  • SE Europe On Final Fantasy X HD: “The world will get answers soon”

Some interesting news today, Square Enix Europe told one of their fans on Twitter when asked about Final Fantasy X HD that “The world will get answers soon, we promise.”

The much anticipated HD Remaster of the PS2 classic Final Fantasy X was announced at Sony’s TGS conference back in 2011. Little to no information about the game has been released leading many to believe that the project was canned. Final Fantasy X HD is supposed to be released on both the PS3 and PS Vita.

For comparison, a Kingdom Hearts HD collection going by the title of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX was announced at last year’s TGS and is confirmed for release in 2013. So it would make sense for fans to be worried for a game that was announced earlier to stay in the dark for so long.

  • Assassin’s Creed 3 Review

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has been around for quite a long time. The first Assassin’s Creed game displayed the magnificence of the next generation consoles and was positively received at the time. Fans have followed Altair Ibn La-Ahad in the first game, and then Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the second, third and fourth game. Practically, Assassin’s Creed 3 is the fifth main game in the series, with Brotherhood and Revelations being the third and the fourth. But, since Brotherhood and Revelations continued with Ezio, they are somewhat considered as side parts of the second game. Assassin’s Creed 3 features a completely new assassin: Conner.

Conner is a nice addition to the series, but one cannot admire him as much as Ezio with his sweet Italian accent and wonderful way of saying “Futrovelli”. Nevertheless, Conner isn’t half-bad. His outfit could use a few tweaks, but that’s fine. So, is Conner enough to make this game shine like it’s predecessors? Read on to find out.

First of all, Assassin’s Creed 3 enjoys it’s fair share of bugs and glitches, but that’s nothing that can’t be fixed. A patch is expected to cure these ailments ASAP. These bugs made my experience horrendously problematic and I was highly disappointed with Ubisoft for not having fixed these beforehand. But with the plethora of content and a rich story, this game is hard to hate and ‘ragequit’. Just like the previous games, Assassin’s Creed 3 packs an amazing story, once again continuing with Desmond Miles and taking place during the American Revolution. Obviously, you’ll also be taking the role of Desmond and, since this is the final game and the fate of the world rests in Desmond’s hands, you will be exploring Desmond’s character even further and ultimately using his skills, hence finally getting to assess what he has learnt from his ancestors via the Animus.

223193 Assassins Creed III Assassins Creed 3 Review

Also like the previous games, what makes the story of this game so amazing is it’s ability to interweave it with real historical events such as the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Bunker Hill. You’ll also see famous American personalities that you thought would only exist in your school text books. All these elements contribute and work together to deliver a thrilling story and a wonderful experience that you won’t be forgetting any time soon. Obviously, I cannot tell you much about the story without spoiling too much, so I’d recommend that you try it out yourself, or read a short summary on the internet if you’re still curious. But let me tell you this, the ending of the game will have you pondering over it and possibly even obsess over the nature of humanity. The game seems slightly slow and boring at the start, but that’s only because some character development was needed before the story could be set on it’s way.  The ending isn’t that surprising, but it’s a good conclusion to one of the best video game franchises of this generation.

Something completely new for the Assassins Creed franchise are the naval battles featured in this game. When I originally saw these sea battles at E3, I wasn’t sure what to say. They looked great, but I didn’t assume that they’d be a lot of fun. I mean, we all like to battle with different vehicles… but ships?! I was wrong, of course. Sea battles are one of the best things about Assassins Creed 3. They feel absolutely tense and one can have a lot of fun with them. They’re quite realistic and the mechanics are, well not entirely smooth, but quite good. I personally felt like a real adventurer as I sailed through those raging waters and wreaked havoc on the other ships. Simply put, it’s ecstatic.

    AC3 review 533x300 Assassins Creed 3 Review

Another change in the game is the loss of the health bar. You now have regenerative health, but that’s neither good nor bad. Since there was never a problem with the health bar in the previous games as it would regenerate the last block automatically, and you could find medicine on any dead guard, survivability was not that hard, and it’s quite the same with Assassin’s Creed 3. You now also have trees in the game. Trees that you can climb on and jump to. This may seem easy, but it can get buggy at times and you may not land where you intended to. On the other hand, the streets and buildings of the cities such as New York are yours to roam about, jumping from roof to roof, killing the redcoats and what-not. Coming over to the battle system, it’s quite the same. You still have to block and counter as you always have. Conner’s tomahawk is quite good though. I’m guessing Ubisoft will have a replica made and sold with some future super-expensive collectors edition.

