Xseed CEO Shinichi Suzuki was quoted in the Press Release

It’s fantastic to be bringing such a highly-anticipated title like Pandora’s Tower to such a vocal fan base,

North American gamers have been very patient in waiting for this game to be released, and we’re confident they will be pleased when they get their hands on the title.

A short description of Pandora’s Tower is as follows:

A tale of unfortunate circumstances, Pandora’s Tower opens in the Kingdom of Elyria, where an unassuming singer named Elena succumbs to a wretched curse during a festival performance. Bearing an arcane mark on her back, she starts transforming into a savage monster, causing the town guards to attempt to kill her in order to prevent it. A young ex-mercenary named Aeron, whose heart has forever been pledged to Elena, whisks her away in the nick of time – and with the help of a mysterious witch named Mavda, he learns what must be done to avert her wretched fate. He must descend into The Scar, a massive chasm tied down by twelve chains connected to a floating island in its center, atop which sit thirteen interconnected towers. There, he must use his sword and a sacred chain to battle his way through each tower and extract the flesh of the boss “masters” that dwell within, which Elena must consume in order to reverse her ongoing transformation. But the clock is ticking! The longer Aeron takes to vanquish each beast, the less human Elena becomes, affecting her character and the game’s final outcome in a profound manner. Time is of the essence…

  • YouTube Has Been Blocked In Pakistan

YouTube has been blocked in Pakistan on direct orders of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Blasphemous content will not be accepted at any cost

ISPs have started blocking the website, the process will be completed soon with the website being unavailable nationwide.

Chief Justice of Pakistan previously ordered only the blocking of blasphemous videos on YouTube but now it seems the whole website will be blocked instead mainly due to copies popping up rapidly, allowing the video to still be available.

YouTube had previously denied a removal request of the said video from the White House saying how it doesn’t violate any of its community guidelines. The video is blocked in several countries including India, Malaysia and Egypt who registered complaints to do so. Pakistan instead of registering a complaint decided to block the video themselves.

How long will the blockade last? Guess only time will tell.

This is just four months after Twitter was banned but that was just for a day.

  • Borderlands 2 Review

The original Borderlands was a game that I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s quite uncommon to find RPGs with shooter elements and a very vast world filled with loot. Borderlands felt… different. It had it’s flaws, but it was a unique experience. Borderlands 2 is quite similar, and just as fun.

The sequel is a large improvement over the first game. Correcting many of the problems that were associated with the first game, and adding some new features of it’s own, Borderlands 2 offers a wonderful experience; one that will keep you glued to your seat for quite a while. I suggest you take a break from work or school before getting started with this adventure.

Borderlands 2 has four classes namely the Commando, Siren, Assassin and Gunzerker (pictured below).

    borderlands 2 review 1 720x405 Borderlands 2 Review

As you can notice, the first four are more or less like the classes offered in the first game. They’re different in appearance and action skills this time though. Another class, called the Mechromancer, will be available for download later on October 16th for $9.99 or 800 MS Points for PSN and XBL respectively, unless you pre-ordered the game, in which case you have obtained her already.

The story picks up where the first one left off. Oh, you don’t remember the first story? It doesn’t matter. Borderlands 1 had a very weak and boring story. It’s definitely not worth remembering. This sequel has improved on narration and story-telling, but the core story is still not worth it. Who cares about stories in most loot-driven Western RPG’s anyway? Remember the story to Diablo 3? Yeah, nor do I.

    borderlands 2 review 4 720x405 Borderlands 2 Review

Speaking of Diablo 3, I believe that Gearbox could have learned something off of Blizzard’s game: Independent loot. In Diablo 3, every player received his/her own loot. This, however, is not the case in Borderlands 2. This game goes back to the old ways when loot was shared amongst the players. When you kill an enemy, it’s a race against time to rush towards the dropped weapons and grab them before your enemy does. This can be problematic as most people online tend to pick up whatever loot they find, without caring about whether it’ll be useful to them or not. Beware of Ninjas and lag on this one.

