How To: Install iOS 5 Beta 9 Without Developer Account on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch or iPad

Apple seeded iOS 5 BETA 9 to it’s Developer Channel a few hours ago. Follow the guide after the break to install iOS 5 BETA 9 onto your device without the need of a Developer account or having UDID registered

Step 1: Download iOS 5 beta 9 for your iDevice. From here.

Step 2: Download iTunes 10.5 Beta 9 from here. You’ll need the latest build of iTunes to restore to iOS5 Beta 9.

Step 3: Install iOS 5 beta 9 on your iDevice using iTunes. Do not set up your device in iTunes following the restore. Follow this tutorial to jailbreak you device on iOS 5 Beta 9.

Step 4: Now you need to delete a key and string from the filesystem in order to activate the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch on iOS 5 Beta 9 without Developer’s account. To access the file system use a software named iFunbox.

Step 5: Launch iFunbox and go to this path :filesystem/library/coreservices/systemversion.plist. Right click on the file and then open it in notepad. Once opened, locate and remove:<key>ReleaseType</key> <string>beta</string>. Save the file.

Step 6: Once you’ve done this reboot the phone and since it’s jailbroken, you’ll need to boot it tethered using redsn0w. And that’s it, you’ll regain access to the iPhone or other iDevice and your cellular service will also work if you are on an official carrier.

NOTE: If you’ve already updated and are facing problems like the recovery mode loop, visit this guide HERE to downgrade to a stable release.

Kindly “+1″ and “like” the article if this helps you out. Thanks!

How To: Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 9 on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch and iPad Using Redsnow

The following are instructions on How To Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta 9 on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch and iPad using Redsn0w 0.98b7.

The complete guide after the break.

NOTE: If you’ve already updated and are facing problems like the recovery mode loop, visit this guide HERE to downgrade to a stable release.

    Tools You’ll Need:

iOS5 Beta 9 Firmware File. Click Here.

    Redsn0w 0.98b7. Click Here.

iOS 5 Beta 6 Firmware File.

    Step One

Download the official IPSW (Depending on your device). Download and extract Redsn0w. For convenience, place all of them in a folder on the desktop.

    Step Two

Connect your iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes. When the phone shows up in iTunes select it from the list of devices on the left.  Now hold down Shift and press the restore button. You can also choose to update but restore is recommended; it’s always better to get a fresh start.

    Step Three

As soon as you press Shift+Restore, a window will pop up asking you to select the IPSW file to be used. Point it towards the Official 5.0 Beta 9 IPSW you placed in the Jailbreak folder on the desktop.

    Step Four

Once iTunes has successfully flashed your phone to the desired firmware, navigate to the Jailbreak folder on the desktop and launch Redsn0w.exe.

**Windows 7 users may need to run RedSn0w in Vista compatibility mode. You can do this by right clicking the executable and selecting Properties from the contextual menu

Once redsn0w opens, click the browse button.

    Step Five

A windows will pop up asking you to select the Official IPSW file for your desired firmware. Point it towards the Official 5.0 Beta 6 IPSW you placed in the Jailbreak folder on the desktop.

You will then be asked (if using a 3GS) if your device is a newer “fixed” model. If yours is, then press the Yes button, click the No button otherwise. If you aren’t sure then simply press the Yes button.

    Step Six

Once the firmware has been successfully identified click Next. Redsn0w will then prepare the jailbreak data.

After the data has been prepared you will be shown a menu where you can select different jailbreak options. You may select specific options depending on your needs, but for now we will only select “Install Cydia”. Select that option and then hit next to continue.

    Step Seven

Connect the iPhone to the PC and then proceed to switch it off. Once the phone is fully turned off click Next. Remember to hold the phone in your hand before you press next  as you will have to press various buttons on the phone to make it  enter DFU mode.

    Step Eight

After pressing next, instructions to enter DFU mode will appear. To enter DFU mode, hold the power button for 3 seconds, then without letting go of the power button press the home button and power button together for 10 seconds after which let go of the power button and continue to hold the home button until your PC detects the phone. It may take several tries to get into DFU mode.

Once the phone has entered DFU mode, the process will begin. The phone will reboot.

When it’s completed it will show you this message. The phone will then reboot and the rest of the process will continue on your device.