Of course, battles can be completely avoided if you play the game stealthily like a real Assassin, which isn’t really hard. Conner automatically crouches when moving through long blades of grass, and you still have the other regular ways of hiding from your enemies as in the previous games. Either way, you have your advantages and disadvantages.

assassins creed iii 4 player co op news 21 Assassins Creed 3 Review

The game looks gorgeous, from the fierce water effects to the calm snow on the trees, everything looks beautiful. Maybe not highly detailed in terms of textures, but still admirable nonetheless.

When taking a break from the main story or the game’s many side missions that reward you in numerous ways, you could always try to develop your homestead which is similar to the Villa that Ezio had in Assassins Creed II. Simply seeing the homestead grow gives you pleasure and satisfaction.

Lastly, the multiplayer. I’ve never quite enjoyed the Assassin’s Creed Multiplayer because the players hardly ever act as Assassins. Instead, they run around rooftops, exposing themselves to their enemies. And this is the same with Assassin’s Creed III. The gameplay is the same: you have to hide among crowds and then identify and assassinate your target. Hiding and waiting for another Assassin to approach you is quite tense as you begin to worry about whether or not he has identified you as his target. However, the multiplayer is only fun if the players are playing properly. Otherwise, it’s a random ‘kill-on-sight’ affair. As you continue playing, you level up and get to use new skills. Also, you can use your real money to enhance your character’s basic look and gain other perks.

assassins creed 3 art Assassins Creed 3 Review

Assassin’s Creed III might not have the best Assassin in the series, and it might be incredibly buggy and it might not be perfect, but it still offers you a lot of content, provides you with a rich story and a great conclusion and gives you a lot of satisfaction as you progress through it.

TechDeville gives Assassins Creed III 4/5 stars.

  • Enable Developer Options in Android 4.2 and later

Google recently updated the Android Jelly Bean software to version 4.2. This is currently only found in Nexus 4 and Nexus 10. Android 4.2 brings with itself some really cool new features like pinch to zoom on home screen and the photo sphere feature.

google nexus 4 4 Enable Developer Options in Android 4.2 and later

If you’re a developer, or a power user, you’ll notice one change in the settings menu. The developer options that usually appeared at the bottom are no longer there. Don’t freak out. Google has not removed this option, they have just made it a little more difficult to find. This is so that a casual user doesn’t tinker with sensitive settings and ends up doing something undesirable.

Follow these simple steps to enable this option.

Step 1- Open settings > about

Step 2- Tap on ‘Build number’ 7 times. After you have tapped it 3 times a dialogue box will pop up telling you you’re only 4 taps away from being a developer. Tap it 4 more times.

That’s it. Developer Options will now appear in your settings menu. Don’t go around tinkering with them if you’re not aware of what they do. However the finger pointer and CPU usage are particularly interesting even for a casual user.

  • iOS 6.1 Beta 1 IPSW now available for download

Just after seeding the iOS 6.0.1 update, Apple is now busy in preparing the iOS 6.1 update. Unlike the minor release that 6.0.1 was, 6.1 is  all set to be a big one just as all point releases have been historically. So far the only new addition to this update that we know of is the improvement in the Maps app and mapping as a whole.

Currently only the Beta 1 of iOS 6.1 is available. You need to be a registered developer in order to get your hands on it. Apple does not seed beta versions of iOS to public. There is no change log of iOS 6.1 available yet either because it’s not made available by Apple or developers are bound by some sort of non disclosure agreement.

Google just took the covers off of its latest and greatest Nexus 4. Manufactured by LG this phone packs in some serious firepower. With a Qualcomm S4 Pro chip and a beautiful 720p display, this is the most powerful Android phone available yet. And because it’s a Nexus, it means its begging to be poked and prodded with. But as it is with any Android, before you go on rooting or installing custom ROMs, you will need to unlock the bootloader. This guide will help you unlock Nexus 4 bootloader.

