  • Entourage Season 8 Episode 3: One Last Shot

Entourage’s last season had a slow start for me, but this third episode made an impact. It instantly went from slow-paced to riveting in an episode! This episode they show Vince giving a speech about his rehab and how he changed, in the meeting he sees Carl. Remember Carl? The guy from four seasons ago who offered Vince a part in his movie “Danger Beach” but screwed him off of it. He was in rehab too and wanted to make peace with Vince. He approaches Vince with excuses as to how he used to be an addict back in the day and now wanted to make a fresh start with Vince’s new script. But Vince breaks news to him of him wanting to make Johnny the lead in the movie, Carl agrees if Vince would give him the chance to work with him again.

On the other hand, Turtle gets a gold watch from Carlos and also bad news. He tells Turtle that his girlfriend has found someone and they are also moving to a bigger distributing company which makes Turtle just a shareholder. Ari gets an advice from Vince that he should see other people much like his wife. Accepting Vince’s offer, he sets a date with a young girl. The date goes horrible as Ari doesn’t feel like the girl was mature enough for his age or humor. On the way back, Ari calls Dana Gordon, and visits her. This little reunion was awesome as I loved the rivalry between them over the years. Over at the animation studio, Andrew Dice takes off and wouldn’t record again if his quote wasn’t met. Because of which, Dice gets fired from the show and an extremely lame replacement gets placed.

Vince visits Carl even when Ari told him not to. Carl seems to be stoned out of his mind, gives Vince a script entitled “TaxMan” and wants him to star in it as the lead. Vince, not interested in anything but his own script, tells Carl he wasn’t expecting this from him again. Carl runs into the bathroom and locks himself in. While Vince and Turtle keep knocking on the door to put some sense in him, he shoots himself in the bathroom. And this is what I call progress! Never in the entire series have I seen a more serious and mature episode than this, this is true awesomeness and I wish the season keeps this vibe going! The title of the episode “One Last Shot” was very cleverly given, as the last scene in the episode is Carl shooting himself. It also implies to Turtle and Vince having their last “Shot” of Avion as they both sell their stocks. Amazing episode!

  • Entourage Season 8 Episode 2: Out With A Bang

Episode 2 of the last reason of Entourage started off with Vince writing the first ten pages of the movie he wants Johnny to do. While the crew is happy with him being positive, E points out a lot of grammar mistakes in the script, which is an ode to even the richest people in Hollywood can’t spell, it was a funny scene. The animated cartoon series “Johnny’s Bananas” is set to be screened for testing which has the whole studio scared of the rating it’ll get. While Turtle is busy promoting Avion, he finds out that his girlfriend’s been calling his co-workers but not him. Ari gets information from Lloyd, the soon to be head of the TV department, that he saw Mrs. Gold in Ari’s favorite restaurant but he says she was alone.

A frustrated Ari, goes on another one of his power trips again and finally finds out that his wife is dating a chef. The news embarrassed him and his wife comes to his office to tell him to stay away from her life. E & Sloan finally end it completely when Sloan tells him she’s moving to New York for good. Vince gets Billy Walsh to direct Johnny’s new movie. The season has been kind of slow in terms of progress to the big finish. I didn’t see a lot of cameos either. In previous seasons, the show was filled with big names appearing in the show, last year they had Eminem appear in the last episode.

Johnny’s Bananas tests through the roof and while Johnny’s happy with it, Andrew Dice Clay isn’t. Asking Johnny to walk off the show and ask for more money. They’re really bringing down Dice’s already dead image in real life, either they’re going to show him as a good guy in the coming episodes or Dice is going to see his already lost fanbase getting even more bleak. Judging from the progress, Season 6 is still my favorite in the entire series, it was short and exciting. WE WANT MORE CAMEOS!