Once your iPhone is done being jailbroken, you should see Cydia on your SpringBoard. This means the jailbreak has been carried out successfully. Congratulations on jailbreaking your iPhone 4/iPhone 3GS tethered on the iOS 5 beta 8 firmware.

NOTE: How to boot tethered jailbroken iPhone 4/iPhone 3GS after reboot, launch RedSn0w and select “Just boot tethered right now”.

Kindly “+1″ and “like” the article if this helps you out. Thanks!

See Leon getting killed in this latest Operation Racoon City Trailer

In Resident Evil – Operation Racoon City, we have to apparently kill fan favourite Leon Kennedy(*sigh* who would like to kill such a hero). This latest trailer shows Leon getting chased and killed by Umbrella Security Squad’s Delta Squad. It is just like in Metal Gear Solid 3, Time Paradox, since Leon getting killed means no Resident Evil 4. Let’s just throw this discussion for later and sit back and enjoy this somewhat disappointing trailer.

  • AIMP 3: The New Wave Of Free Audio Players

AIMP 3: The New Wave Of Free Audio Players

AIMP has been around for almost five years now but it was hidden under Winamp’s massive shadow. But ever since Winamp lost its user-base by going completely haywire and becoming commercial, AIMP took the lead. The software is a free audio player which was developed in Russia, the original company still exists in Russia but now they’ve made their international mark by making a US version and many more. We are going to be reviewing this awesome little piece of software today and also rank it.

    REVIEW

    The Look

AIMP 3 is highly portable, it isn’t a RAM-hog like those other audio players of today and it has an impressive and elegant interface. The latest build, AIMP 3 BETA 2.0, has been massively overhauled. It is now smoother and more sleek. The player also embeds itself near the taskbar for optimum performance and easy accessibility while also adding a dash of style to the desktop.

    The Features

AIMP 3 entails all of the essential features any audio player should have. The dev-team keeps adding neat little plugins to make it more and more extensive. AIMP is fairly new when compared to the older audio players in the business so it’s still being developed when it comes to adding the new addons to it.

    The Flexibility

AIMP 3 is highly customizable. From changing the transparency of the interface to tweaking the little things, AIMP 3 delivers on the spot. It has a nice playlist editor and the format compatibility is nearly perfect.

    Final Verdict

All in all, AIMP 3 is an awesome little software which is totally free. It is and will be free for the users, they won’t go commercial. Staying true to their awesome roots.

  • Rovio Releases New Angry Birds Update For Windows Phone 7, 90 New Levels Should Keep You Busy

Rovio Releases New Angry Birds Update For Windows Phone 7, 90 New Levels Should Keep You Busy

Rovio has finally updated the Angry Birds game on Windows Phone 7, showing loves to those Microsoft fanboys. The game was published as an Xbox Live game on the Zune Marketplace last month and has been shown a lot of love.

The game was initially released with just 135 levels but this new update bumps it up to a total of 225 levels. The update also unlocks episode 10 and 11. Rovio also changed the game’s startup screen (it’s different to the one you see above) and it’s quite a bit smoother, seems like the developers greatly optimized the game for WP7. We can expect further updates after Rovio is done adding more levels to the iPhone version.

  • Top 10 Best Car Racing Games in 2011

Top 10 Best Car Racing Games in 2011

Even though 2011 hasn’t been perfect for us racing fans many promising games got released this year which we feel are worth a play. Check out the list below for 10 of them. The list includes games from various platforms including iOS. Do note that this list is based on the game released at the time of posting during 2011. Also note the list is based on the writer’s personal opinion, yours may differ.

    10. Skydrift — Xbox 360 And PS3

Skydrift is one of my personal favorites of this year. Skydrive is a highly entertaining aircraft racing game where you race across your opponents in various sceneries including harsh desert canyons and gentle tropical islands. Casual gamers will surely love the game. The game is will also be hitting Steam very soon.

    9. Death Rally — iOS And PC

Death Rally was re-released this year for iOS and was previously released on PC in 1996 developed by the highly popular gaming studio: Remedy Games behind the likes of Max Payne and Alan Wake. The game is a top down racing game where you ride different cars with various weapons on them just as the name suggests.