    borderlands 2 review 2 720x405 Borderlands 2 Review

But the amount of loot in this game is just so incredible that you wouldn’t really care who took what. Loot drops very often and it’s easy to find new things. No gamer exaggerates when he/she mentions how much loot there is in this game. Trust me, it is more than enough to drive you and make you go crazy. And just like the tremendous amount of loot, the other content of this game is pretty large too. The entire area is quite diverse and vast, with a variety of enemies and bosses. Quite unfortunately though, there is not much to do except gain loot and kill. I spent most of my time just shooting. Obviously this is what you would expect from a first person shooter RPG, but I was expecting the gameplay to be overhauled in many aspects. But I guess that’s not much of an issue as this point relies heavily upon my personal opinion. Despite gameplay being repetitive, there are various side-quests to enjoy when you don’t feel like following the main story line. Although these side missions are hardly different as they too involve a lot of shooting, they are still fun and rewarding.

    borderlands 2 review 3 720x407 Borderlands 2 Review

Each class is unique and fun to play. Their action skills are quite important and can be improved as the character levels up. These skills are crucial when playing with friends as the enemies get harder and each player has to play his/her part to survive and help others to live as well. Without team work and co-operation, this game can be immensely tough online. But if you play with the right people of the right level and experience, you’ll have a lot of fun. Team co-operation and seeing everyone use their action skills in dangerous moments is fun and adds to the overall fun. I mean, who wouldn’t want partners while shooting everything you lay your fixed eyes on?

One thing Borderlands 2 failed to do was give freedom in customizing character appearances. This feature was not available in Borderlands 1 either, where you could only change the color of the clothes, but Borderlands 2 should have improved on this. After all, when you play online, do you not want your character to look different? Agreed that this is not an MMO and nor is it a Fantasy RPG where armor matters a lot, but even simple appearance changing options would have been appreciated. On the other hand, skill trees are very intriguing. You could spend hours on a skill tree only to restore your skill points and start all over again. This keeps continuing until you’re comfortable with a set of specific skills.

    borderlands 2 review 5 Borderlands 2 Review

One important aspect of every game is it’s sound. The sound effects were pretty good, but nothing extraordinary. The same goes for the soundtrack as I did not notice anything special that is worth praising. But at the same time, it wasn’t bad. Lets just say it suited the game. Lastly, this game has a lot of humor and this is one of the reasons I enjoyed it. The story was not worth my time, but the humor definitely was.

It all comes down to the final verdict then. Borderlands 2 is a great improvement over it’s prequel. Period.

The Good: The visuals are updated and enhanced, several flaws have been fixed, the online gameplay is fun, quests are rewarding and the amount of variety in loot and enemies is enough to keep you playing for weeks, maybe even months.

The Bad: The game’s story is not of any importance, there is hardly any freedom and character customization and loot sharing is a pain.

In the end, my point is, if you enjoy RPGs which can cause you to lose your job or get bad grades in school, then Borderlands 2 might just be the game for you. Seriously speaking though, fans of the original Boderlands and other Western RPGs will certainly enjoy Borderlands 2. I would personally recommend buying the game on the PC as it looks better (though it leeches a lot of power from your hardware), but purchasing it on the Xbox 360 or the PS3 won’t make much of a difference since the game is entirely the same.

TechDeville awards Borderlands 2 4.5/5 stars.

HTC is using a new kind of box which although we’re not sure what its made of resembles a mixture between foam and recyclable paper which makes it very easy to recycle. Tearing off the paper with all of the phone’s specification and other information gets you to the two piece box, removing the top of which presents you the phone sitting in the middle.

    Hardware

DSCF1139 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

The HTC One X measures in at 134.4 x 69.9 x 8.9 mm and weighs in at 130g which is very light for a phone this big, for comparison the Galaxy Nexus weights in close at 135g.

The HTC One X is a GSM only phone supporting quadband UMTS (850/900/1900/2100) which helps it support AT&T’s network in the US among others all over the world. AT&T’s One X sports a Snapdragon S4 processor instead of the NVIDIA Tegra 3 variant we have here, the prior  supports LTE but our only goes up to HSPA.

