OpenAI has announced support for iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins in ChatGPT. The new connections let people link Apple email and calendar accounts to the AI assistant, enabling searches of connected mail and updates to calendar events.
The additions expand ChatGPT’s existing set of account integrations, as first reported by Engadget. Gmail and other services already work with the platform, and iCloud support gives Apple account holders a route to bring the same type of personal information into their chats.
Apple account connections extend ChatGPT’s workplace role
Once an iCloud Mail account is connected, ChatGPT can search the email stored in that inbox. A connected iCloud Calendar account allows the service to update existing events, giving users a way to handle parts of scheduling through a conversation rather than moving between calendar screens.
The tools depend on users connecting the relevant Apple accounts to OpenAI’s service. They do not automatically provide access to iCloud information for people who have not authorized those connections.
For users whose work is split between Apple devices and web-based AI tools, the update may reduce friction around routine tasks such as finding a message or changing an appointment. It also puts iCloud alongside Gmail in a growing category of services that let chatbots work with personal data, raising the practical value of the assistant for people who rely on it during the workday.
Several details of the rollout remain unclear
OpenAI’s announcement does not specify its date, which ChatGPT plans or regions can use the plugins, or the complete range of supported email and calendar actions. The available information confirms mail search and calendar-event updates, while leaving open whether the integrations can create events, send messages, or perform other tasks within Apple’s services.
