  • Google preparing Google Maps app for iOS

When Scott Forstall demoed iOS 6 way back in June, he showcased the new Apple Maps as the single biggest addition to iOS’s latest iteration. Backed by TomTom and with novelty features like 3D, Apple’s hopes were to replace the existing Google Maps with a better alternate. We all know how badly it eventually turned to be. So much so that it cost Scott Forstall his job. The hopes of iOS users are for a Google Maps app for iOS. We’ve heard rumours about this much awaited app before but nothing concrete.

Wall Street Journal reports that Google is currently working on a Google maps app for iOS and that the company has distributed a test version of this app to some people outside the company. Google is currently putting on the finishing touches on this before they put it on iTunes for approval. When that will happen is unclear at this point though previous speculations pointed towards a December release.

What’s even more important is whether Apple will approve this app or not. Google Maps app for iOS will compete directly with the built in Apple Maps, and we all know how Apple feels about apps replicating built in functionality. As an iOS user, fingers crossed.

  • Apple’s mobile market share stands at 5.5% in Q3 2012

The smartphone market is an extremely competitive market. Many different manufacturers fighting to take their shares of the market and profits. In order for them to achieve this they need to come up with new products all the time to keep customer interest and keep competition in check. Apple is one such company. Apple’s mobile market share has always been somewhere in the top 3. Figures just released by Gatrner enforce that fact.

The above table shows figures from this quarter. Apple’s mobile market share currently stands at 5.5%. Compared to same time last year it’s a growth from 3.9%. Sales increased from 17 million to 23 million. Apple’s mobile market share is still a distant third to Nokia and Samsung which stand at 19.2% and 22.9% respectively. Samsung even managed to sell nearly a 100 million phones. Nokia managed 82 million. It’s however important to note that most of these high sales figures come from cheap feature phones in developing markets. Apple’s iPhone isn’t exactly cheap and neither is it part of many developing markets. Apple’s iOS accounted for 13.9 percent of the smartphone operating system market share

Worldwide sales of mobile phones to end users reached almost 428 million units in the third quarter of 2012. overall mobile phone sales were down 3.1%, smartphone sales were up 47% year over year.

  • Tekken Producer Wants Project X Zone Localized

Western Fans have been raiding Bandai Namco staff through social media showing their excitement for the company’s upcoming tactical fighting game – Project X Zone. The game is scheduled to be released next with month in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS with no plans for localization in other regions.

When fans asked Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada about Project X Zone he tweeted the following:

Please note that this is no way a confirmation of the game being localized. Although Harada-San is definitely a major player in Namco Bandai and if fans have convinced him of the game’s potential overseas then this is we should consider this a battle won in an on-going war of localization.

There’s also a fan based localization community for Project X Zone, so if you’re interested in getting the game localized you might want to check them out. You can find their Facebook here.

  • Combat Details for Remember Me Revealed

Capcom’s new game, Remember Me, has been given a chance to be explored further as it’s combat details were revealed today. The game will give the players the freedom of creating and customizing their own combos in the Combo Lab. By re-organizing four families of combos, called Pressens, players can create a unique several chains.

There are about 24 Pressens available in the game which can be unlocked using PMP (Procedural Mastering Power), obtained by finishing off your enemies and performing combos. The four Pressen families available are:

    • Regen Pressens: As the name indicates, they will regenerate your health every time you land a hit. Apart from that, they will also do some slight damage.
    • Power Pressens: These will deal heavy damage and trigger finishing moves.
    • Cooldown Pressens: They do a small amount of damage and reduce the cool down for special moves.
    • Chain Pressens: They duplicate and double the effect of the previous Pressens in the chain.

Special moves are also available which require Focus, gained by performing combos. These special moves are called S-Pressens and can be obtained at key-points in the story. There are five S-Pressens in total. These are:

    • Fury: A freeflow move, allowing the character, Nilin, to flow from enemy to enemy, attacking harder and over long distances.
    • D.O.S.: Enemies are stunned, invisible enemies are revealed and special moves are cancelled.
    • Camo: Turn invisible and execute a finishing move.
    • Logic Bomb: Damage is dealt to all enemies and shields are broken in this explosive attack.
    • Rest In Pieces: Robots are turned into allies who will help you defeat ground-based enemies.

Furthermore, Pressens can be combined into a single combo called a multi-usage combo. Also, the later a Pressen appears in a combo chain, the stronger it will be. All the while during combat, the players input and the family type of the Pressen will be shown on screen. According to Capcom, 50,000 combinations can be made with the Combo Lab. Lastly, when Nilin is low on health, or the move that she is using is ineffective, the screen will “glitch” to indicate this and warn the player.

The usage of the Combo Labs distinguishes this game from others, but will it be enough for this game to be good?

  • iPhone 5 is out, Which iPhone is worth its value?

Apple’s latest product is always a fashion for people, they want to grab it in first place. iPhone5 is also a hype for people, they want to grab it on very first day. iPhone 5 made a dramatic entry in the market, and some reports shows, iPhone 5 has broken all market records and it’s sold on a large scale on its very first day of release. Being an Apple fanatic I would love to buy this new masterpiece iPhone but before making iPhone 5 a last option we should look at facts and figures. Though iPhone 5 is now on stores but iPhone 4 and 4s are still on stores and offering a lot of features in discount deals.

iPhone 5′s features list shows that it is best iPhone until now, as far as specifications are concerned. A6 chip with 1 GB RAM and 64GB version shows better aspects of iPhone 5. Camera result, panorama effect and face time are extra features but still price and other things should be considered while selecting a iPhone for purchase in this summer.  iOS 6 upgrade comes up with different features but they work almost same for iPhone 4s.

So before going for purchases you must have a look at comparison between three iPhones in stores. Comparison is set accordingly with the services they come up with iOS6 installation.

iphone comparison iPhone 5 is out, Which iPhone is worth its value?

    iphone5, iphone 4s and iphone4 comparison

After having a quick view of these features I must say iPhone 4S is the best deal until now. iPhone 4S comes up with an economical deal that you can easily deal with. Though availability issues also need consideration and rise & fall in market may inclined to change your decision but statistically iPhone 4S is best iPhone to purchase now.
