  • iOS 5 GM To Be Released To Assemblers In Last Week Of September?

According to Anaylist Ming-Chi Kuo Apple is planning to release iOS 5 GM to assemblers in the last week of September. He claims that the much awaited iPhone 5 went into mass production last August and everything is ready.

The GM release also known as the Gold Master release is the build which is most likely to make it in the final product so if it’s released to the iPhone 5 manufacturers by end of September we could have the iPhone 5 in our hands by middle of October.

It’s also claimed that the iPhone 5 will look just like the iPhone 4 and will be mostly of an internal upgrade similar to what the iPhone 3GS was to the iPhone 3G.

  • New iPhone 5 Image Surfaces, People Can’t Seem To Take Proper Images Anymore

Time to add another rumor to the rumor mill, iPhone-Release have gotten their hands on a VERY blurry image which they say is of the iPhone 5. The screen size is quite bigger, we guess around 4.3-inches. The screen looks to even have a different aspect ratio which makes us think that this image is a fake since all iOS devices have a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The phone in the image above also has an “edge to edge” display which has been rumored for quite some time. The sides are just like the iPhone 4. There’s also a front facing camera on the top. We can also part of the box which we guess seem to say iPhone 5.

So what do you think guys? Real or fake?

  • Apple Proposes Plan for an Even Smaller SIM Card Standard

Last year, with the advent of the iPad and the iPhone 4, Apple introduced a new SIM-Card standard – the Micro-SIM. Reuters reports that this time around Apple has submitted a new requirement to (European telecoms standards body) ETSI for a smaller SIM form factor, even smaller than the current micro-SIM used in the iPad 1, iPad 2 and iPhone 4.

“They have done that through the standardization route, through ETSI, with the sponsorship of some major mobile operators, Orange being one of them,” said Anne Bouverot, Orange’s head of mobile services. She further went on to say that the process would take time but the devices supporting this new format could be out as early as next year.

  • China Telecom Wants Apple To Make Them A CDMA iPhone

It seems at Asian carrier China Telecom is in direct talks with Apple regarding bringing the CDMA model of the iPhone to it’s whooping 216 million subscribers. Apple is currently serving only China Unicom and it’s 886 million customers just like it was previously doing with AT&T in the USA, If they can give Verizon the iPhone then why not China Telecom?

China Telecom’s chairman Wang Xiaochu told Reuters:

We’re not denying that we’re in touch with iPhone (Apple), but I cannot comment on the progress.

These “talks” could very well lead to something as Apple’s exclusivity agreement with China Unicom is set to expire later this year.

  • How To: Jailbreak iPhone 3GS And iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3 Using Redsn0w (Windows)

The following are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS or 4 on iOS4.3.3 with Redsn0w on Windows.

The complete guide after the break.

Before updating your phone to 4.3.3, you need to keep in mind that an unlock is not yet available for the baseband on 4.3.3. To unlock a phone on 4.3.3 you will either have to update using a custom firmware which doesn’t update your baseband or you will have to update to the 06.15 iPad baseband if on the 3GS. While 06.15 may render the phone unlockable, updating to it comes with its fair share of problems such as:

    1. There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there’s no hiding the baseband version from Apple. You’ll be voiding your warranty in a very obvious way.
    2. If some future baseband comes out with a critical fix, you won’t be able to update to it if it remains down in the 05.xx sequence (then again, you wouldn’t update to it if you wanted to keep your unlock anyway).
    3. Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won’t ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail). You’ll need to only restore to custom IPSWs (then again, if you’re an unlocker you should already be doing that).
    4. There are reports that 06.15 may disable your GPS. The iPhone Dev-Team is currently working on a fix.

    Tools You’ll Need:

iPhone 3GS 4.3.3 Official IPSW. Click Here.

iPhone 4 4.3.3 Official IPSW, Click Here.

    Redsn0w 0.9.6rc16. Click Here.

    Step One

Download the iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 official IPSW (Depending on your phone). Download and extract Redsn0w. For convenience, place all of them in a folder on the desktop, like so:

    Step Two

Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes. When the phone shows up in iTunes select it from the list of devices on the left.  Now hold down Shift and press the restore button. When your iPhone finishes rebooting (5 minutes or so) it will be jailbroken with Cydia on the SpringBoard. Your device will now be Jailbroken on 4.3.3.