  • iPad 4 Jailbreak achieved but with a catch

Apple quietly announced the iPad 4 during the iPad mini event two weeks ago. The minor refresh to the iPad 3, iPad 4 has some serious firepower under the hood. Powered by the new A6X chip, it’s safe to assume it is the fastest tablet in the market right now. All the power aside, there is one big question mark on the iPad 4. Can it be Jailbroken? According to Grant Paul – a.k.a. chpwn, and the image below, iPad 4 jailbreak might well be around the corner.

ipad4jailbreak iPad 4 Jailbreak achieved but with a catch

That is cydia running on an iPad 4. So what’s the catch? Unfortunately just like the iPhone 5, iPad 4 jailbreak will need a developer account to work. This is commonly known as ‘failbreak’. And since you need a developer account, this method is out of bounds for a normal user. Such is the case with all iDevices that run the A5 or later platform. But all is not lost, technically the security measures on the A6 chip have been bypassed, they just happen to require a developer account.

With such quick progress being made with the iPad 4 jailbreak and even the iPhone 5 jailbreak, it’s only a matter of time before a public method is available. Eventually everything ends up getting hacked, it’s only a matter of time.

  • Unlock iPhone 3GS Or iPhone 4 On iOS 6.0.1 Using UltraSn0w Fixer

Apple recently released iOS 6.0.1 to the public with OTA and iTunes update, we already told you how to Jailbreak it but now we’ll help you unlock iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 running iOS 6.0.1 using the UltraSn0w fixer tool.

ultrasnow fixer iOS 6.0.1 Unlock iPhone 3GS Or iPhone 4 On iOS 6.0.1 Using UltraSn0w Fixer

So basically the iPhone Dev-Team has yet to add compatibility for iOS 6.0.1 in its popular unlocking tool – UltraSn0w but there’s a free tool in the Cydia app repository called UltraSn0w fixer which can complete the job given you have the supported baseband. Before starting navigate to Settings > General > About > Modem Firmware and take note of your baseband. Only the iPhones which have the basebands listed below can be unlocked using the UltraSn0w:

    • Baseband 01.59.00 (iPhone 4)
    • Baseband 04.26.08 (iPhone 3GS)
    • Baseband 05.11.07 (iPhone 3GS)
    • Baseband 05.13.01 (iPhone 3GS)
    • Baseband 05.12.01 (iPhone 3GS)
    • Baseband 06.15.00 (iPhone 3GS)

If you have an iPhone with one of the basebands above then proceed with the guide below:

Step 1. Jailbreak your iPhone using this guide here.

    Step 2. Open Cydia.

Step 3.  Tap on the manage tab at the bottom.

Step 4. Go to sources and add the following repository: http://repo.iparelhos.com

Step 5. Search for UltraSn0w and install it.

Step 6. Now search for UltraSn0w fixer tool and install that.

Step 7. After installing, reboot your iPhone.

And that’s it, if you have any questions feel free to ask us in the comments below.

  • Jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 1 tethered on iPhone and iPod using Redsn0w

We just covered the guide that will jailbreak your iPhone and iPod running iOS 6.0.1. Now we will turn our attention to iOS 6.1 . Apple has started seeding iOS 6.1 to developers and if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on it, the guide below will let you jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 1 on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

ios 6.1 beta 1 ipsw Jailbreak iOS 6.1 Beta 1 tethered on iPhone and iPod using Redsn0w

Unfortunately it is currently only for iDevices that run the A4 or lower chipset. That means iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, new iPod Touch and iPad are out ( any device with A5, A5X, A6 or A6X). Furthermore this jailbreak is tethered which means every time you reboot your device you’ll need to connect it to your PC or Mac.

Step 1- Download iOS 6.0 from the links below:

    Step 2- Download iOS 6.1

Step 3- Download Redsn0w for Mac or Windows

Step 4- Open Redsn0w and click on Extras –> Select IPSW. Select the firmware you downloaded in step 1. After it has been identified by Redsn0w click the back button to go back to the main screen

Step 5- Click jailbreak and select Cydia. Follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode. After the jailbreak is done click “Autoboot this device when it connects in DFU mode” which will put your device in tethered mode
