  • Japanese PS3 Super Slim Ad Is Really… Weird

Sony’s new Japanese PS3 Super Slim ad was released today and boy is it something. Sony is certainly taking a unique approach to promote the recently announced PS3 Super Slim.

Check out the Japanese PS3 Super Slim ad below:

    ARRRRRGGGH indeed!

The PS3 Super Slim was announced back last week at Sony TGS keynote. The redesigned and now slimmer and lighter PS3 isn’t exactly cheaper than the previous Slim but does include increased storage for almost the same price.

The 250GB PS3 Super Slim will include a copy of Uncharted 3 GOTY edition and $30 “digital content” voucher for DUST 514 retailing for $270, the 250GB version without the game and voucher will retail for $250. The 500GB bundle will include a copy of Assassin’s Creed III and a 30 day PSN+ voucher and go on sale in the US on October 3rd.

What do you think of Sony’s PS3 Super Slim ad? Let us know in the comments below.

  • New PS3 Refresh Shows Up At The FCC In 16, 250 And 500 GB Flavors

Recently rumors of a supposedly refreshed PS3 model have been floating around and today’s leak could very well confirm them.

New PS3 models known as the CECH-4011C and CECH-4001B have shown up at the FCC which sport a new design and cover loading disc drive like the PS1 and later PS2 models.

The new PS3s according to Tecnoblog will be available in 16, 250 and 500GB SKUs on launch.

The matte finish of the PS3 Slim seems to be long gone and replaced by the original’s glossy paint job.

The size looks just about the same as the PS3 slim.

So what do you think will be the price for the new SKUs? Let us know in the comments below.

  • Ni No Kuni Dated for Japan

Ni No Kuni is proving to be every JRPG fans dream, and a nightmare. Made through a collaboration project between Japanese developers Level 5 that need no introduction, and Studio Ghibli. The game came out on DS last year, and was announced for PS3 and shown at TGS.

The release date not known until recently has come out, but only for one territory. Yes people, just like the fate of many a JRPG, Andriasnag reports Famitsu’s latest issue featuring Nov 11 2011 as the release date for Japan.

Even if gamers have completed, and probably traded in the DS version, PS3 version has plenty to offer, which includes an upgrade to HD graphics, and an entire new story about a little boy named Oliver in the magical “Another world”. The battle system is also refurbished, and is much closer to real time than turned based.

If however, you are reading this news for some Western date, then I am afraid Level 5 has yet to comment on it. Stay strong gamers, stay strong.

  • Playstation Vita Release Date Leaked

According to a flier released by Block Buster UK, PlayStation Vita release date was shown as October 28. Whether this news is authentic or not, it has yet to be confirmed.

This was reported by IGN, Block Buster UK released a new flier which listed the upcoming games and consoles. It contained a listing for PlayStation Vita as can be seen below. The listing showed a 28th October release date and a launch price of 229.99 euro for the Wi-Fi only model. The 3G model was listed as 279.99 euros.

This price is a little expensive as compared to the US. The official price for US was $250 for the Wi-Fi only model while if we convert this European price to US, we will get $330.

It is still unconfirmed whether this is for Europe only or it is a global launch date. Japan will be getting Playstation Vita on 12th December, 2011 as announced by Kaz Hirai during this year’s E3. Sony previously said that PS Vita will launch in Japan and US first before making its debut in Europe. This news makes it look like Europe will be likely getting this handled first but like we said, it is a rumor only so far so better wait for the official launch date.

Recently, Nintendo slashed the price of 3DS from $250 to $170. This was a surprise as 3DS has been barely out for a few months now. The PlayStation Vita, being the direct competitor to 3DS, needs to have a stronger launch in order to benefit Sony.

  • PlayStation 3 Latest Firmware Update To Add Some Cool New Features

Sony has released the details on the upcoming firmware update for the PlayStation 3. According to official PlayStation blog, this new update will add the ability to auto-synch trophies and have a auto-upload function for online save data. There is a catch though, it is limited to PlayStation Plus subscribers only. Read more to find out the full change log.