    8. MotorStorm: Apocalypse — PS3

MotoStorm: Apocalypse is the third installment in the highly successful Playstation 3 exclusive racing franchise.MotorStorm: Apocalypse is set in a post apocalyptic world where you race various vehicles including Monster Trucs, APVs and Bikes to survive and take the crown.

    7. MotoHeroz — Wii

MotoHeroz is a Wii Ware side scrolling racing game exclusive to Wii and a highly entertaining one at that. You know why this game’s good? It’s made by RedLynx, the same people behind the likes of Trials HD. MotoHeroz is a relatively weird game trying to mix Trials style gameplay with competitive racing. There’s one thing I know for sure, it’s darn fun playing online with friends.

    6. TrackMania 2: Canyon — PC

TrackMania 2: Canyon is PC exclusive racing title by Ubisoft. There are many levels included with the game along with thousands of user generated tracks which make TrackMania 2: Canyon a game to keep. Also just like the name suggests most of the game’s levels take place in canyons.

    5. F1 2011 — PC, Xbox 360, PS3 And 3DS

Who doesn’t love Formula 1? Well boring people that’s who! F1 2011 is major step up from F1 2010 featuring major changes which make the game much better. The multiplayer mode is very good, one of the better of all the racing simulators.

    4. Shift 2: Unleashed — PC, Xbox 360 And PS3

Need For Speed: Shift 2 or Shift 2: Unleashed as it’s being called now is the sequal to the popular racing game NFS: Shift. Although not being able to compete with the likes of Forza and Gran Turismo as far as realistic racing simulators are concerned Shift 2: Unleashed come up and delivers the entrainment factor. The night races especially are brilliant and exhilarating to say the least.

    3. Dirt 3 — PC, Xbox 360 And PS3

Dirt 3 or Colin Macrae’s Dirt 3 as it’s often called is an arcade off road racing game. Dirt 3 takes the game back to it’s rallying roots featuring on good old rallying racing much more. The game is easily the best off road racing game there is so we’d recommend a play.

    2. Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing — iOS

We love kart racing and I’m sure you do too so we’d highly recommend you checking out Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing for your iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. It’s worth every bit of it’s tiny price tag and easily one of the best game on iOS ever. In Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing you can choose one of SEGA’s iconic game characters like Sonic and race them making it pretty similar to Mario Kart Racing.

    1. Need For Speed: Hot Persuit

Ending off the list is Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, the Need For Speed we’ve all been waiting for. The game puts you in the shoes of either a cop or a racer, the player gets different perks or abilities depending on which side you choose. The game is meant to be played online so if you plan on getting it be sure to check the multiplayer mode out!

  • Review: Internet Download Manager 6

    Review: Internet Download Manager 6

TechDeville is pretty down to earth when it comes to exploring and revealing good software for the new generation to use. Download managers have been in the market since the early Internet Explorer glory days, when there was no such thing as a fox eating the earth, when people got too fed up of the slow and below-par downloading speeds they were getting out of their default downloader. People today look for bundles, all-in-one software packages that could do all,if not, most of their work for them. Internet Download Manager is without a doubt the very best downloading client out there.

Ever since it’s launch seven years ago, Internet Download Manager (also known as IDM) has gained a tremendous amount of success when it comes to the best and simplest download managing programs. It doesn’t have all the RAM eating spoofs all the mainstream managers carry with them, Download Accelerator was one of my favorites during the olden days but it managed to slow my PC down if I used two or more downloads at a time. IDM doesn’t scare its users with a steep learning curve, it’s pretty easy to understand at a glance. It is currently at it’s sixth milestone, version 6 brings a lot of new and exciting features to the table.

    INTERFACE

The user interface of IDM is probably the simplest out there. It doesn’t have any nasty gimmicks or pop-ups along the way. A simple tip screen shows up which you can turn off. The rest is smooth sailing. IDM automatically creates folders for the data we are downloading. It sorts them accordingly. This makes it easier to search for our downloaded data. If we download any video it will be automatically downloaded to the video folder. We can manually specify our own directory as well.

    CROSS-BROWSER COMPATIBILITY

Since the increasing number of the users rely on Firefox for their browsing needs, IDM has an integration system for the latest Firefox builds. Not just Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, even our old but forgotten friend Internet Explorer can be have IDM integrated in it for faster media accessibility and downloading.

