  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus Heading To Various Carriers All Over The Globe

Google and Samsung announced that the first Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be available in both LTE and HSPA+ variants meaning it will fare well with both GSM and CDMA networks. So the question is which carriers will be stocking the phone?

The LTE and HSPA+ support means that the phone will fare well with AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon but there are changes there might be a Sprint model in the future. Well according to the various leaks it should be available on Verizon since this may be the reason US’ biggest carrier passed on the Galaxy S II. Google and Samsung confirmed that it would be heading NTT Docomo.

The Galaxy Nexus will also be heading to UK carrier Three and European carriers 02 and Vodafone.

  • How To: Exit All Apps on iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad

With iOS4 Apple introduced its revolutionary new take at multitasking. The multitasking on the iPhone 4 is a pleasure to use but the problem is that over time a lot of apps become clustered up in the background. The only way to close them was to select each single app and exit it from the multitasking menu. However, as it turns out there is a MUCH easier way to close all of the back ground apps with one single click.

The following is a guide on how to exit all apps on an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch or an iPad.

    Step One

Open up Cydia from the springboard

    Step Two

Navigate to the search tab and search for Remove Background.

    Step Three

Tap on the Remove Background package and install it.

    Step Four

Remove Backgound will now appear on your springboard.

    Step Five

Now, there are two possible ways to use Remove Background to exit all apps on the iPhone.

    Activator

    1. Launch the RemoveBG app and go to the activator menu.

    2.  Select the activation method from the many available to activate RemoveBG and exit all your background apps. For this example I’m going to use the volume keys.

    SBsettings

This method is more convenient and recommended by us.

    1. Add the Repo http://repo.hackyouriphone.org to Cydia.

    2. Install the package Remove Background SBsettings.

    3. Now you can simply swipe on the status bar, and all your toggles will accessible from anywhere on the phone. To exit all apps you simply have to press the RemoveBG button and all the open apps will be exited.

Kindly “+1″ and “like” the article if this helps you out. Thanks!

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich SDK Ported To Samsung Galaxy S

After Google released the SDK for their latest update to Android, Ice Cream Sandwich we expected many devices to enjoy the new update. After being ported to the Nexus S developers are now looking into porting Android 4.0 over to it’s cousin the Samsung Galaxy S.

The port is currently in it’s very early stages so don’t expect everything to work, you would face various crashes and force closes right now we would recommend waiting out till the port is stable enough.

Google is still to release the proper source code for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich so currently they have no choice to port the SDK which as you can guess is not an easy task but rest assured the Galaxy S port is being lead by galnet and lttldvl who are very talented developers behind the popular custom ROM called MIUI.

  • Japanese Horror tales, Meet a slow Death

The blood cools in your veins, the skin trembles with fear, and the hair stand on end the common phrases plucked straight out of horror novels. Long it took, for it to transcend the books leafs into the gaming world. And for all its worth, Japanese horror still reigns supreme.

The sheer depth of story to delve into human consciousness can only be achieved by writers of considerable mettle. This beginning of a fantastic genre took recognition with Silent Hill. The wispy fog streaking the streets, and the shrill sounds of your radio managed to build up a sort of tension in players, never before experienced in video games.

    Blue nightmares trickle your dreams.

Silent Hill introduced so many metaphors, and recurring themes that became the staple of series. The blood-stained gurneys, knocked over wheel chairs, covered corpses, and halls of the famous Silent Hill hospital engulfed in the stillness of death; it was an engaging game, one that you could not hope to forget soon.

Together with such a chilly, riveting atmosphere made to switch between light and darkness  the metamorphosis of Alyssa’s living nightmares  came the brilliant characters. Each with their own story, their own nightmares.

The series became truly a legend in the eyes of us Horror enthusiasts, who cannot wait to sink their teeth into horrors of psychological value, that cast aside all gore and gruesomeness of Western macabre. A genre that solely lays its focus on exploration of human consciousness.

