  • New iPhone 5 Benchmark Suggests Processor Is Clocked At 1.3GHz

The iPhone 5 was first benchmarked a few days before its street date and was found to be very fast, completely destroying completing Android devices but now it seems the processor is even faster than we thought.

The older iPhone 5 benchmark was done on an outdated version of Geekbench and now that the benchmark tool has been updated for iOS 6 the iPhone 5 was set through the paces once again. This time the phone’s processor was constantly reported to be clocked at 1.29GHz which is a 270MHz speed increase from its previously reported speed of 1.02GHz.

The latest iPhone 5 benchmark also improved the phone’s benchmark score to 1616 up from 1601. For comparison the iPhone 4S scored 630, Nexus 7 scored 1591, One X scored 1085, and Galaxy S III which is touted to be the iPhone 5′s main competitor scored 1560.

Engadget talked to John Poole of Primate Labs (developers of Geekbench) who laid the rumors of the iPhone 5 overclocking its processor for demanding tasks to rest:

I don’t believe the A6 has any form of processor boost. In our testing, we found the 1.3GHz was constant regardless of whether one core or both cores were busy.

  • ‘Adequate Volumes’ Of iPhone 5 Displays Being Produced By Sharp

According to the latest report by Reuters, Sharp is now producing “adequate volumes” of iPhone 5 displays to help Apple cope with the massive demand for the phone.

Sharp Corp is making “adequate volumes” of displays it is known to supply for Apple Inc’s new iPhone5, a company executive said, indicating that a possible bottleneck in supplies of screens may have eased.

Analysts had blamed a shortfall in supplies of display for leaving Apple with too few iPhones to meet burgeoning demand at its launch this month.

Yasuo Nakane who’s an analyst at Deutsche Securities that the main two iPhone 5 Displays producers LG and Japan Display are capable of producing 8 million units per month while Sharp will produce around 6 million.

Sharp’s increased production comes just in time for today’s launch of the iPhone 5 in 22 additional countries and more carriers in existing markets.

  • Foxconn denies reports of strike at iPhone 5 factory

With great precision comes great responsibility. And recently news have been spreading about Foxconn workers going on strike at iPhone 5 factory. The reason given for this was the undue pressure exerted on them to perfect the manufacturing process of the iPhone 5. Naturally they wilted and as a result there was a strike at iPhone 5 factory which has gotten wide coverage all over the internet in the past few days.

Foxconn has now made an official statement and in a surprisingly anti-climatic manner they’ve denied all reports of a strike at iPhone 5 factory. They do however admit there were small quarrels and misunderstandings that were handled there an then and corrective measures were taken. Other than that conditions at the Foxconn factory are normal and things are going as planned, or as normal as it has recently been in Foxconn factories.

The secrecy level at these factories makes it difficult to take Foxconn’s word without any doubts, especially when there have been so many reports to the contradictory. Foxconn has been under hot waters recently due to the poor working conditions for workers. Let’s hope this was an isolated incident and doesn’t repeat itself and Foxconn continues to make great products.

  • New iPhone (iPhone 5?) Backplate Photos Leaked

Big leaks coming in today, two different iPhone parts suppliers have leaked images of what they claim are of the next iPhone’s backplates to two different tech news sites. iFixyouri has provided 9to5Mac with images of a black backplate of the next iPhone (or iPhone 5 depending on what you’d like to call it). The images show off the phone’s new form factor, the rumored redesigned dock connector port and some empty space at the bottom which supposedly is where Apple will place the enhanced speakers.

Along with the aforementioned image, 9to5Mac has also received some higher resolution images showing off both the white and black iPhone 5 along with a black front plate where Apple has apparently relocated the Facetime camera to above the earpiece.

The second parts supplier uBreakiFix has leaked its set of images of a white iPhone 5 to Engadget. These images are similar to iFixyouri’s images except for the different styling on the bottom edges of the phones.

Check out all the images mentioned in the gallery below (click to enlarge).

  • iPhone 5 Prototypes Received By Carriers, Production To Start Shortly

According to a new report it seems that partner carriers with Apple have started receiving iPhone 5 prototype sets for testing. This is for last minute tests so that the models are in pristine working conditions before full productions starts.

The source of this report is Charles Arthur editor at The Guardian who claims that sources state the next iPhone’s boxes being received by carriers all around the world.

my carrier sources tell me that the boxes in which the new iPhone hardware is encased have been transported to carriers for testing. This is an important step in the release cycle for any phone.

It’s very high security, as you could guess; my understanding is that barely anyone inside the carriers gets to open those boxes

With just a month or two to go to it’s pretty much expected release date it couldn’t be anything other than the next iPhone in the black boxes from Apple.. could it?

  • Apple Re-releases iPhone Ads With New Just One More Thing That Makes An iPhone, An iPhone Ads

Remember those if you don’t have an iPhone ads? Of course you do who doesn’t? Well the tagline was kinda rude so Apple re-released them today.

The ads mainly focus on the distinguishing features of the iPhone, previous ads were about the App Store, FaceTime and AirPlay. At the end of the ad the narrator would say “If you don’t have an iPhone, well, you don’t have an iPhone!” followed by tears running down the eyes of people who don’t own iPhones.

The ad’s description is as follow:

If you don’t have an iPhone, you don’t have the App Store. So you don’t have the world’s largest selection of apps; that are this easy to find and this easy to download right to your phone. So it can be almost anything… like a boarding pass. Or do almost anything… like pay for your coffee.

The App Store – just one more thing that makes an iPhone, an iPhone.