  • Entourage Season 8 Episode 1: Home Sweet Home

It’s been one long year since I’ve seen the crew back together. Entourage is sadly at its last season, season 8. While there are a few million fans out there who’d disagree on the show ending, I don’t think they could’ve gotten any bigger than they already are. Season 7 ended with a highly disappointing and weak story, porn stars and cocaine being the highlight of the season. I had high hopes for the last season, and the first episode starts off with a safe and awesome start. Spoiler alert!

So Vince is finally out of rehab and is completely sober. They’ve brought back the old Vince, the one we used to love from the Season 2 days. Ari Gold and Mrs. Ari have separated and while Ari still tries to get her back, she breaks it even worse by telling him she’s seeing someone. Johnny Drama is busy at work on his new TV show “Johnny’s Bananas” with comedian Andrew Dice Clay (playing himself) as a stuck-up washed out old actor who needs money and fame again!  E and Sloan broke off too, but E and Lavin made their own company “Murphy Lavin” which is pretty awesome (love the logo too).  Turtle, looking as thin as ever, is having trouble communicating with his girlfriend who’s off on a publicity tour for Avion.

The highlight of the episode was Johnny trying his hardest to keep the house alcohol-free for Vince’s return. Vince presents the group with a movie idea, which everyone hated and were too scared to tell him if it would hurt his feelings and bring him back to his sniffing days again. In the end, Vince sets everything straight, while Turtle manages to get the house on fire. The episode ends with Ari in tears because of his wife and Eminem’s “Till I Collapse” hits the credits. An awesome start to an amazing last season!

  • Android Ice Cream Sandwich First Screenshots And Information Leaked

This is the real deal guys, Android Police And RootzWiki got their hand on a total of four (two each) screenshots of Google’s latest mobile operating system Ice Cream Sandwich which is suppose to be released sometime this year. Pictures below:

As you can see this T-Mobile Nexus S 4G is running Ice Cream Sandwich! We presume it’s directly called by it’s name and not by it’s number like Android 3.0 or 4.0 because maybe Google itself is not sure of what to call it. Majority of the changes are for the UI like now the prominent color theme is Blue and it’s everywhere.

The icons and such were blacked out to ensure the the identity of the source stays anonymous. Also although these screenshots feature a Nexus S running Ice Cream Sandwich the OS will launch with the Nexus Prime (Nexus 3) and will be available later on the Nexus S.

The major changes RootzWiki noticed are as follows:

    • Blue Themed – Like our site (Change theme on bottom)
    • Camera has built in panorama mode
    • Will launch with Google Shopper and NFC Enabled devices will be able to utilize those features
    • Gmail is all rethemed
    • Will be available for the Nexus S
    • Nexus Prime gets it first (expected) then other devices will follow after
    • Not too many changes, just UI things, don’t think requirements are set too high for year old devices to run it
    • The little icon in the bottom right, looks like a tray with multiple apps in it
    • Google search bar embedded on very top like Honeycomb
    • Apps/Widgets launcher a lot like Honeycomb
    • This release is still very early, notice the theming of the power tray

  • Kingdom Hearts HD Collection In Works?

While there is no news yet on a Kingdom Hearts game for this generation. Tetsuya Nomura has stated in an interview with Dengeki PlayStation that he is preparing for a “HD technology test” for Kingdom Hearts which might impact future releases of Kingdom Hearts series.

What does this “HD technology test” mean? Is it some sort of visual demo only for Kingdom Hearts like Square Enix showed Final Fantasy VIII and Final Fantasy VII tech demo for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 at the time of their announcement on E3. Maybe we could get a new Kingdom Hearts game on PS Vita, which is an upcoming and powerful handheld from Sony. Maybe, it is a HD remake of Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 which were released way back on PS2.

Regardless of whatever it is, there is no way it could be Kingdom Hearts 3. There is already a rumor circulating the web that a Kingdom Hearts HD Collection will be announced to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Kingdom Hearts series. Since Nomura stated that the main reason for this “HD technology test” is to introduce new fans to the series, we can guess that it means re-releasing the original games that started it all in HD on the current generation consoles.