DSCF1095 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

The One X features a beautiful 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 720p screen with Gorilla Glass which HTC likes to call an “Infinity display”, also note that the One X’s display is a RGB pixel arrangement offering better viewing angles and image reproduction as compared to Pentile displays. One X’s display is THE best screen you can get on a smartphone.  There’s also the 1.5-Ghz Quad Core processor +1 companion core which help improve battery life when extra performance is not needed.

DSCF1165 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

We also have 1GB of RAM, 32GB of non-expandable on-board storage, WiFi b/g/n, DLNA, FM Radio with RDS, Bluetooth 4.0 and a whole set of sensors including an accelerometer, proximity sensor and auto-brightness sensor. The phone’s 1800 mAh battery is charged through the phone microUSB MHL port. The battery lasted us just over a day with heavy usage.

DSCF1102 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

The camera on the back of the One X is a f2.0 8MP 1080p sensor while the one on the front is a 1.3MP shooter mainly intended for video calls. The image quality is pretty g00d but certainly not the best; the colors can be a bit bland, the autofocus has problems focusing in at the right spot and the images have a lot of noise in low light. This is a shame since the One X’s camera application is really good.

    Design

DSCF1163 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

The HTC One X is one bea-u-ti-ful device and easily one of the best looking devices on the market. The One X is a much needed refreshment to HTC’s last year’s design portfolio.

DSCF1126 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

The phone is available in two colors, white and the black one which we have here. The front of the phone features the huge 4.7-inch “Infinity Display” which is basically the glass wrapping around the edges of the body of the phone, do note its just the glass that wraps around not the screen itself.

DSCF1134 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

The earpiece is built right into the phone’s unibody design instead of the standard metal grill, and it looks much better this way. Right to the speaker grill we have the 1.3MP front facing camera with all the front sensors just below it. The HTC One X brings with it many firsts from the Taiwanese company including a three button layout instead of the four they’ve used previously. Although we would have preferred no buttons at all, the three button combo is certainly not bad, although Ice Cream Sandwich requires a menu button so older apps will have a software menu button at the bottom of the screen taking around 80 pixels which can be a hindrance for some.

DSCF1108 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

On the top of the phone we have the power button to the right and removable SIM card tray and 3.5mm headphone jack to the left. On the left hand side of the One X we have the microUSB port while on the right side we have the volume rocker. On the back of the phone we have the 8MP shooter on the top along with the single LED flash, the speaker grill is at the very bottom just below the Beats Audio branding and finally to the top right is the five pin dock connector.

DSCF1136 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

Overall the phone feels really nice in the hands but the smooth backing doesn’t really allow you to get a firm grip on the phone. The polycarbonate backing might also pick up stains very easily although cleaning it isn’t too hard.

Like previous HTC phones, the HTC One X too comes with HTC Sense albeit a new and improved version called HTC Sense 4.0. Although Sense has been known for being a bloated mess and always offering eye candy while sacrificing performance. Luckily Sense 4.0 is a much need improvement and has been toned down a lot.

    Screenshot 2012 05 18 09 54 48 HTC One X Review

The widgets have been improved a bit but they still consume a lot of battery life and have problems updating at the right time, hence its better to manually update them. A new function in HTC Sense 4.0 which should’ve been added way back is the ability to add or remove homescreens unlike the previous versions which limited you to having seven screens. The notification has also been revamped and resembles stock ICS a lot as now it only displays notifications instead of a list of previously used apps.

    Screenshot 2012 05 17 09 00 25 HTC One X Review

HTC has greatly improved its Email client which is much better than the stock ICS client. You can have threaded conversations and even use Smartsync to improve battery life. HTC has also revamped the multitasking in Sense 4.0 making it much similar to WP7 Mango offering an over the top view allowing you to choose between multiple windows at once.

