  • Battlefield Play4Free Now Officially Released! Available Now Free

EA just released the full game to the public and so far it’s proven to be brilliant. Battlefield Play4Free is exclusive to Windows PCs and as it’s name states is available for free directly from EA’s website. The game plays and handles just like Battlefield 2, you could say that EA decided to relaunch the game for free. Another reason for not using the frostbite engine like the Bad Company games lead us to believe that EA wanted the game to run smoothly on old computers too. To play the game just log into your existing or create an EA account, download and install the game and play, it’s as simple as that. Check out the launch trailer after the break and don’t forget to try it out, you can download it from the source link.

  • Next Battlefield Game And Future Frostbite Titles Will Require A 64-bit OS

Battlefield developer DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine has received immense praise after its release in Battlefield 3 and now the studio is teasing its use in upcoming 2013 games. Today the engine’s Rendering Architect, Johan Andersson revealed through his Twitter that future Frostbite games in 2013 will require a 64-bit OS.

Although most PC users don’t use a 64-bit OS its highly efficient that they should since users can get much more performance out of their systems that way.

EA is trying its best to push the engine to as many of its franchises as possible including the recent Need for Speed: The Run and upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter games.

So what do you think of DICE’s decision? Will you be installing a 64-bit OS if you haven’t already to enjoy their new games? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Former Call Of Duty Devs Working On “Halo Beater” For EA

Activision claims that former Infinity Ward heads Vince Zampella and Jason West  new Sci Fi shooter IP intended to be a “Halo Beater” at their new studio Respawn Entertainment.

The Associated Press reported on the claim after Activision’s settlement with EA.

Activision has sought access to details about Respawn’s work for Electronic Arts on a new game that has not been revealed,

Activision claimed the pair had discussed creating a science-fiction shooter intended to challenge the “Halo” franchise, but instead of delivering that game gave it to Redwood City-based Electronic Arts.

Respawn has indeed been very silent about their new game after announcing a mysterious teaser image over a year ago (pictured below).

After announcing that they’ll be skipping E3 this year I don’t think we can expect their game to come out this year.

So what do you think of the game? Will the creators of the biggest franchise in gaming be able to do it again? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Mass Effect 3 Is Going To Space!

As the title suggests, Mass Effect 3 will be going to space! Not the same way you’re thinking though.

EA will be launching weather balloons carrying copies of Mass Effect 3. These weather balloons will be launched from New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Berlin, London and Paris. Each balloon will be equipped with a GPS device, allowing fans to check the progress of the balloon from the official Mass Effect website. As soon as the balloons land, people will be able to grab a copy of Mass Effect 3 a week before it’s release.
