  • ZodTTD Makes PSX4Droid Free!

Today through his blog Android and Apple homebrew developer ZodTTD has made his PS1 emulator the PSX4Droid free and available with install instructions through his blog. He claims that after removing his app from the Android Market Google also froze his developer accounts meaning Google refused to pay him his money. We couldn’t confirm this claim yet but if you wanted to test out the app be our guest, just make sure you have a spare PS1 bios and some LEGALLY obtained roms laying. We here at TechDeville prefer using FPSE which is much faster and superior to PSX4Droid and still available on the Android Market.

  • Activision Prepping New Call Of Duty Game For Mobile Devices

Looks like Activision isn’t done with Call of Duty on normal gaming devices yet, they want to expand to mobile devices too. Talking at the DMW Games conference, Activision’s Senior Director of Global Digital and Mobile sales Jon Estanislao talked in detail about the Call of Duty franchise and their focus on mobile devices.

Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies 570x299 Activision Prepping New Call Of Duty Game For Mobile Devices

Recently Activison has been behind the curve from it’s competitors regarding their focus on mobile and Call of Duty. They currently only have the Call of Duty Zombies game available on iOS and Android which isn’t that impressive to begin with.

Going forward for us, how do we really take that Call of Duty experience, what is the essence of it? These kinds of grandiose, immerse experiences–how do we move that to mobile or tablet? From a development perspective, we’re investing a lot more in understanding how to marry that together with how customers expect to play on those devices,

We’re definitely looking to reach out to our core audience and engage them beyond their TV or PC and then give them new experiences around Call of Duty that are unique for that device.

Sure sounds impressive, ready to take your Call of Duty on the go guys?

  • iOS 6.1 Beta 1 IPSW now available for download

Just after seeding the iOS 6.0.1 update, Apple is now busy in preparing the iOS 6.1 update. Unlike the minor release that 6.0.1 was, 6.1 is  all set to be a big one just as all point releases have been historically. So far the only new addition to this update that we know of is the improvement in the Maps app and mapping as a whole.

Currently only the Beta 1 of iOS 6.1 is available. You need to be a registered developer in order to get your hands on it. Apple does not seed beta versions of iOS to public. There is no change log of iOS 6.1 available yet either because it’s not made available by Apple or developers are bound by some sort of non disclosure agreement.

  • iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak Won’t Be Released

Sad news for iOS 6 users who have been waiting for an iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak for their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch devices. Popular Jailbreak developer Stefan Esser or i0n1c as he’s know around in the community tweeted our earlier that people should get over waiting for the iOS 6 Untethered Jailbreak as it won’t be released.

Esser has been previously connected to various Jailbreak and he was mainly responsible for the iOS 4.3.3 Jailbreak. And not only will an iOS 6 Jailbreak won’t be released but the newer version of Apple’s operating system – iOS 6.0.1 won’t get any special treatment either.

    Also check out:

Are you still holding on for the Jailbreak or will you be downgrading to an older firmware that supports an Untethered Jailbreak? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Concept video shows what iOS 6 should have been

Apple announced their latest and greatest mobile OS last week, the 6th version of iOS. While it introduced us to many new features, it also left us wondering if Apple could have done a lot more to spice up the UI. A UI that many have come to love, but has remained largely unchanged from the very first version of iOS. It is after all a big release, unlike the point releases we see often. And with Android completely redesigning their interface and Windows Phone coming to the party, the parity between iOS and other operating systems have closed ever so much in the last few months. What does this hope for a better UI in iOS give rise to? A video like the following one showing some exciting concept features.

Some things shown in the video include a very N9′ish looking multi-tasking system. You get a card view of your running apps with big thumbnails to give a better idea of what those apps have. We’ve already seen this system long ago in Palm OS and then later copied into Android and Windows Phone. I can already picture the ‘Apple copy cats’ comments if they were ever to implement a multi tasking system such as this.

Other features shown include Dynamic Badges and Flipicons. Dynamic Badges especially looks like the best feature shown in the entire video and something that can have true utility. Basically instead of having to open the app to view your notifications, you can click the badge and view them at a glance. This is something I’d personally find very useful.

For a rundown of all the features, view the video. Are there any features here you’d want Apple to implement before iOS 6 goes public?