    Screenshot 2012 05 18 10 01 46 HTC One X Review

Although HTC didn’t pack in any Beats by Dr Dre headphones in the box the HTC One X does have the in-built Beats audio enhancer but to use it you’ll have to buy separate Beats audio hardware. You also get 25GB of Dropbox storage free with the phone so that’s definitely worth a mention.

    Performance

The HTC One X is the first Android phone to come with NVIDIA’s quad core Tegra 3 processor and we expected huge performance improvements over dual core processor, unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The One X can lag quite a bit in daily use, especially when opening folders and navigating through menus. Casual users won’t notice that much though.

DSCF1058 HTC One X HTC One X HTC One X Review

Benchmark performance was really good, the One X scored 4413 in Quadrant, 12834 in CF Bench and 48.571 MFLOPs (1.73 secs) in Linpack.

    Overall

The HTC One X is a brilliant phone but still has room for improvement. The Quad core Tegra 3 processor is pretty new and powerful but fails to offer lagless performance we all want from Android, we hope HTC fixes that with the S4 version of this phone.

  • What is Project Crystallis up to?

For those of you who are not aware, Project Crystallis is a fan-based movement that was created to gain information regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII and convince Square Enix to localize Final Fantasy Type-0. Originally, I was very excited to hear about this and was glad to see that fans were taking some action. Like many other Final Fantasy fans, I too have been waiting for Versus ever since it was announced seven years earlier. Heck, it’s one of the major reasons why I purchased a PlayStation 3.

Square Enix has cast a veil on Versus XIII for far too long. Sure, we’ve seen a few trailers, and received some information, but that’s pretty much it. The last trailer was revealed two years back, after which fans have waited eagerly, but to no avail. Project Crystallis aims to turn that around. But so far, with no success.

FF13Tear 566x320 What is Project Crystallis up to?

As it turns out, Project Crystallis is not strong enough. This can be seen by the fact that soon after Project Crystallis was initiated, a new fan-based movement focused on trying to achieve localization for Type-0 sprung up. The members of this new fan-based movement, called Operation Suzaku, managed to gain petition signatures faster than Project Crystallis. Sure, Operation Suzaku hasn’t been quite active or successful either, but the point here is that in it’s initial stages, Project Crystallis wasn’t properly focused on it’s objective which led to the second fan-movement being started.

Though, I must say that PC has improved recently, especially after our news article which was taken a little too seriously by the fans and received some heat on the PC Facebook fan page. The fans over at the page lashed out, not being able to handle unintended criticism from a news article, mind you. Chris, a member of Project Crystallis, said “We only seek unity between all of the awesome Final Fantasy fans, and not to divide us…”

Well, Chris, you haven’t been successful so far, have you?

He also said “We have a very firm plan of action in place with many fun and interesting things to come.”

Untitled24 What is Project Crystallis up to?

Chris was right there. Soon after, Project Playthrough commenced in which the PC members played through all the Final Fantasy games from I to XIII. This was definitely exciting and a good way to gain attention. I was an avid viewer myself, feeling a wave of nostalgia through every game. PC is right to wait and get larger before sending emails and phone calls, and these playthroughs were a good idea, but it’s been four months without any proper gain. If they wanted to wait before sending emails to Square Enix, they could at least utilize this time to get the attention of major video game websites such as Kotaku and IGN (Which, by the way, has not even written a news article on Project Crystallis yet). I see that PC is encouraging fans to send letters to Square Enix, but it’s sad to see how this is not getting enough attention. Instead, PC is too busy advertising irrelevent things on their Facebook page, as I will elaborate later.

What’s worse is that there is no Wikipedia article on the movement either. Since this is an internet-based movement, the lack of a Wikipedia article leaves the members worried and thinking of whether or not PC is serious. It’s quite obvious that fans would search for Project Crystallis to get information about it. And what’s the best place to get information? Wikipedia. See what I’m pointing at?