Wield a flashlight, to keep a bit of your wavering sanity.

With the arrival of Silent Hill 2, the series took a bolder turn, and evolved to make SH2 the most memorable of all SH games. It explored more sensitivities, untouched and unheard of in most games, even today. The pain of forgetfulness and the pain of not being able to forget the past were the two leading themes, and again, the main character went back and forth through night, and light.

It is interesting, how this concept of other-world splashed out of subconscious was created in such detail in every Silent Hill. In each game your character learns to face up to the truths, which in reality, are so hard to face and so easy to forget. Silent Hill tells a story with which anyone can relate, as it is told through ordinary people, people like you and me.

As Silent Hill progressed on, another lovely addition was made to the dark plumes of Japanese Horror; Fatal Frame. Set in gothic, and eternally dark cramped spaces, Fatal Frame takes the exploration of characters to the next level, but does so superficially, and it does it marvelously.

Where SH explores the fears inside, FF delves into the fear and exhibits it freely, and hauntingly. Your surrounds are forever draped in mild light, and unlike the pitch blackness that ensnares you in SH, FF lets you experience it by lulling the intensity but never truly detaching from it.

Mary’s tragic demise, cleverly cloaked under Maria’s sensuousness.

Each game circles around tragedies brought about by human errors, mass killings, and the lingering malevolence that follows. Your characters are bound my human bonds, which are unbreakable and the fuel of your strength.

SH and FF draw up a contrast of relations here, each there in full ardor, but presented in a different zest, which is suitable for both the games in their own right. None is superior, or inferior, they just explore humans differently.

How right it was to just take all this, and bring more into the horror game, but as all good things come to a swift end, so did Japanese Horror, now probably working on its final breaths. Team SH disbanded and so did the talented people behind the FF series. The last was made by Grass Hopper and released for Wii. It sold fairly well, but just like the mishandling of SH it suffered from the tender handling of atmosphere…a thing so crucial for Japanese horror.

In today’s generation of gaming when art and general aesthetics matter little, SH and FF did just that, bring forth the sensibilities of emotions, desires, and human perseverance. It is a shame how quickly these games met their ends or got mishandled when most of the non-sense craving gamers did not let their gaze even linger for a bit their way.

Are gamers to blame for the death of rare art? Is gaming really headed down a path where only a select few genres will crowd the gaming library? It is a most concerning question.

  • How To: Send #NowPlayingTrack to your Twitter

Are you one of those audiophiles who simply can’t resist sharing your #NowPlayingTrack with your friends who are following you on twitter or do you simply like showing off your music collection while on the move and don’t have the time to type out “#NowPlaying Coldplay – Yellow”? A simple Cydia tweak will add a handy button to your on board twitter App to help making your #NowPlayingTrack known among your friends and followers by the single press of a button and like every other Cydia Tweak this guide will show you a VERY easy way to install the tweak and how to run it after installation

    1. Run Cydia off your jailbroken iDevice (iPhone or iPod Touch).
    2. From Cydia navigate to Search.
    3. In “Search” type the following without the quotation marks ( “ “ ) “com.w00tylab.twitplaying”.
    4. You will be shown a single result bearing the icon of a power drill, tap it and open it.

    5. Choose “Install” on the top right of the screen.
    6. Press “Continue” after the above step and you will be shown the following screen.
    7. Wait for the bar to vanish and you will be prompted to “Restart Springboard” simply tap it and you’re almost done.
    8. Your device will do a soft restart and take you back to your unlock screen, now once you unlock your device navigate to the native Apple Twitter app (I used this with the official Twitter App from the Appstore, I can’t say if this will work with substitutes) now press the new tweet button on the top right of your screen and look to the left of your character limit to see a musical note icon.
    9. As long as your music player is running in the background (you can verify if its running or not by double tapping the home button and swiping right till you reach the end of all current running apps) you will be able to share what song you are listening without the fear of mistyping the song name / band name or the artist name and also include the #NowPlayingTrack with the name of your song.

