  • New PS3 Models to Limit HD Viewing?

Rumours about this have been widespread, first appearing on a gamespot article sometime back. Now Sony has issued the following statement on the pressing matter:

”The new CECH-3000 series PS3 requires HDMI only for BD movie output in HD, in compliance with AACS standards. PS3 continues to support component output for HD gaming and streaming content.”

Sony – according to a document nabbed by kotaku – was planning on releasing new PS3 models that could limit the HD viewing through HDMI cables only.

Whether the above statement confirms that is yet to be ascertained.

  • iPhone 5 Launching On October 4th According To Internal AT&T Documents

Oh boy these iPhone 5 rumors don’t stop do they? We have a new one every week or so. This one about the iPhone 5′s release date does have some steam behind it since it was mentioned in some leaked AT&T documents.

As you can see from the image above (click for full size) the documents which are titled ‘AT&T Mobile Insurance Eligible/Ineligible/Tiered Deductible Equipment List’ revealed the information about the newest iteration to the highly successful iPhone. The documents inform about an increase in the fees from $4.99 to $6.99 along with a new tier being created called tier 3 which consists of devices costing $199.

This occurs on October 4th 2011, in conjunction with a new tier, Device Tier 3, that is $199.

October 4th occurs on a Tuesday which could just mean AT&T adding the phone to their insurance records and not the release date but a release in the month of October is pretty plausible.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance is the first ever CGI animated movie of Tekken which has been in development since January 2010. It will be released in theaters in Japan on September 3 and will be released in 3D. Now Namco Bandai has decided to show a screening of this movie in US before it premiers in Japan.

The screening is currently scheduled for July 26th and will be a limited screening for one day only. It will also feature interviews with various Tekken staff as well as Cowboy Bepop screenwriter Dai Sato. Below you can see the first trailer for this CGI movie.

It looks awesome so far and we are pretty excited to watch it. It features some nice action scenes and the animation looks quite good. People who think this will be crap should know that its screenplay is written by Dai Sato, the man who is behind animes like Cowboy Bepop and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Digital Frontier who also handled the animation in Resident Evil: Degeneration will be lending their efforts to this title as well.

If you are interested in seeing it then you can get tickets and other details from this website here. These screening will be of the dubbed version, below is a trailer of the dubbed version.

Blood Vengeance will be feature a story parallel to both Tekken 5 and 6. It’s story will focus on events that take place between the timeline of Tekken 5 and Tekken 6. It is like a suspense action film. It will be released on Blu-Ray disc on November 2011. We will surely grab this Blu-Ray as we are a die-hard Tekken fan.

  • Verizon Rolls Out Latest HTC Thunderbolt Update

Thunderbolt owners today will get an update for their blazing fast LTE 4G phones which will put them in a dilemma to update or not to? Why you ask? Well the update fixes a lot of stuff including the random reboots, enhances data connectivity, and fixes the Bluetooth discovery mode problems among others. Those were the good things now onto the “bad” ones, the update installs a lot of new bloatware like V CAST Music, V CAST Videos and My Verizon which as you know are not that good apps.

And that’s not it folks the update also removes the beloved free mobile hotspot feature, bummer eh? In the end it’s your choice if you want to take the plunge or not, we just want Verizon to start working on Gingerbread bread for the Thunderbolt.

  • Pass Initiative Confirmed

The speculations surrounding PlayStation Network’s Pass initiative have been proven correct, and will be put into effect through Resistance 3.

Pass system will work in a similar manner to those already in use by third Party Publishers like THQ, and Electronic Arts.

Gamers are required to put the code to use bundled with a brand new game, or purchase it otherwise.

Just when we thought “THE Final Destination” was supposed to be the last movie of the series, here comes another one. Final Destination 5 will feature more mindless killing and awesome carnage. • Transformers: Dark Of The Moon Is A Smash Success

Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which opened last week, has created a new worldwide opening record by making a mammoth $382.4 million in its opening week. This record gross is 2nd to Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and the first one this year next to Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides $350 million opening.

It came close to breaking the foreign opening weekend record set by Pirates 4 but came short of $41 million despite both movies having premium 3D ticket prices. Pirates 4 made $260 million while Transformers 3 managed to gross $219 million.

It also created Independence Day weekend gross record by grossing $400+ million worldwide in just a week. It has just passed 9 days in theaters but has grossed more than 500+ million so far which breaks the record set by both Pirates movies(At World’s End and On Stranger Tides)

3D movies are increasing everyday, while Pirates 4 had less 3D ticket sales as compared to Transformers 3. The premium price of a 3D ticket which is more than a normal movie ticket is a large factor due to which we are seeing some blockbusters gross much more then their predecessor despite having a much more flawed story and presentation.

Transformers 3 gross stands at $511 million worldwide now. It has managed to gross $214 million in America alone along with $297 million from foreign markets. If it continues its pace like Pirates 4 on the foreign market, it won’t be surprising if we see it hitting $1 billion worldwide gross by the end of its run. See the launch trailer below.
