  • iPad Mini suffering with supply shortages

Apple announced the brand new iPad mini about a week ago. Though not quite jammed with features as we usually expect from Apple products, it is still quite an impressive product. The WiFi only model was scheduled for a November 2 launch and the LTE versions 2 weeks after that. Unfortunately as it has become customary, Apple has quickly run of supplies and people who ordered their respective models are waking up to find out their shipping dates being altered.

Initially the shipping date for LTE models was 23rd November for those who ordered it on day 1. This was already a week late than what Apple promised. Now users are finding out the release date being change to ‘mid November’ which is an indication that Apple is running into more delays with no concrete shipping date. Those ordering today might see their shipping date extending even further than November, possibly even in December which is not good.

These delays might cost Apple in the lucrative holiday season which usually racks in impressive sales figures. Poor supply or impressive demand? Let’s hope whatever the cause of the supply shortage is, it’s resolved soon and people start getting their iPad mini as soon as possible.

  • iPad mini to hit stores on November 2

News and rumours regarding iPad mini just cannot stop coming in. With the release date all set for one week from now, it looks as if the rumour mill will churn out whatever it has left before the official announcement. There’s a lot we know about this mini tablet. However the most important piece of information still eludes us. And that is the time and date when users will be able to get their hands on it.

Usually it’s the retailers that have this vital piece of information. And this time its no different. Geeky-Gadgets.com cites a source close to a major UK retailer, which claims that users will be able to pick up the iPad mini from Apple stores on November 2. The preorders will start a week earlier, possibly even the same day as the unveiling.

Launching products only a week after announcing has been a strong point of Apple products for a very long time. It allows them to offer the product as soon as officially unveiling it. This ensures the demand and excitement both stay afloat which in turn means great sales figures.

So who’s going to preorder the iPad mini? Or will you go the Surface route?

  • iPad mini pricing to start at $329

Apple is all set to announce it’s first attempt at a small tablet, the iPad mini on the 23rd. The event is quite an important one since the iPad mini will join the ranks of Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire for the battle of the best 7-inch tablet. Of course for any of that to happen, Apple needs to price the iPad mini within the same range as its Android counterparts. Some information on the iPad mini pricing has leaked and the news is better than expected.

ipad pricing1 iPad mini pricing to start at $329

The least expensive version of iPad mini will be priced at $329. Two additional WiFi only versions with more storage capacity will be priced at $429 and $529. Whether this is 8, 16 and 32GB or 16, 32 and 64GB, we will only know when the tablet is released. There will also be a cellular versions of these iPads which will be priced $130 over the WiFi only version. This comes out to likely minimum price points of $459, $559, and $659 for the WiFi + Cellular version.

These iPad mini pricing are of course all speculations for now. But at $329 it fits nicely into the rest of the iOS products Apple has. It’s a little more expensive than the $200 Nexus 7, but then again, Nexus 7 doesn’t have 250,000 tablet apps.

  • With the iPad mini, will Apple discontinue the iPad 2?

It’s now only few hours remaining before we get to see the coveted iPad mini. The event is scheduled for the 23rd of October. Nothing much about the iPad mini is a secret now. We know what it looks like, we have a fair idea about what it will be priced at. But the one aspect no one looked at was the implications of this product on Apple’s other products. More specifically the iPad 2.

Analysts are predicting that with the announcement of iPad mini, Apple will be looking to phase out the iPad 2. It has enjoyed a successful life and at $399 it still can put up a fight against the best Android tablets. But with the iPad mini priced at $329 and iPad 2 at $399, there is no clear distinction between tablet offerings from Apple. This is something they are looking to fix by phasing out the iPad 2. By doing this they will have two tablets aimed at different markets. One small tablet iPad mini at a lower price point, and a bigger higher end tablet iPad 3 for those looking for a richer experience.

Whether the demise of the iPad 2 will have any effects on the balance sheet, that we will know in the coming months.

  • Apple likely to unveil iPad mini on October 23

Another day, another iPad mini rumour. The device it being given the same treatment that iPhone 5 got before its announcement with all the details and even the exact pictures leaking before the official unveiling. We’ve seen quite a few rumours about this iPad mini that Apple will likely show the world sometime this month. And the rumour today just adds a bit of spice to the mill.

According to AllThingsDigital, Apple will be unveiling the iPad mini on October 23. The event is expected to be held at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium on its Cupertino, Calif., headquarters which has been home to the unveilings of the iPhone 4S, redesigned MacBook Air, and OS X Lion. This date is two days before the September quarter earnings report of Apple and three days before Microsoft releases the Surface tablet.

The first date might be a coincidence, but releasing it just days before Surface tablet might be a strategic move on Apple’s part. Where we know pretty much everything about Surface tablet, there’s nothing official about the iPad mini. So far its just vapourware. Let’s hope the rumours can be put to rest in two weeks and we get to see a great tablet.

  • Google Reportedly Prepping $99 Nexus 7 Tablet

Google revealed the highly acclaimed Nexus 7 tablet running the Mountain View’s latest operating system Android 4.1 Jelly Bean back in June. The tablet went on receive rave reviews and sell relatively good thanks to its low price and performance. Now according to latest rumors Google is planning on releasing a $99 version of the Nexus 7 tablet.

The Nexus 7 hit stores with a 7-inch HD IPS display, a Quad Core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and was the first device to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

The smaller form factor tablets like the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 have proved to be huge competition for Apple and its iPad tablet, the Cupertino based company is also expected to launch a 7.85-inch iPad Mini later this year but looks like Google is fully prepared for it.