This tweak is especially useful to those who either are audiophiles or simply love sharing what music you are listening to, you can even add a mention to dedicate the song to someone and compose a tweet for them too.

I hope you found this guide to be helpful and I hope I can help you with any questions or problems you may run into

NOTE: I ran this tweak on an iPod Touch 4G and an iPhone 4 both running on iOS 4.3.3, whether the tweak works on iOS 5 is not in my knowledge so if it doesn’t work on iOS I won’t be able to help you.

  • Editorial: A Tale About Apple

This is about a Pakistani with an Apple product. A guy living in a third-world country.  This is a story about me, Ali Khan, the Founder of this fine establishment TechDeville.com, this is a tale about me and my iPod Classic 80GB and how Apple Authorized Resellers helped (or almost destroyed) me. It all starts two years ago when I get this sweet baby as a present from my beloved Uncle, I took care of it more than anything else. It was a magical two years, unlimited music, mood swing control, you name it, my iPod was there to help me out.

The tragedy began when just two months ago my iPod died on me and that too when the warranty had ended. Without any physical damage, it just wouldn’t turn on. So I did what any man in my position would do at an emergency situation and instantly Googled it. Tried all the reset/restore remedies but none worked. Now since I live in Karachi, we don’t have official Apple Stores, we have authorized resellers. So I started writing down the addresses of each one to go visit to see if it could be cured. This is a tale about my experience (or lack thereof) regarding the AUTHORIZED resellers.

    My First Visit: Bawany Technologies

Bawany Technologies are Apple’s first authorized resellers in Pakistan. That alone was enough to arouse my trust in them. Now I was very skeptical about this visit, as I didn’t know if they’d actually give me any good answers. But I still went, as helpless as I was to see my iPod display that fine Apple again. Well upon arrival to the extraordinarily immaculate store, I had a smile on my face and without hesitation asked the sales rep about my issue. His immediate response was:

“Sorry, we do not fix iPods. No one in Karachi can fix iPods, no other reseller can fix iPods.”

Well THAT was a giant blow to my innocent smile. I was left with no questions as the guy already answered any query that might develop in my dubious little head. So, sad and with my head down, I left the store. Checking the name “Bawany” off of my list.

    Website for the curious: http://www.bawanytech.com/

My advice about Bawany: Yeah, they can’t help you unless you’re under warranty or wanna buy something new. Service was below-par too. Nothing I’d go back to.

    My Second Visit: iTech

After getting the extremely negative let-down from Bawany Technologies, I went on to iTech which was second on my list. Now their website clearly states that they take old iPod and exchange them for new ones, well it doesn’t work for dead old iPods. Still I went in. Again, another extremely lavish store with MacBooks on display, enough to make any geek drool. I went on to talk to the sales rep, I won’t name any names. Now upon my sad confession over my iPod, the nice man told me they can fix any Apple Product, he said:

“We have CERTIFIED APPLE ENGINEERS. We have spare parts NO ONE IN KARACHI has. We have fixed EVERY KNOWN issue. You just have to sign this paper enabling us to fix the iPod, and you’re good to go.”

As soon as I heard those magical capitalized words above, my hands went on their own and signed the paper. Happy and content that I’d get my iPod fixed, I left the store in hopes of a brighter tomorrow. A week later, I went back to iTech to take my product, the guy told me it wasn’t fixed, it can’t be fixed by ANYONE and then he went on to say this to my face:

“However, you could sell this here FOR 500 RUPEES( 5 DOLLARS) and we’ll USE IT FOR SCRAP. It has NO VALUE left.”

