Samsung just keeps upgrading the Galaxy S II again and again, after making the Galaxy S II LTE (below to the left) official at IFA a couple of weeks ago they’ve one upped it again. The Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE (below to the right) announced today is one beast of a phone but it’s Korea only for now heading over to all three Korean carriers: SK Telecom, KT and LG U+.

The Galaxy S II HD LTE has a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 resulting in a ppi of 315.56. • Samsung Galaxy S II Coming To Telus As The Samsung Hercules

Remember the Hercules? Yeah the T-Mobile phone with the 4.5-inch screen set to release sometime after the Galaxy S II’s release, well it looks like Telus a Canadian carrier is planning to launch the phone very soon.

This sounds legit since Telus is known for releasing T-Mobile specific phone in the past like for example the Galaxy S 4G. The picture was taken by MobileSyrup in a VIP event by Samsung yesterday in Toronto.

As far as specs are concerned it was reported to have a 4.5-inch display and the same internals of the Samsung Galaxy S II including a dual core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP back camera with 1080p recording and a good quality front camera which seems to be a 2MP sensor. It’s also suppose to be Canada’s first dual carrier 42Mbps smartphone. The phone looks like a cross between a Nexus S and a Galaxy S II, which looks great indeed.

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Banned In Europe, Apple Wins This Round

A European Court has banned all sales and advertisement of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 Android powered tablet in most of the European Union countries.

The order was issued by a court in Dusseldorf after Apple filled in a complaint about the Galaxy Tab infringing many of Apple’s patents. Apple wins this round in a long battle with Samsung which started a couple of months ago. Apple is also in fisticuffs with Motorola, HTC and many other manufacturers. You have to admit, Apple has some pretty dandy lawyers.

  • Samsung Galaxy S II Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread ROM Leaked, Requires Root To Install

Like almost every Samsung Galaxy S II owner who is running the stock ROM on their phone (like me) you’re probably waiting for Android 2.3.4 but it looks like we might get something even better. PocketNow reports that an Android 2.3.5 ROM for the Galaxy S II dated back to 15th September has been leaked and is now available for download.

The announcement was made by SamFirmware a site popular for leaking Samsung ROMs and some of the guys behind DarkyROM on of the more popular Android ROMs. Do note guys this ROM is only for the international variant of the Galaxy S II and not of the recently announced US variants. So if you want to install it head over to the source link for instructions but make sure your phone is rooted before beginning, links to the Android 2.3.5 I9100XXKI3 firmware is below:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Ported To The Nexus One, Full Release Coming Soon

This seems to be Google’s week, first they announced their new flagship phone the Galaxy Nexus along with partners Samsung. They also announced a release date for Ice Cream Sandwich and released the SDK. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich seems to be confirmed for the Nexus S but it looks like the OG Nexus One is gonna get some of that yummy goodness as well.

A user by the name of drl337md posted a video on YouTube showing off ICS running on the Nexus One and that too quite smoothly for an initial port I might add.

The almost two year old Nexus One is proving to be quite a fighter, suprisingly able to run Android 4.0 packing just a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and 512MB of RAM while the first ICS phone the Galaxy Nexus packs a blazing fast 1.2GHz dual core processor and 1GB of RAM.

  • AT&T, Sprint And T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II Variants Pictured Together

Although they don’t look good as the original Galaxy S II the American variants aren’t bad looking at all. Packaging similar specs to the original plus a few upgrade Samsung is set to reveal all the three variants in next week’s IFA event.

We’ve known quite a bit about both the Sprint Epic Touch 4G and T-Mobile Hercules but this is the first time we’ve seen the AT&T Galaxy S II variant which looks like a bigger Captivate.

So guys tell us, which carrier variant looks the best?

  • Droid Bionic Gets Pictures In New Press Shots, It’s Quite Thin

The infamous Motorola Droid Bionic shows off it’s thickness in these new press shots, catch them after the break. The phone is a wee bit thicker than the Droid X2 even though it’s packing LTE inside that slim chassis.

Droid Bionic on the left, Droid X2 on the right. Do note guys these are Press Shots which mean these pictures might be edited to make the phone look slimmer, we could be wrong though.

The Droid Bionic features a 4.3-inch qHD display, 1GHz TI OMAP4 dual core processor, 8MP back and VGA front camera and runs Android 2.3.4 with Motorola’s OEM skin on top. The Motorola Droid Bionic is set to release exclusive to Verizon sometime in September.

  • Apple Proposes Plan for an Even Smaller SIM Card Standard

Last year, with the advent of the iPad and the iPhone 4, Apple introduced a new SIM-Card standard – the Micro-SIM. Reuters reports that this time around Apple has submitted a new requirement to (European telecoms standards body) ETSI for a smaller SIM form factor, even smaller than the current micro-SIM used in the iPad 1, iPad 2 and iPhone 4.

“They have done that through the standardization route, through ETSI, with the sponsorship of some major mobile operators, Orange being one of them,” said Anne Bouverot, Orange’s head of mobile services. She further went on to say that the process would take time but the devices supporting this new format could be out as early as next year.
