  • UK Is Crazy For Fitness, Transformers 3 Video Game Is Not A Bust

This week Zumba Fitness: Join the Party was released for Xbox 360 and Wii. It sold the most copies this week to claim the top spot in the UK sales chart.

Dirt 3 showed a much needed love and support as it jumped 2 places up from 4th place to 2nd place this week. While Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie was creating big explosions throughout the world, its video game was also nothing short of success and managed to sell enough copies to claim the 3rd spot behind Dirt 3.

In the 4th and 5th places, Lego: Pirates of the Caribbean and L.A Noire clanged to their spots. L.A Noire is showing some good legs even though it was released in May. It is still selling extremely well which is good news for its publisher Rockstar. Lego games mostly have good legs so Lego: Pirates of the Caribbean still selling well was no surpirse.

Call of Duty: Black Ops had the most impressive jump today and went 10 places up from 17th to 7th place. What was more surprising was the sales of Brink which was a critical failure. It received a lot of negative review but despite this all it is still in the top ten video games at 8th place.

The rest of the top 10 video games chart is shown below:-

    • Zumba Fitness: Join the Party
    • Dirt 3
    • Transformers: Dark of the Moon
    • Lego: Pirates of the Caribbean
    • L.A Noire
    • Virtua Tennis 4
    • Call of Duty: Black Ops
    • Brink

  • Mandatory Xbox 360 System Update Will Be Released Today

Major Nelson has tweeted this news yesterday which talked about a new live update for the Xbox 360. Microsoft released the last major update in May which was a huge step to combat piracy as it disabled the ability to play pirates games on flashed consoles.

There is nothing new added in this update. According to Major Nelson “This update is preparation for additional system enhancements coming to Xbox 360 later this year.” This could mean that it is in preparation for the upcoming fall 2011 dashboard update.

We don’t know if this update will repeat the same thing as done by previous update and reflash the console to strip away pirating capabilities. Since after the spring 2011 dashboard update hit live in May, Pirates were successfully able to counter it by releasing a new firmware which allowed a console to retain its ability to play pirated games. People could easily flash their consoles with this firmware and could even go on Live without any fear of ban as this firmware worked stealthy.

If this update is as a counter measure for this new firmware then Microsoft is finally acknowledging the importance of piracy. This update will be released today on July 19th so better get ready for it.

Update: It seems like this update has introduced new AP checks on certain games which includes Call of Duty: Black Ops as well. This means that pirates won’t be able to play the games which were given additional security in this update.

Update 2: It seems to have different results on different drive. The most recent DVD drives which are Lite-On cannot play all the old AP 2.5 games due to new checks. The list of games that are not working due to new AP checks are:

    • Black Ops
    • AC Brotherhood
    • Halo Reach
    • Need for Speed Hot Pursuit
    • Fable 3

  • Call Of Duty Android App Released On The Android Market! Download Now!

After releasing the iPhone version, Activision has finally pushed the Android version of Call Of Duty Elite to the Android Market. Requiring a free (or paid if you want the premier functions), the app helps you track your Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops multiplayer progress wherever you go.

After using for a couple of hours I can sadly confirm that this app is a very shoddy iOS port. The back button doesn’t work, there are numerous force closes, bugs and glitches. I hope the devs fix these as soon as possible as the iOS version works much better.

  • Call Of Duty Elite iPhone App Now Available For Download

Call Of Duty is no doubt a world wide phenomenon, with Modern Warfare 3 becoming the fastest selling game of all time developers Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software plan to keep customers immersed in the game for as long as possible.

With Call Of Duty Elite, which is available for free of charge (although players can choose to pay a premium to receive extra content) players are able to track detailed statistics of their online persona similar to what EA are doing with Battlefield 3′s Battlelog. Publishers Activision have today officially launched the Call of Duty Elite iPhone app which was previously only available on the web (through a browser).

You may be thinking that carrying around Call of Duty where ever you go is kind of creepy but for the COD enthusiast this is a must have app. The Android version of this app is expected to arrive by next week. Grab the official Call Of Duty Elite iPhone app from the link below.
