  • iPad Mini with Retina Display and Apple HDTV reported for 2013

2012 has been one heck of a year for Apple. Lots of new devices, lots of new software. Now the attention shifts on what to expect from Apple in the year 2013. Business Insider has gotten some juicy reports on two major products we can expect in 2013.

iPad Mini with Retina Display is the first one. As the name suggests, it’s the regular iPad Mini but with a much higher resolution screen. Update internals? Most likely since the A5 is old enough as it is. March 2013 is the expected release date for iPad Mini with Retina Display.

In November 2013 Apple will release the very highly anticipated HDTV. The sizes varying from 42-inch to 55-inch. Price ranging from $1500-2000.

In June 2013 Apple will preview iOS 7 and the next version of OS X. MacBook Air with Retina Display previewed too. This is WWDC 2013. Both software updates will have John Ive’s design language.

Other products include an iPhone 5S, new iPad and a spec bumped iPad Mini later next year. iPhone 5S is a minor spec bump, and the new iPad (iPad 5?) will be totally redesigned.

There’s nothing too shocking about this possible next years lineup. Like 2012, 2013 will be equally exciting and product filled for Apple fans.

  • 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro on track for 2012 launch

One of the main announcements at WWDC earlier this year was the new Retina MacBook Pro. With 2880 x 1800 resolution over a 15 inch screen, the Retina MacBook Pro set the bar up so high for laptop displays, that it’s yet to be surpassed. It all comes at a price though. With starting price at $2100 and sized at 15 inch, the Retina MacBook is not for everyone. What everyone does wish for is a 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro. Something equally as impressive, but more portable.

Reports are now coming in that Apple is manufacturing just that. Research firm NPD DisplaySearch says that Apple will unveil a 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro before the end of this year. The resolution on this laptop will be 2560 x 1600 which is exactly twice that of the current MacBook Pro. There has been high speculation about the possibility of a 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro right after the 15 inch version at WWDC. It’s not known at this point whether this will just be a display upgrade or will Apple pack in higher end hardware and streamline the chassis. What’s even more important is how Apple plans on pricing this laptop.

After a 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro, will Apple kill off the current Pro version or the Air?

  • 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro prices leaked

The existence of a 13 inch Retina MacBook is all but officially confirmed now. The 15 inch rMacBook has garnered positive reviews for its splendid design and an even more impressive display. It’s only natural for Apple to bring the same features in the smaller MacBook Pro. Though it’s obvious what the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro will be notable for, what’s not known is the price Apple will charge.

Fortunately for potential buyers, 9to5Mac has started getting information on the price. According to this information the base model of the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro will sell for $1699. The normal 13 inch MacBook sells for $1199 so this is a $500 premium for the Retina version. As a comparison the premium for the 15 inch Retina MacBook Pro is $400 over the normal version. However in this case you get all flash storage and a thinner profile. Whether the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro will get the same treatment is still to be known. And if Apple does make it thin, where does that leave the MacBook Air?

We will find out all about this next week when Apple officially takes the covers off this rather well kept secret. We will also get to see the iPad mini unveiling.

  • iFixit tears down the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro

New technology is always great to see and use. The shiny gadgets companies release every month are barely enough to fulfil the appetite of your average tech geek. While new gadgets are indeed great to see, sometimes it’s all the more exciting to see them stripped apart. To see what they look like from inside. iFixit happens to have an expertise in that regard. And today they’ve stripped down the newly announced 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro.

iFixit tore apart the 15 inch variant of the same machine a few months ago and found out that the laptop was nigh on impossible to fix if needed. In fact they broke the LCD just trying to open the thing. With the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro things are a little easier. Inside you get the same innovative battery layout and the same asymmetrical blade fans like in the 15 inch version. Fortunately now you can repair the trackpad if needed, which isn’t possible in the bigger version. The display is still impossible to take apart. Over all iFixit gave the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro 2 out of 10 in repairibility which basically means you’d be buying a new machine if this goes bust.

Head over to their website for a detailed look on the guts of the 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro.
