Sony has released the latest firmware update for their Playstation 3. The firmware update numbered 3.61 is the latest update for the Playstation 3, which will allow users to change their password upon installing the firmware. Users will only be able to change password on their PS3. According to Eric Lempel, VP of Sony Network Entertainment on the Playstation blog:

If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.

Update: If you don’t get an email immediately, wait a couple of hours. It will take max 24 hours to receive the email. Playstation official update on twitter:

  • The PSP GO Gets A Price Drop!

Well the PSP GO has been available a few times for $150 in various sales like Amazon’s Black Friday but now Sony has officially slashes $50 off the price tag so you won’t be paying a cent more anywhere. The PSP GO previously got a $50 price cut last year in October which was well received as the stupendous $250 launch price was just whack. The PSP 3000 also got a $40 price cut last week which knocked it’s price down to a meager $130. The PSP GO’s direct competitor the DSi has been just $150 for some time now and we can only wait to see how this price cut would affect the device’s sales.

  • The PSP Gets Cheaper; Now Only $130

The Sony PSP 3000 is now available for just $130 down $40 from it’s previous price of $169.99 which is a pretty huge price drop and could prove to be a very smart marketing strategy. You will be able to take advantage of price drop starting this Sunday. Sony is also updating it’s greatest hits collection by adding Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Little Big Planet PSP to the exclusive group. These games are now gonna be available for just $20. Check out the new ad for the cheaper PSP after the break.
