jumping, climbing or just by simply splattering the brains of the undead all over by shooting.

This mod, however, will only be exclusive to PC for now. No statements have been made whether these mods will make their appearance on their console counter-parts.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will raid the stores on 21st August 2012 for Microsoft Windows, MAC OS X, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems.

VALVE ANNOUNCES COUNTER-STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE (CS: GO)

Next Gen Console, PC, and Mac Release Targeted for Early 2012

August 13, 2011 – Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO).
Targeted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched exactly 12 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999).
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
“Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999,” said Doug Lombard, VP of Marketing at Valve. “For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac.”
CS: GO is being developed by Valve in cooperation with Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment. The title is targeted for release in early 2012 and will be playable at this year’s PAX Prime and London Games Festival.

Team Fortress 2, one of Valve’s biggest games is now free to play on Steam. The game has been played by millions of players across the PC, Mac and Xbox 360. It was initially reported that the game is free to play for a limited time but Valve later confirmed that this new change was permanent. Valve has also released a promo video to announce the news which you can check out after the break. What could be the reason behind making one of their best selling games free? Maybe they have Team Fortress 3 under production. Even thinking about it gives me goosebumps, but can Valve really count till 3? Only time will tell.

  • Hey Valve, Where The Hell Is Half Life 3?

“A Red Letter Day”. What is it, you ask? Let’s just say it is an event organized to show Valve that Half-Life 2 is not forgotten.

The event is scheduled for 4th February, at 11:00AM – 11:30AM PDT, 30,000 gamers will be playing Half-Life 2 in order to show their support for the game. A steam group, calling themselves “A Call for Communication”, has organized this particular event.

Why are we doing this? It will be a fun way to rally together, put Half-Life back in the spotlight and draw more people to our cause. We are not asking or demanding for anything; it will simply be a huge group of Half-Life fans playing one of the best games ever made. Who knows, maybe Half-Life 2 will even reach the top ten games played for that day.

Not only will this event cause Half-Life 2 to venture into the list of top ten games played today, but it will show Valve how much people love this franchise, and how they desperately want a Half-Life 3. Basically, the group is indirectly asking Valve to get on with HL 3 and bring joy to the hearts of so many gamers.

Valve does listen to it’s fanbase, and this may actually work. And even if it doesn’t, why would you object to playing an excellent game? Sure, this is a single player game. But it’s one hell of a single player game.

So, will you be participating in this event? because I know I will.