Furthermore, we have received reports that the donations received by PC are being put into questionable uses. Member, Chris Mix has contacted sword crafter Michaelctulhu to purchase a Buster Sword that is worth $1,200. The objective of purchasing this Buster Sword is to ‘smash through different items for each 1000 petition signatures’ PC receives. In fact, Chris is willing to pay more money to be bumped up on the crafter’s order list. I highly doubt this money is coming out of Chris’s own pocket.

According to our source, PC aims to create a video of themselves smashing items with the Buster Sword in order to garner views on YouTube and hence make PC more renowned.

Untitled18 What is Project Crystallis up to?

Not only is this move childish and immature, but it is also unethical on PC’s part to use donations to buy an expensive replica for themselves. Ultimately, this will remain with the members of PC. In other words, they’re buying a toy for themselves. If they’re really intent on making this video, why not simply purchase a cheap replica or create their own Buster Sword (trust me, it’s not hard) and save the money from the donations? It’s not like anyone will be examining the sword to check if it’s authentic. Even if it’s not, it should not make a difference. What’s more is that it is very difficult to believe that such a video would go viral. There are already a large number of such videos on YouTube and they are no way viral.

Okay, fine, if donations are used to pay domain prices and other necessary costs, that’s fine. But for a non-profit organization, PC does seem to have quite a few expenses. They also purchased two HD capture cards which were used for Project Playthrough. This is a reasonable purchase, but these cards cost about $200, maybe more. Once again, donations were being used for these purchases, when one can simply rent these, or borrow them from others since it’s only for a few games.

And then there are the giveaways. I doubt these are being funded from sources other than donations either. Giving away games and items is fine, but is it really necessary? There are a number of better ways to promote yourself without spending money. PC needs to learn. Just recently, they pre-ordered Final Fantasy Versus XIII for a fan for creating a Little Big Planet level that was related to PC. This person definitely deserves to get something, but spending $60 on him just doesn’t seem right. Now I know fans reading this will lash out once more as they read this, but they need to realize that donations are not being put to good use. Did the people really want their donations to be spent on a game for someone else?

Lastly, what’s up with the upcoming web comics? I mean, seriously? What’s the point of web comics? Are you trying to turn into a comic page now? I like comics, and a comic with FF-like characters and an FF-like story would be great, but PC is not supposed to be about comics. It’s supposed to be about some serious work regarding Versus XIII and Type-0. I hope they have not forgotten that.

Yes, these comics are based on the PC members themselves. They’ve been getting quite popular. Now, that’s not a bad thing, but could it be that they’re focusing more on their own popularity and how to boost it, instead of working? One of the PC members, Evyn, is going to dye her hair pink because 956 people saw her post. What has hair got to do with that anyway? What relation does her hair have with Final Fantasy? This is like a publicity stunt, except that it’s for Evyn itself instead of Project Crystallis.

Oh and everyone should take a look at this. Apparently, a replica of Cerberus from Dirge of Cerberus Final Fantasy VII was being given away earlier to the person who could correctly answer questions. Of course, one would expect such questions to be related to Final Fantasy, right? Wrong.

    5. Who ordered Chris’s pizza?

    13. What beer was Kushi drinking on camera?

    18. Why did James break up with his girlfriend? (two points)

These were the questions asked. It’s like the members are considering themselves to be celebrities. They expect people to be like the paparazzi, stalking their every move. I understand that the purpose of the questions and of the giveaway were to attract more people in Project Playthrough, but this is completely immature and I’m pretty sure it didn’t attract a lot of people. No one should be desperate enough to observe these people intently and listen to stories about breaking up with girlfriends.

Untitled20 What is Project Crystallis up to?

Basically, PC has no Wiki page, no recognition from major websites, unneeded expenses and still no clear focus. Why? Because the members are too busy having fun and indulging in unnecessary acts such as dying their hair pink to show the fans, trying to buy expensive toys, creating web comics and executing immature and irrelevant publicity stunts.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Project Playthrough (save for the useless bits) and I might enjoy the comics too. But this is not helping with the Versus XIII and Type-0 situation. Project Crystallis is like a fancy car, overly decorated with vinyls and fancy lights, but with no wheels.

    Step your game up, PC.
