  • HTC announces not so good consolidated Q3 2012 results

HTC today announced the consolidated results for the third quarter of 2012. The results aren’t anything like what HTC or its shareholders would have wanted. Just like previous ones HTC had a rough quarter and reported 48 percent drop in revenue and 79 pecent less profits from last year’s quarter.

The company reported that it earned a net profit of NT$3.9 billion ($133 million) from NT$70.2 billion ($2.4 billion) in revenue. When these stats are compared with the year-ago quarter, this result seems very bad. Last year HTC made NT$18.68 billion ($639 million) profit from NT$135.82 billion ($4.64 billion) revenue. Reporting consecutive bad quarters has not served HTC well lately as the total cash and cash dividends have dropped from $3.6 billion to $1.7 billion in just one year.

In its report HTC has given the following outlook for the next quarter in which, and has notified everyone in advance that things are not going to improve dramatically in the coming months.

The Company’s outlook for the fourth quarter of 2012 is as follows:

    • 4Q revenue is expected to be approximately NT$60 billion
    • Gross profit margin expected to be approximately 23%
    • Operating margin expected to be approximately 1%

HTC hopes that things will improve in the future as it is going to release new smartphones that include HTC ONE X+, J Butterfly (in Japan), and HTC 8X and 8S that are powered by Windows Phone 8. The company is also rumored to launch a 1080p display equipped phone in the US from Verizon.

  • HTC One S SE with 64GB memory and white color announced

HTC One S is one of the best Android smartphones available in the market today and HTC certainly knows that. To make it even better HTC has announced a new model of the phone that has a gorgeous white unibody design and 64GB internal storage. As HTCSource reports, this new model of One S is officially called HTC One S SE, in which SE stands for Special Edition.

Currently only official Taiwanese site of HTC has this new model listed, making it unclear whether this device is intended for Asian markets only or HTC has plans of making it available in other parts of the world too. While HTC One S SE has upgraded storage than previous HTC One S models, all other specifications are unchanged. It still has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel camera, and other features that are same as the older models.

HTC One S SE looks beautiful with its color combination of white, black, and red and it would be a shame if HTC decides to keep this great model of HTC One S limited to Asian or Taiwanese market only. We certainly hope that the device is made available in Europe and America in the coming weeks. Check out the gallery featuring images of HTC One S SE below.

  • HTC One X and One S getting Jelly Bean

HTC has been on a roll as of late. The Taiwanese giant has recently announced to make the latest iteration of Android available for its flagship devices which include the HTC One X and HTC One S, with the updates starting to roll out this month.

The update will also bring an upgrade to Sense 4+. Here is the list of features to expect from the update:

    • Self Portrait Mode. Uses the front-facing camera  for face detection and snap the best possible picture.
    • Variety of views to the Gallery app.
    • Aggregation of HTC Watch 2.0. All video-related content will be integrated into a single hub.

Apart from the vendor’s list of features, there’s Google’s own goodies in store. The update will introduce users with Google Now and of course, an enhanced user experience thanks to Project Butter. We all know how Sense has arguably evolved into the best looking UI out-of-the-box and Project Butter is sure to take the experience to a whole new level.

The roll-out of the update begins this month, but an exact date is yet to be announced.

  • HTC Vigor Set To Be The World’s First HD Screen SuperPhone?

Looks like HTC is ready to blow away the competition and release the world’s first SuperPhone sporting a HD screen. The HTC Vigor is set to release ‘soon’ and will be packing some serious hardware.

The HTC Vigor features a 4.3-inch HD display (probably Super LCD), an 8MP back camera which most probably records 1080p videos, a front camera and a 1.5 GHz dual core processor. The SuperPhone will be running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with HTC’s Sense 3.5 UI on top (an upgrade from 3.0). The phone will also implement Dr. Dre’s Beats technology offering superior audio playback.

If this phone is indeed real then we can expect an official announcement soon.

  • First HTC Vigor Photos Surface, Move Over Bionic

First real pictures of the recently rumored HTC Vigor have surfaced and quite honestly judging by the design and color accents it looks like a bigger Incredible (could it be there Incredible 3 or Incredible HD?).

The front is a typical HTC design with four capacitive buttons. The HTC Vigor is rumored to have a top of the line 1.5 GHz dual core processor, a 4.3-inch 720P HD display, Qualcomm Adreno GPU, 4G LTE capability, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM with pretty good cameras on the front and back. This is also the first phone to take advantage of the Beats technology by Dr. Dre, were still not sure if it’s gonna be hardware based or software but it’s there. The phone will be running Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread right out of the box.

The HTC Vigor is set to hit Verizon sometime in October just after the Motorola Droid Bionic.

  • Windows Phone Marketplace Hits 20,000 Applications Mark

Finally Windows Phone Marketplace has been able to hit the 20,000 apps mark but still it’s way behind Android Market and Appstore. Just two and half months ago Windows Phone Marketplace became the fastest store to hit the 10,000 mark and now another 10k apps have been added to it. Like all other app stores Windows Phone Marketplace has some low quality apps.

You can expect to have loads of quality apps once the Mango tools have been released. Other than that there will be a significant increase in the number of Applications in the windows market once Nokia releases Windows Phone handsets. Some months ago Nokia started recruiting app developers which is a clear sign that Nokia wants to have much applications in the Windows Phone marketplace. We expect it to have near about 50,000 apps by the end of this year. Is this rapid increase in the number of apps for Windows Phone enough to convince you to shift to Windows Phone let us know through your comments.

  • Images Of New HTC Phone WIth Ice Cream Sandwich And 4G LTE Leaked, Could This Be The Droid Incredible 3?

PhoneArena have apparently gotten their hands on images of a new HTC Handset sporting a 4G LTE radio and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC’s newest Sense 4.0 UI on top. The phone’s back certainly looks like the phone is from HTC’s popular Incredible line of phones.

That being said the specifications of the phone are as follows:

    • 1.2GHz dual-core CPU
    • 1GB RAM
    • 8MP camera on the back and VGA front-facing camera
    • WiFi, Bluetooth and the standard connections
    • Android 4.0.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
    • HTC’s Sense 4.0
    • LTE

The screen is suppose to be of a OLED variant instead of a Super LCD which HTC prefers to use, following a trend set with the HTC Ville maybe? Looks like an interesting mid range phone but unfortunately being an OEM phone you can’t truly enjoy Ice Cream Sandwich thanks to the proprietary skin.
