  • Sony Launches A Browser Based Playstation Store

    Sony today released the long awaited SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) Web Store which is basically a web based Playstation Store. Currently the store is only available in PAL (European) regions but is expected to arrive in other regions soon, also some browser like Opera are not supported.

    The SEN web store greatly resembles the recently updated Playstation Store, and will allow you to purchase games and content directly via your browser. You can later download your purchased content onto your devices.

  • Update Galaxy Ace Plus S7500 to Android 2.3.6 XXLK1 firmware

    Galaxy Ace Plus is yet another addition to the low-end lineup of Android smartphones by Samsung. The company has just released a new firmware XXLK1 that updates the phone to Android 2.3.6. The guide below will let you update your phone within a few minutes.

    XXLK1 Firmware Details

    • PDA: S7500XXLK1
    • CSC: S7500DBTLH2
    • Version: 2.3.6
    • Date: 2012-11-08
    • Regions: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

    Step1- Download the XXLK1 firmware

    Step 2- Download ODIN and make sure your USB drivers are installed

    Step 3- Boot your phone into download mode. Do this by switching it off and then pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home buttons together, and then pressing the Power button. You’ll see a triangle and an Android logo. Press the power button to enter download mode

    Step 4- Open ODIN on your PC. Make sure USB drivers for the phone are installed. Upon successful connection one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number.

    Step 5- Select all files you downloaded in step 1.

    • Click the PDA button. Select the file which has CODE in its name
    • Click the Phone button and select the file which has MODEM in its name
    • Click on the CSC button and select the file which has CSC in its name
    • Click the PIT button and select the .pit file. Ignore this step if this file doesn’t exist

    Step 6- In ODIN select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options. Select repartition only if your selected the PIT file

    Step 7- Click the start button. Installation process will take a few minutes. After that your phone will reboot with XXLK1 Android 2.3.6 official firmware.

  • Jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 3 on iPhone and iPod using Redsn0w

    The latest version of iOS currently available is 6.0.1 but Apple is already planning the next update. They have started seeding beta versions of iOS 6.1 to registered developers. We covered the Beta 1 jailbreak a few weeks ago. Now we will guide you how to jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 3.

    This jailbreak is only for devices running A4 chipset or lower. Which means any iDevice including and after the iPad 2 are out. Furthermore this jailbreak is tethered which means every time you reboot your device you’ll need to connect it to your PC or Mac.     Step 1- Download iOS 6.0 from the links below:

    Step 2- Download iOS 6.1 Beta 3 (only possible if you’re a registered developer)

    Step 3- Download Redsn0w for Mac or Windows

    Step 4- Open Redsn0w and click on Extras –> Select IPSW. Select the firmware you downloaded in step 1. After it has been identified by Redsn0w click the back button to go back to the main screen

    Step 5- Click jailbreak and select Cydia. Follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode. After the jailbreak is done click “Autoboot this device when it connects in DFU mode” which will put your device in tethered mode

  • Root Android 4.1.1 XXALK1 firmware on Galaxy Camera GC100

    We just covered the Android 4.1.1 XXALK1 firmware update for the innovative Galaxy Camera. Now let’s focus, as we normally do, on how you can go about rooting this camera. This might be the world’s first camera that can be ‘rooted’.

    Step 1- Download the root package and extract it in a folder

    Step 2- Download ODIN (if you have not downloaded it already) and make sure your USB drivers are installed

    Step 3- Boot your camera into download mode. Do this by switching it off and then pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home buttons together, and then pressing the Power button. You’ll see a triangle and an Android logo. Press the power button to enter download mode

    Step 4- Open ODIN on your PC. Make sure USB drivers for the camera are installed. Upon successful connection one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow with the COM port number.

    Step 5- Select the file you downloaded in step 1. You will find these once you extract the package. Click on ‘PDA’ and select the file cwm6-root-note2.tar

    Step 6-  In ODIN, check the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.

    Step 7- Click Start button in ODIN. Installation process will start which takes a few minutes to complete. After this your camera will restart and your XXALK1 firmware will be rooted.

    To verify whether your camera is successfully rooted, download the Root Checker app from the Play Store.

    Sony has been very kind to it’s fans over the past few months with it’s PlayStation Plus scheme. And this months listing for PlayStation Plus is simply further proof of that.

    According to the PlayStation Blog,  from November 6th, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be getting Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition for free! The Gold Edition contains two bonus chapters featuring Jill Valentine. Extra costumes and other content is also included.

    But the fun doesn’t just end there. They will also be getting a 30% discount on Portal 2 and Portal 2 In Motion, the prices for which are $13.99 and $6.99 respectively. Lastly, subscribers will also be getting “When Vikings Attack” for $6.99 (30% off) and Absolute Supercars for $7.99 (20% off).

  • Nintendo Announces The Wii Mini, Hits Stores December For $99

    Nintendo just announced the second re-design of its popular Wii console in the form of the Wii Mini. The Wii Mini features a brand new design and look and will retail for just $99. The launch is confirmed for Canada starting December 7th for now, availability in other regions is expected to be announced soon.

    The Wii Mini’s new design features a textured black top with red accents on the side. Fittingly included with be a red Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk controller. The Wii Mini is smaller than the current Wii and has to be laid down unlike the original Wii.

    Unfortunately to cut costs the Wii Mini will not include the in-built WiFi connectivity although its not confirmed if the console will be able to go online via Nintendo’s Ethernet to USB dongle.     We just covered the steps to update Galaxy S II i9100 to Android 4.0.4 XWLQ3 firmware. Since that firmware was an official release, it was unrooted. You can now follow the steps below to root that firmware on your phone.

    Make sure your phone is fully charged and your data is backed up.

    Step 1- Download the root package and extract it in a folder

    Step 2- Download ODIN (if you have not downloaded it already) and make sure your USB drivers are installed

    Step 3- Boot your phone into download mode. Do this by switching it off and then pressing and holding the Volume Down + Home buttons together, and then pressing the Power button. You’ll see a triangle and an Android logo. Press the power button to enter download mode