    Automatic Media Detection

The usage of browser integration truly reveals itself whenever you visit a site that has any (and I mean ANY) sort of media file in it, be it a video file streaming live on Youtube or a song playing in the background. IDM sniffs out the media available on the page for its users with ease. Save videos from Youtube, Vimeo and other big video sharing sites in a wide variety of formats including .FLV, .MOV and .MP4. The type of format that is downloaded depends on the video which is being played, if we are playing a regular 360p or 480p video from Youtube, they are usually in .FLV format. 720p and 1080p videos are mostly in .MP4 or .MOV format.

    GRABBER

IDM is not only limited to these features. It also has a slightly unknown but very helpful feature called IDM Site Grabber. This allows us to download audio files, video files, pictures and even whole websites with scripts. We can choose any site and then simply select what we want to to download from it.

It gives a wide variety of options from downloading only a specific page to all the sub-domains of the website. It will then automatically search the whole site and then will individually analysis each page according to our given requirements. If we have selected to download pictures from any page then it will give us a choice of all the pictures from that page. We can select any one that we want and download it. This is a pretty handy feature, if you want to download and save a lot of pictures or other content at once.

    FINAL VERDICT

Internet Download Manager, with its plethora of awesome features, deserves to be the best downloading client in the market today. The final version is not that expensive, for around a one-time fee of $29 you could buy a license to use the program with. The trial version could be downloaded to experience the list of amazing features we’ve listed above. We recommend everyone to use this program as it enable the fastest downloading and the easiest interfaces.

  • Editorial: iOS 4.3.5 Untethered Jailbreak Won’t Be Possible On iPhone, iPod Touch And iPad

Editorial: iOS 4.3.5 Untethered Jailbreak Won’t Be Possible On iPhone, iPod Touch And iPad

As most Apple users may know by now Apple unexpectedly released iOS 4.3.5 a few days ago which was Jailbreaked a few hours later, you can check out the guide here. So we have some good news that it CAN be Jailbroken but that jailbreak is unfortunately tethered and we don’t think that an untethered jailbreak is gonna come out anytime soon.

iOS 4.3.5 was released 10 days after iOS 4.3.4 which patched the PDF vulnerability in Safari which allowed users to use Jailbreak.me to Jailbreak their devices. It was all in vain though since Comex released PDF Patcher 2 which retailed both the venerability and the Jailbreak, Apple knowing this still went through with iOS 4.3.4.

So that is the only reason iOS 4.3.5 was a very unexpected release since we expected major changes to come forth in iOS 5 which has already hit it’s 4th BETA. So what does iOS 4.3.5 brings forth you ask? According to Apple it has something to do with fixing “certificate validation” which could lead to a major security risk is left as it is.

So basically iOS 4.3.5 is gonna be obsolete in just a few weeks and creating an untethered Jailbreak is very hard and the iPhone Dev Team and other Jailbreakers will want to focus more on iOS 5. We might be able to expect an iPad 2 tethered Jailbreak in the future but as far as untethered Jailbreaks are concerned their chances are very low.

  • How To: Check And Monitor Your Internet Bandwidth On Windows 7 Without Installing Any Software

How To: Check And Monitor Your Internet Bandwidth On Windows 7 Without Installing Any Software

Here is a simple and easy way to monitor your internet bandwidth. I recently got this idea after the bandwidth cap that PTCL implemented on their DSL connections. Even though it is still unconfirmed but still people have no way of monitoring their bandwidth usage. Read on to find out how to do it.

    1. Download Network Meter from here or here
    2. Extract it if you have downloaded the .zip version.
    3. Run the .gadget file that you get after extracting, a security warning dialog box will pop up asking for confirmation. Click on “Install” to proceed.
    4. Right click on your desktop and then click on Gadgets, enable Network Meter by double clicking on it.
    5. In the Windows gadget sidebar, check the Network Meter gadget and go to its properties by clicking on the wrench icon below the X button.
    6. In the properties, click on the “Network Interface for Speed” and select your device.

    7. You now have successfully installed Network Meter, it will automatically detect if you are using a wireless or wired network connection.

Using this gadget, not only you can monitor your bandwidth, you can also check your download and upload speed. The best thing about it is that it doesn’t require anything extra and all you need is Windows 7 for it to work. It will keep track of the current bandwidth(Data used until the PC is shutdown or restarted) as well as the total bandwidth(Combined data).
