Rockstar intended for the game to be able to run on a wide range of computers. Kevin Hoare, Rockstar’s lead PC designer said:

“But it’s when you get towards the top end of that range that you can really push a game to its limits, and the game will look and run incredibly on the most advanced current machines around at the moment and well into the near future,

You’ll find that screen resolution is scalable, there’s triple and even sextuple monitor support which helps to run higher screen resolutions, there’s various anti-aliasing options, scalable water quality, scalable shadow quality, increased detail for characters and vehicles and a scalable texture filter that further increases visual quality.

We’re also supporting DX11 with Max Payne 3, with features including Hull/Tessellation/Domain Shaders (which adds curvature to the character/vehicle models), Gather4 (for optimized shadow sampling / FXAA), Geometry shader / Stream Output and DX11 texture samplers to name a few.

As you can tell, there’s a lot for PC fans with higher-spec hardware to sink their teeth in to.”

Hopefully Max Payne 3 gets a good port and doesn’t end up like GTA IV.

Will you be getting the PC version of the game, or have you already played it on the consoles? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Treyarch Confident Black Ops 2 Will Outdo Its Predecessor

Treyarch, the guys behind 2010′s highly popular shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops and now Black Ops 2 seem to be very confident about their latest game. The studio is going all out with Black Ops 2′s development said studio boss Mark Lamia has said in an interview with AusGamer.

As we were wrapping up Black Ops 1, the team was really firing on all cylinders. And while we really gave everything we had to that, and we were really happy with it, we kind of felt like, as a team, that was the first time that the entire studio had just focused on one game,

So we were really proud of what we’d created, but we felt like that was kind of like the base-level. We felt like we could push it so much more. So that’s why you’re seeing so many new things go into Black Ops 2.

The fiction itself, to take it to the near future, we can trace that back to while we were in submission with Black Ops 1. The game is basically done, it’s submitted to first-parties — which as it’s being manufactured; before it hits the shelves.

In the past, sometimes we’ve felt like we need a little bit of a break, but we were just super-excited about what we had created, so we started spinning on “hey, with this one, we can take it to the near future. But we want it to be a sequel to the characters; and we can do this generation spinning”. Just all of these different ideas started coming to the surface.

So, while — like I said — probably the worst kept secret in gaming is that Treyarch are making Call of Duty: Black Ops II, exactly what Call of Duty: Black Ops II is, is probably the best kept secret in gaming.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is expected to hit stores November 13th for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

VALVE ANNOUNCES COUNTER-STRIKE: GLOBAL OFFENSIVE (CS: GO)

Next Gen Console, PC, and Mac Release Targeted for Early 2012

August 13, 2011 – Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Portal, and Team Fortress) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO).
Targeted for release via Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and Steam (for PC and Mac) in early 2012, CS: GO will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched exactly 12 years ago (CS beta 1, August 1999).
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
“Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999,” said Doug Lombard, VP of Marketing at Valve. “For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac.”
CS: GO is being developed by Valve in cooperation with Seattle-based Hidden Path Entertainment. The title is targeted for release in early 2012 and will be playable at this year’s PAX Prime and London Games Festival.

  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution PC Version To Be Region Locked

Well there’s a first for everything, Xbox 360 owners must be pretty familiar to region locked games but this is very new for the PC platform. Square Enix has announced the Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be region locked. What does this mean? Read on after the break.

So basically if you buy the game from a EU region Steam account or another website which gives you a EU key but you live and want to use it in the US, you can’t since the key won’t work. Square Enix confirmed that this is the case for both the disc and digital version of the game.

The PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is region-locked.
Please be sure to purchase a copy from your own region, otherwise you might not be able to register the game.
If you should not be able to register your copy due to a region conflict, please return the game to your retailer. Square Enix cannot offer assistance in replacing incompatible registration codes.

This trailer below details the story of the first game so those who haven’t played it yet, avoid it at all costs.

These new screenshots show a lot of violence and the graphics definitely look a tad better then its predecessor. Sergent James Heller will have to face the Alex Mercer, who was the protagonist of the first game. He seems to be antagonist in this sequel. • DICE: Console Players ‘Aren’t Getting Less Battlefield 3′

Executive producer Patrick Liu on behave on DICE has ensured console gamers that they aren’t getting any less of Battlefield 3 compared to their PC counterparts. He gave some interesting answers to the questions asked, catch them after the break.

He was asked about what does he think about PC gamers getting bigger maps and 64 player mulitplayer compared to console gamers who were getting smaller maps and just 24 player multiplayer, he answered “They’re definitely not getting less of a game.” Well Mr. Liu if that’s not less then we don’t know what is.

    Rest of his answer:

It has the same amount of destruction and the same amount of visual fidelity. It’a also a misconception I’ve seen on the internet that the console version won’t have jets – that’s not true.

We’ve scaled the maps accordingly for console so it makes the pacing all right and the balancing is good,

If you play a big Conquest map then the map is balanced accordingly.

DICE head honcho Patrick Soderlund claimed that Battlefield 3 was capable of 256 player multiplayer like the PS3 exclusive FPS MAG. Patrick Liu had the following to say:

A lot of people ask us about 64 versus 128 or 256 players. Technically, we can go to 256, we’ve tried it, he revealed. We play tested with 128. You’ve got to make a game that’s fun to play and, arguably,