Now listening to the above quoted line, I was enraged, angry, wanted to make scrap out of him, but being a good human being I quietly took my dead iPod (wrapped in paper) and walked out, while some lady bought a MacBook Pro and the guy was nothing but nice to her(shows how much money talks in this world).

iTech too has a website: www.itechpk.com

What I think about iTech: I don’t think I need to elaborate on it further or this article would be blasphemous!

The Depression Phase: Dead iPod Needs Burial

So since none of the above mentioned “AUTHORIZED RESELLERS” had a sound solution for me. I finally put my dead iPod in its box and decided to get a new one. While looking online for a better iPod Reseller one day, I stumbled upon Media Center. It was a gamble but my heart still wanted my dead iPod to be of use, so I called them up and explained my story. They told me to visit their service center the very next day. And so I went.

    THE Authorized Reseller: Media Center

So my third and last venture in my dead iPod story is Media Center. Another “AUTHORIZED RESELLER” I had huge doubts about. But I still took my dead iPod(Still wrapped in paper) to their outlet. Met with Mr. Zuhair Younus, their General Manager, he made me wait in the waiting area(which was amazingly lavish by the way) for twenty minutes. After which he came to me with my poor iPod and told me the magic words that lit up my heart:

“This iPod can be exchanged for another iPod Classic 80GB for 11,000 Rupees (105 Dollars) and will be with you within 2 weeks.”

BLISS!! SHEER BLISS!! Those words uttered were like music to my ears through a pair of Beats By Dre Studios! I quickly signed the letter and said my final goodbyes to the soldier lost in battle. I’ll receive my new iPod in a few days. Media Center did good and succeeded.

    Media Center’s Website: www.mediacenterpk.com

My thoughts about Media Center: BLISS!! SHEER BLISS!!

    Moral Of The (True) Story

Apple Resellers in Pakistan aren’t all they seem to be. We have merely four to five in the entire country which are actually authorized by Apple themselves. And out of them I found only Media Center to be the helpful and TRULY AUTHORIZED one. This customer is a happy camper. And I will without a heartbeat go back to Media Center for any or all Apple needs.

    Thank you for reading.

  • Download The Google Plus App For Android Here

Yes guys Google’s second run in the social networking race Google Plus (or Google+ as the logo suggests) has finally hit BETA. The network is currently invite only but if you have managed to get one then good for you. Currently there are two options to access Google+ on mobile devices, an HTML 5 version which can be accessed through a mobile browser and a native full blown app for Android with additional features.

The only downside to the app is that it’s not available worldwide so you would need to either fake your provider using MarketEnabler from the Android Market place or directly download the app from the download link at the end of this article and install it using a file manager. There’s also an introduction video to the app below.

Comedy movies have always had a place in our hearts, I mean everybody needs a laugh sometimes right? Do note guys that this list was based on the time of writing, better movies might come out in the coming months so keep that in mind.

    10. Your Highness

Your Highness starring Natalie Portman, James Franco, Danny McBride and Rasmus Hardiker takes place in fantasy land where two brothers Thadeous (McBride) and Fabious (Franco) have to depart on an epic journey to save Fabious’ to be wife from an evil Wizard.

    8. No Strings Attached

Coming up at number 8 is New Strings Attached starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher tell us the story of two friends who have agreed to share some “benefits”. The scenes are very well thought out and overall the movie is pretty darn funny.

The movie takes place mainly in Hawaii as Adam Sandler’s character convinces his assistant to pose as his to be divorced wife so he could cover up a lie he told his current girlfriend.

    3. Rio

Rio is easily THE best animated movie of 2011 so far, the creators who were also behind the likes of Ice Age have done a splendid job. Voice talents include the likes of Jesse Eisenberg and Anne Hathaway.

    2. The Hangover 2

The Wolfpack is back again guys and they’re better than ever. This time they’re causing havoc in Bangkok where they were “supposed” to attend Pete’s wedding.

    1. Horrible Bosses

What’s this? A movie beating The Hangover you say? Well this movie could only be the highly anticipated Horrible Bosses.
