  • “No PlayStation 4 in Near future,” Jack Tretton

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has quelled any rising hopes for the successor to PS3. Chatting with Forbes, Jack made it clear that Sony has just begun fully ‘cashing in’ on PS3 market, and that the new console was a bit far off in the future.

“PlayStation 3 is really just hitting its stride,” Tretton said. “And technologically, I don’t think it’s possible to provide any advancement beyond what we have.”

“What we’ve seen from the competition is trying to add features that already exist in PlayStation 3,” he said.

“We invested heavily in that, we rolled a very heavy rock up a steep hill, through the launch period. But now I think that all pays off, and we’ve got a long run way behind it. So, I wouldn’t look for any discussion of a next generation PlayStation for quite some time.”

Skimming over the subject of Nintendo’s Wii’s successor Wii U, Tretton expressed that the new console does not have anything dramatically different to offer to push the company to rush for a new hardware release.

“I think there’s ground to be carved out for everybody. But I didn’t see anything about Nintendo’s announcement that said ‘Oh, we’d better get working on rolling out a new PlayStation here pretty soon.’

“Our attitude is kind of ‘welcome to the party.’ If you’re looking at being a multimedia entertainment device, if you’re looking at high def gaming, that was 2006 for us,” he concluded.

  • PS4 to hit the shelves in 2012?

Despite Sony’s complete dismissal of the entire PS4 debate, rumours have been quite rife around the internet regarding the next PlayStation outing. And with Nintendo launching their next console, and MS to reveal details about their next system come E3 next year, this whole PS4 scenario is debatable.

So to fan the rumour flames, DigiTimes has released a fresh report, stating that PS4 will be out sometime in 2012 packed with Kinect or Eye-toy like motion control functionality. And the teams leading the hardware manufacturing are Foxconn and Pegatron Technology.

Sony, despite being mum on the latest rumour, has dismissed them in the past that they are baking PS3 and the latest PS Vita for some time to come. If true, then the launch time could be around 2013/14 as suggested by gaming enthusiasts.

The 7H comes in matte-black with very aggressive look while maintaining elegance and is a lot less likely to pick up marks and scratches. The body is sturdy made and has a very smooth feel to it, the metal trim around the ear cups and on the ends of the band really brings uniqueness to it, ear cups are labeled clearly with R, L for individual ears they also rotatable at 45º.

    6 SteelSeries 7H Review
Pre mounted ear-cushions is made out of leather covered foam which is extremely soft because its designed to have superior noise-isolating and spacing for the ears are oval shaped rather than circular this ensures a comfortable fit for extensive usage. The other one is covered with fiber which can be used during LAN parties as it lacks isolating thus allowing you to communicate between your team members

The left ear-cup has a cavity for retractable microphone it can be held into shape to your liking… a must have when you are gaming.

SteelSeries logo is engraved across its Headband that is shiny in appearance and feel. And under it is a thick strip of leather covered foam which adds support and comfort
    9 SteelSeries 7H Review

7h is designed so it can be dismantled into 4 parts which is a very slick feature incorporated in it which is useful in its safe transport

    10 SteelSeries 7H Review111 SteelSeries 7H Review
The detachable cord that 7h uses is braided for better durability and has mini-USB to plug into the left sided earphone, half-way along the cable there is a small control which is used for volume control and to mute the microphone by sliding down the large button the other end of cord has two standard 3.5mm gold-plated connectors a 2m long extension cord is also provided which is quite useful if your CPU is far way.

    Performance
The 7h provide substantial comfort while being stylish and lightweight. The microphone preformed remarkably well as its noise cancellation is outstanding. Though, it’s primarily a gaming grade product, we will check its performance in music and movie as well.

    Gaming
    Call of Duty Series
We tested tremendously popular titles with 7H Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty Black Ops and I must say all three preformed about the same, the footsteps were crystal clear, you could even hear the footsteps of crouched enemies nearby and background noises were prominent which contributed in locating enemy positions.

    Battlefield: Bad Company 2
As being a fast FPS game it’s vital that you know about what’s happening around for this 7h correctly identifying gun fire, explosions, footsteps and vehicle noise feel very atmospheric and did a cracking job at pinpointing sound from other players.
As 7H high, low and mid tones are conspicuous. Picking out each individual sound can sometimes be a difficult task with other solutions but I found the 7H to be a worthy contender. On the audio side of things in-game the 7H is a superb audio solution.

    Music and Movies
The music and movie experience is superb if the audio is of good quality. A low grade music/movie will remain garbage regardless of your sound setup. The bass is not that deep but it is very good for games if not for late-night movie sessions. The clarity is excellent and overall, it’s a winner.

    Conclusion
SteelSeries always deliver their product based on functionality and quality. 7h is no exception to this. Its performance is outstanding in gaming. The atmospheric, rich, and definite sound quality is truly remarkable. On the outside, the look and feel is very elegant. A very professional headset.

    Pros
    Great craftsmanship
    Good quality material
    Very Comfortable fit
    Interchangeable ear-cushions
    Retractable microphone
Breaks into parts good thing when you are traveling

    Cons
    Volume could be louder
    Bass could be deeper

  • Sixty-Year Old Technology Could Change the Face of Gaming

Back in the 1950s, researchers started playing around with a technology that would allow them to store data in a form of memory that had no moving parts. While the new tech was destined to be faster and more reliable than the giant discs used in today’s popular hard drives, it was also more expensive.

Now, 60 years later, the price and performance of solid-state drives are beginning to show signs of hitting mainstream popularity.

A high-end computer using the spinning disc of a hard drive to store a game’s content is slowed down by its inability to get that information quickly. This slow down means that games take longer to load, levels in games need to be smaller to reduce lag, and transitions through areas can start to visually chug.

Imagine, a wide-open game like Grand Theft Auto on an SSD. The worlds could be bigger, the way they look more detailed.

“New kinds of games are going to be possible because of this. When you are not limited by (a hard drive) imagine what a company like Rockstar could do with their open world stuff?

  • Suspected Lulzsec member arrested

FBI and Scotland Yard, in a joint operation have apprehended a 19 year old suspected member of Lulzsec, who are notoriously responsible for hacking a number of game industry websites such as Minecraft, Eve online, The Escapist, and Bethesda.

The suspected key member of the group was caught in a residential area in Wickford, Essex, and is currently being held in London. The group has claimed responsibility for a large number of cyber attacks, and recently posted their latest endeavour on Twitter after a breach on Uk’s National Law Enforcement Soca, stating, “Tango down – soca.gov.uk – in the name of #AntiSec.” Adding: “DDoS is of course our least powerful and most abundant ammunition. Government hacking is taking place right now behind the scenes. #AntiSec.”
A spokesperson of Scotland Yard issued a statement today following the arrest:  “The arrest follows an investigation into network intrusions and distributed denial of service attacks against a number of international business and intelligence agencies by what is believed to be the same hacking group,” the spokesperson said.
“Searches at a residential address in Wickford, Essex, following the arrest last night have led to the examination of a significant amount of material. These forensic examinations remain ongoing.”