Sadly, as we know, the most promising new features are only available to people who have a PlayStation Plus subscription meaning regular users won’t be able to enjoy it. So what about the regular users? What do they get with this new firmware update. Well according to the press release, the regular users are also getting some new features.

For starters, there is nothing really important. There is a new category added on XMB which will include all the Video Applications at one place for ease of use. There is also a new recommend function which will allow you to share you recommendations with others for PlayStation Store items. Along with these minor updates, this new firmware update will also bring updated support for 3D and Blu-ray playback. Read the official press release below:-

Hi everyone! As we are continuously working toward providing the best gaming and entertainment experience on PlayStation 3, I wanted to give you all a heads up on the following new features and changes coming with the next system software update (v.3.70).

To make things easier for PlayStation Plus subscribers, we’ve added the option to automate two existing features. The [Automatic Download] feature will now be called [Automatic Update] as a result of these new options.

A new auto upload function for online save data back-up will be added to make it easier to back-up your game save data. Under (Game), select the game for which you want to automatically upload saved data, and then press the Triangle button.
Also, Trophies will now sync automatically at the timing of Auto Download.
A new recommendation function will be added that enables you to share your recommendations for PlayStation Store items, such as games and videos, with PlayStation Network friends. You will be able to send messages with a store link from the product pages within the PlayStation Store.
Due to the increase in video applications being offered on PS3, we are adding a new category on the XMB called TV/Video Services. This category will include video applications such as Netflix, Hulu PLUS, and VUDU.

You’ll be able to find and download all of the video applications available on PS3 directly from this new XMB category.
A folder labeled “My Channels” within this category will allow you to easily access your downloaded applications.
Any videos downloaded from the PlayStation store will continue to be placed in the existing Video category on the XMB

Two updates for all of you enjoying Blu-ray 3D movies on PS3:

3D support will now be available when accessing Java-based special features on Blu-Ray
DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR decoding/bit stream output (or lossless audio) will be supported while playing Blu-ray 3D movies.
3D digital photos in MPO format can now be viewed in 3D on the XMB and in the Photo Gallery app.

  • How To: Download And Install PS3 Games Patches, Updates, Demos ETC Using Your PC

Most of you probably don’t have super fast Internet connections and have trouble downloading from PSN, which often gives very slow download speeds as it fails to completely utilize your bandwidth. Use the following guide to download stuff from PSN onto your PC at blazing fast rates and then transferring them to your PC.

The thing you will be needing are as follows:

    • A PlayStation 3 (model doesn’t matter)
    • A PC running Windows.
    • A modem or router to make a network between the PC and PS3.
    • PS3 Proxy Server GUI (download links at the bottom)

    Lets get started.

    1. Download and install PS3 Proxy Server GUI on your PC, you need to have Microsoft’s .NET Framework 1.1 installed. Do note a newer version won’t be any help, you need 1.1 to make it work.
    2. After installing go to the Program Folder since the program doesn’t make a desktop icon, then go into the folder called “CF3B5″
    3. Click on the PS3 Proxy Server GUI application icon which will open the program.
    4. Find out the IP of your computer (local IP)
    5. Write down the IP into the IP Address section in the PS3 Proxy Server GUI program, leave the ports option as 8080.
    6. Click start.
    7. Now onto the PS3, create a new custom Internet connection.
    8. Select yes and type out the Proxy server when asked to, enter than same IP as you typed in the PS3 Proxy Server GUI. Again leaves the ports as 8080.
    9. Now after all of that is done navigate to the PlayStation store or start a game to download the patch you want.
    10. Stop it after the download has started.
    11. Now back to your PC, click the logs tab in PS3 Proxy Server GUI.
    12. Copy the first link and paste it into your download manager, I use IDM so I just had to click on add URL and then ok.
    13. When the file is downloaded click on the replace tab, then click on add.
    14. Paste the link of the file you downloaded in the left bar and paste the location of the file you download into the right bar.
    15. Now go back to the PS3 and download the file again, this time it should download much faster as it’s now downloading for the proxy server i.e your PC.