The last Kingdom Hearts game to be released on consoles was way back in 2006 (not counting re-releases) when Kingdom Hearts 2 graced the PS2. After that, we have yet to see a release on Next Generation consoles like PS3 or Xbox 360.

The following are instructions on How To Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 5 on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch and iPad using Redsn0w 0.98b5.

The complete guide after the break.

    Tools You’ll Need:

iOS5 Beta 5 Firmware File. Click Here.

    Redsn0w 0.98b5. Click Here.

    Step One

Download the official IPSW (Depending on your device). Download and extract Redsn0w. For convenience, place all of them in a folder on the desktop, like so:

    Step Two

Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes. When the phone shows up in iTunes select it from the list of devices on the left.  Now hold down Shift and press the restore button. You can also choose to update but restore is recommended; it’s always better to get a fresh start.

    Step Three

As soon as you press Shift+Restore, a window will pop up asking you to select the IPSW file to be used. Point it towards the Official 5.0 Beta 5 IPSW you placed in the Jailbreak folder on the desktop.

    Step Four

Once iTunes has successfully flashed your phone to the desired firmware, navigate to the Jailbreak folder on the desktop and launch Redsn0w.exe.

**Windows 7 users may need to run RedSn0w in Vista compatibility mode. You can do this by right clicking the executable and selecting Properties from the contextual menu

Once redsn0w opens, click the browse button.

    Step Five

A windows will pop up asking you to select the Official IPSW file for your desired firmware. Point it towards the Official 4.3.3 IPSW you placed in the Jailbreak folder on the desktop.

You will then be asked (if using a 3GS) if your device is a newer “fixed” model. If your’s is, then press the Yes button, click the No button otherwise. If you aren’t sure then simply press the Yes button.

    Step Six

Once the firmware has been successfully identified click Next. Redsn0w will then prepare the jailbreak data.

After the data has been prepared you will be shown a menu where you can select different jailbreak options. You may select specific options depending on your needs, but for now we will only select “Install Cydia”. Select that option and then hit next to continue.

    Step Seven

Connect the iPhone to the PC and then proceed to switch it off. Once the phone is fully turned off click Next. Remember to hold the phone in your hand before you press next  as you will have to press various buttons on the phone to make it  enter DFU mode.

    Step Eight

After pressing next, instructions to enter DFU mode will appear. To enter DFU mode, hold the power button for 3 seconds, then without letting go of the power button press the home button and power button together for 10 seconds after which let go of the power button and continue to hold the home button until your PC detects the phone. It may take several tries to get into DFU mode.

Once the phone has entered DFU mode, the process will begin. The phone will reboot.

When it’s completed it will show you this message. The phone will then reboot and the rest of the process will continue on your device.

Once your iPhone is done being jailbroken, you should see Cydia on your SpringBoard. This means the jailbreak has been carried out successfully. Congratulations on jailbreaking your iPhone 4/iPhone 3GS tethered on the iOS 5 beta 5 firmware.

NOTE: How to boot tethered jailbroken iPhone 4/iPhone 3GS after reboot, launch RedSn0w and select “Just boot tethered right now”.

  • Forbes Ranks Apple as 5th Most Innovative Company

Forbes has published their list of the Top most innovative countries and ranked Apple at the 5th position.

The top five companies are Salesforce.com, Amazon.com, Intuitive Surgical, Tencent Holdings, and Apple. Google placed 7th, Adobe placed 54th, and Microsoft placed 86th.

How is it calculated? We first project a company’s income (cash flows, in this case) from existing businesses, plus anticipated growth from those businesses, and look at the net present value (NPV) of those cash flows. We compare the NPV of cash flows from existing businesses with a current market capitalization: Companies with a current market cap above the NPV of cash flows have an innovation premium built into their stock. Big caveat: This method does not correlate with subsequent investor returns.
