After five years of waiting, Evanescence released their first single off the forthcoming self-titled album, ‘What You Want’. With a few band members leaving and new recruits, they haven’t lost their touch in making the typical Evanescence Alternative Metal music.
Although the critical response on the song has been largely positive, it hasn’t made much of an impact on the Charts with debuting on Billboard Hot 100 at No. 68. The peak position is No. 1 on the UK Rock Charts. I personally love the song, and I think it’s at least a Top 10 material but bad luck for Evanescence cause in these past five years, the listeners have moved to Dance/Trance songs, with artists like Lady Gaga and some new groups like LMFAO, etc.
The music video has been in the works since July 30, 2011, being directed by Meiert Avis. There hasn’t been any conformation on the release of the Music Video yet. The music video will feature some of their old footage from Live Concerts and some backstage clips.
The cover art for the song was revealed along with its release on August 9, 2011.
The song was performed first time on MTV.
