Looks like European PS3 owners might have to wait a bit longer to get their hands on the Mass Effect 3 demo which was suppose to live yesterday. The demo was previously intended for a simultaneous release on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 but unfortunately Sony fans have to keep waiting.

The Playstation 3 Mass Effect 3 demo will hopefully be available today i.e Wednesday 15th February some around 4:00pm to 8:00pm GMT. Mass Effect 3 is set to release next month on the 6th of March on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

  • Review: Spyware Doctor 2012 – How Powerful Is It?

    • Interface
    • Features
    • Detection Rate
    • Performance

Spyware Doctor has been synonymous with Anti-Spyware for as long as I can remember. It won a lot of awards and merits from big names like PC World and CNET. We finally got our hands on the latest 2012 version to find out if the program is really worth the money and PC resources.

    The Look

The program has really grown over the years, Spyware Doctor has really upped the ante on the looks. The new blue and green go really well, they even changed the icon from a doctor to a nice radioactive mark. The accessibility is also easier this time around, everything is right where it should be without the need of doing a lot of searching to accomplish the simpler functions. Kudos to PC Tools for the interface.

    IntelliGuard

IntelliGuard is Spyware Doctor’s IP. It’s a collection of security systems combined into one to protect users from almost every little threat type possible. Version 2012 comes with a well-updated and well-equipped IntelliGuard, it gives off that nice little feeling of being safe. The new Behavior Guard technology is powered by Threatfire and it keeps a close eye on how your PC reacts and responds to certain applications and new installations and even blocks any and all malicious attempts on your system.

    Secure Browsing At Its Finest

Like many other security programs, Spyware Doctor adds its own little app to the mix. Adds a little extension to your browser to protect you from bad websites that are sure to infect.

How Did It Perform? Our Test.

So I tested Spyware Doctor on two computers. The first one was a heavily infected PC with little to no protection, the second was a heavily protected PC with all the latest updates and its the one I use for all my software reviews. The results of the first PC were very predictable, but I thought it would be more interesting posting the results of the second PC (the protected one). So here goes:

    The Mode We Chose

For the scan, we selected the Full Scan mode, although Intelli-Scan is the better and faster option but we wanted the program to scan each and every bit of the hard disk.

    Total Time Spent

So the PC I performed this scan had a total HDD space of 700 GB, performing a full scan gave me the time of 3 hours in total which is really an impressive time for such a huge amount of space to scan.

    Scan Results

So, long story short, Spyware Doctor found 242 infections on my overly-protected computer. I admit the infections were all low-level (adware and trackware) but they still count as malicious forms. THIS is why Spyware Doctor is so powerful, the detection rate is just incredible.

    The Only Con We Found

It was all a walk in the park during our review, apart from one little problem. Spyware Doctor has still not taken care of the incredible amounts of resources it uses, a huge footprint on the RAM, the start-up time doubles and if you shut this program down it has its own progress bar to shut down. If they can somehow maneuver the program into being a little lighter, it would have zero flaws but I guess nothing is perfect. I still wont complain a lot about the resource usage, seeing how Spyware Doctor has such an awesome detection rate, it is worth the resources.

    The Final Verdict

We give Spyware Doctor 2012 a 4 out of 5. The only thing bad about this program is that people with slower PCs wont be using it. The incredible detection rate, the powerful protection, the super-intelligent Intelli-Guard, all of these features stand tall. This software has its own genre in the protection market and is still THE best anti-spyware program we’ve come across yet.

  • When Will GTA 5 Release?

Something that’s been asked for more than once is when will GTA 5 be released? What’s the release date for GTA 5? Grand Theft Auto is one of the most copied after and well-known franchises in gaming history, bar none. The fourth installment in the series made its mark by breaking record sales. GTA IV followed up with two groundbreaking DLCs, The Ballad Of Gay Tony and The Lost & Damned. Ever since its release, people have been waiting for the fifth and probably last installment in the series.

GTA V has been confirmed by Rockstar as being in the making and the city has been rumored to be featured somewhere around Vinewood, the place we all know and love from GTA San Andreas. The release date for GTA V is known to be mid of 2012, it’s still tentative but something to be hopeful for. My views about the game are still as high as a kite, I was blown away by GTA IV’s amazing gameplay and immense story and have nothing but hopes for the next installment. However, Rockstar does have some big moves to make this time. GTA IV was the first in the series for next-gen consoles, while the next one will already be a continuation so they need to do all they can to make it more awesome than the last.

  • Images Of New HTC Phone WIth Ice Cream Sandwich And 4G LTE Leaked, Could This Be The Droid Incredible 3?

PhoneArena have apparently gotten their hands on images of a new HTC Handset sporting a 4G LTE radio and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC’s newest Sense 4.0 UI on top. The phone’s back certainly looks like the phone is from HTC’s popular Incredible line of phones.

That being said the specifications of the phone are as follows:

    • 1.2GHz dual-core CPU
    • 1GB RAM
    • 8MP camera on the back and VGA front-facing camera
    • WiFi, Bluetooth and the standard connections
    • Android 4.0.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
    • HTC’s Sense 4.0
    • LTE

The screen is suppose to be of a OLED variant instead of a Super LCD which HTC prefers to use, following a trend set with the HTC Ville maybe? Looks like an interesting mid range phone but unfortunately being an OEM phone you can’t truly enjoy Ice Cream Sandwich thanks to the proprietary skin.

  • Google Drive, Possible Dropbox Competitor Coming Soon

Google is going to be coming out with their own cloud storage service termed Google Drive. While the launch date and details are still unknown, plans are pretty valid and Google is looking to take over the market currently held by Dropbox, Box.net and SkyDrive. Google is going to launch their service with a traditional free version, possibly with more space than said companies, and a heavier enterprise version.

The good thing about Google Drive will be the seamless integration with the rest of Google’s services. To be able to embed Gmail, Google Docs, Apps, and so much more in your own personal cloud space is going to be a load of a lot of people’s backs.

We might also see a connection with Google Plus, the features are infinite. Does this mean loyal users of Dropbox and other services will quickly shift to the internet giant’s side as soon as it launches or will they stay true to their services?

  • Eat Sleep Play Lays Off Eight Employees Including Co-Founder David Jaffe

Twisted Metal and Calling All Cars developers Eat Sleep Play have reportedly laid off eight employees which includes the studio’s Co-Founder David Jaffe. The Salt Lake City Tribune has reported that Jaffe will now be perusing a career developing casual games but the God Of War director later denied any rumors on his Twitter and labeled them as “highly exaggerated”.

The studio will now be developing products for Apple’s iOS line of devices which include the highly popular iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Co-Founder Scott Campbell had the following to say:

It’s a platform that is in our pockets almost 24/7. It’s kind of the size and types of games we’re playing, You can certainly reach a lot more people. That’s pretty exciting for us.

Jaffe is yet to inform the public of any future plans.
