  • New Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII Trailer Released

    Square Enix streamed an extended first look at Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII today. This was an extended version of the Jump Festa trailer which reveals that the game will be out for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 this fall.

    This Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII trailer shows the new combat system in this latest installment to the series and how players have more direct control over Lightning.. Lets hope this is the last we see of her.

    As we all probably know from previous reports, the game features a countdown of 13 days until the end of the world. Players must save humanity within this time. Although this sounds as an interesting concept and paves the way for many exciting gameplay features, we’re still a little skeptical, especially after XIII-2. Is a third (and hopefully, final) part necessary for Lightning?

  • Jump Reveals Lumina As New Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Character

    Japanese magazine Jump revealed a brand new character debuting in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII called Lumina.

    Lumina looks very similar to Serah from previous Final Fantasy XIII games, her role in the game is not revealed yet although it is said that she’ll both help and get in Lightning’s way.

    The magazine also showed off two costumes for Lightning (viewable in the scan above) that she can change into during the game. The Dark Muse gives Lightning a short Broadsword and a shield while The Lonely Soul is similar to a Samurai’s armor.

    The very first trailer for Square Enix’s Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII has been outed. The trailer shows off the game’s protagonist Lightning with a brand new look navigating through the game’s main city.

    The trailer shows off various gameplay mechanics including Lightning jumping off poles and hang off ledges. The battle system also seems to be tweaked a bit but we unfortunately don’t have many details on that at the moment.   • Nomura’s work on Lightning Returns is complete

    Square Enix’s Tetsuya Nomura’s work on the upcoming conclusion to the Final Fantasy XIII saga, Lightning Returns, is now complete.

    Nomura’s work on this game was quite minimal, just like with the previous two games. He is handling the designs of the main characters, such as Lightning, Snow and Hope who will all appear in the game.

    “For Lightning Returns I created new costumes for Lightning and Snow. My work on the project is already finished,” said Nomura. Perhaps now he can get back to work on Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

    However, Lightning’s new look is not being revealed as yet. Apparently, in this new title, Lightning will be “stronger than ever”. Her story will finally be coming to a close, so they want her to be determined and strong. Lets hope her new design can be a reflection of those traits.

    The release date for Lightning Returns has not been revealed as yet, but it can be expected to release in 2013.

  • Lightning Returns Is Using “Elements” From Final Fantasy Versus XIII

    FF Dream was able to get some information regarding Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII from SquareEnix’s Julien Mercero.

    Talking about Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Mercero stated that the game will borrow elements from Final Fantasy Versus XIII along with its predecessors Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy XIII-2. He also said that the development is progressing swiftly and that the game is currently going under focus testing so they know what people like and what they don’t. He also stated that Lightning Returns will be much different that its predecessors.

    About Final Fantasy Versus XIII he stated that the game is still in development. He talked about how ambitious the project was and when the game appears again fans of the series will be very much satisfied.
