Editorial: iOS 4.3.5 Untethered Jailbreak Won’t Be Possible On iPhone, iPod Touch And iPad

As most Apple users may know by now Apple unexpectedly released iOS 4.3.5 a few days ago which was Jailbreaked a few hours later, you can check out the guide here. So we have some good news that it CAN be Jailbroken but that jailbreak is unfortunately tethered and we don’t think that an untethered jailbreak is gonna come out anytime soon.

iOS 4.3.5 was released 10 days after iOS 4.3.4 which patched the PDF vulnerability in Safari which allowed users to use Jailbreak.me to Jailbreak their devices. It was all in vain though since Comex released PDF Patcher 2 which retailed both the venerability and the Jailbreak, Apple knowing this still went through with iOS 4.3.4.

So that is the only reason iOS 4.3.5 was a very unexpected release since we expected major changes to come forth in iOS 5 which has already hit it’s 4th BETA. So what does iOS 4.3.5 brings forth you ask? According to Apple it has something to do with fixing “certificate validation” which could lead to a major security risk is left as it is.

So basically iOS 4.3.5 is gonna be obsolete in just a few weeks and creating an untethered Jailbreak is very hard and the iPhone Dev Team and other Jailbreakers will want to focus more on iOS 5. We might be able to expect an iPad 2 tethered Jailbreak in the future but as far as untethered Jailbreaks are concerned their chances are very low.
